The color of the wires inside the vehicle connector will not always match the color of the wires inside the trailer connector. There is a standard wire color to function reference chart which I have attached for you, but this is not always the same on every vehicle. You will need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 in order to determine wire function as this is the only sure-fire way to tell.

In order to add a 4-way trailer connector to your 2015 GMC Terrain, you will want to use part # 118264 if you have the factory tow package or part # 118494 if you do not. Neither of these options will require you to use a circuit tester as they are both plug and play.

If you are unsure of whether or not you have the factory tow package, you can take a look at the 1:10 mark in the attached video. If you have this plug present then you have the factory tow package but if you do not have this plug present then you do not have the factory tow package.
