Size of Circuit Breakers to Use To Install 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2012 Chevrolet Equinox
Question:
On the Black 12volt battery terminal. What amps will I be drawing with number10 wire? Will a 25 amp fuse handle it? Thanks

If you are installing a 7-way and brake controller you will want to use a circuit breaker in-line when connecting the Black wire from the 7-way to the battery and in-line from the brake controller to the battery. The Black wire will draw 12 volt power.
For the Black wire that connects from the rear of the 7-way to the battery it is recommended to use a 40 amp circuit breaker, part # PK54540.
The Black wire running from the brake controller to the battery should also have a circuit breaker installed in-line before the battery. The size of circuit breaker to be used should be specified in the instructions of the brake controller, typically a 20 amp, part # PK54520, or 30 amp, part # PK54530 is used.
I have linked and FAQ on installing a 7-way and brake controller which features a nice diagram of the wiring.
