Great product. We used it with our Toyota 4 runner to tow our boat. Since the Toyota 4 runner electrical plug in is so far behind the rear bumper, we needed this extension in order for there not to be any issues with the wiring for boat trailer to become disconnected from being too short. The cord being coiled allows the extension to be as long as needed without possibly being drug on the ground.

Good. No issues.

by:

The product itself is of sturdy weight and production. BUT, the product description says 0-5 feet in length. It would difficult to stretch this product to 5 feet and not have it unplug itself on a bumpy road.

by:

This is a good connector to have if you pull various trailers with your truck. The coil gives a little extra in the event that the trailer pigtail is short. Second one I have purchased.

Product still works great

by:

This seems to be super high quality with thick cable and great end connections. Fit the 7 prong outlet on my 2011 4Runner perfectly. It'll be connecting to my new boat trailer. Super fast shipping and correspondence from etrailer.com.

Its still holding up great. It generates a lot of interest and other boaters/trailer haulers are impressed by it.

by:

Perfect length for my 5th generation 4runner that has the cable connector far away from the hitch.

Still working great a year later.

by:

Bought this adapter because my "new to me" Ford F150 had a 7 way connection and my boat trailer had a 5 way flat...

Product arrived just as advertised, appears to be high quality, and took about 5 seconds to get my boat trailer and new truck hooked up.

All of the lights on the trailer worked great, and I didn't have to run a wire from the reverse light on my truck ( which you would need to do if going from a 4 way flat to a 5 way flat in order to disengage the surge brake on the trailer)... Very good product, fast shipping! Thanks again guys for the help!

by:

Just what I needed! Works great, easy to store. 7 way to 4 way trailer connector. The nite glow makes connections even easier.

by:

Excellent quality. but after adding 4" heightener to level the tow bars to the Jeep, which added 6.5 inches in length it was too short and not useable.

Great wish I had it years ago.I dont have to worry about the plug pulling out when I go around a corner.

by:

Awesome company

by:

A neccessity, would order again, I like the indicator glow light

by:

The wiring connector has held up well. It has been on the trailer for a year and functions like the day I bought it. This is is great product.

by:

This is a robust connector and just the right length -- not so long that it drags on the ground and long enough to keep from pulling trailer wiring during turns. It is a heavy duty connector with heavy insulation that should wear a long time.

by:

Needed a longer cord between my truck and boat trailer since I changed the length for the ball mount. This works perfectly with it and I can use it with my other ball mount of different lengths.

by:

This is a high quality trailer cable from an American company. it is exactly what I was looking for and expected. etrailer was also very responsive and timely.

by:

Heavy duty and the perfect length for my Toyota 4runner which has the 7 pin connector far from the hitch.

by:

Needed a wring converter and couldnt figure out which one. Called etrailer and Karen found what I needed within a couple of minutes. It arrived on schedule and I used it today.

by:

Only received 1 tail light no packing list is the other twilight on back order

by:

I'm replacing my old connector from my boat to my truck and this 7 way to 5 way flat is heavy duty enough to do the job and the flex coil keeps the added length from dragging the road.

by:

Ellen was outstanding. Very informative and knowledgable. I would recommend her advice and etrailer.com to all my friends. *

  • Recommended 7-Way to 5-Way or 4-Way Flat Adapter That Measures 3-Ft Long
For a 7-Way to 5-Way or 4-Way Flat connector I recommend part # HM47075. This adapter will work with a 4-way or a 5-way and has Nite-Glow which lets you know you are connected and working. This has a coiled cable which measures 3-ft when stretched.

  • Recommended 7-Way to 5-Way Adapter for Trailer with Surge Brakes
The function you are referencing is reverse lockout, which would be found on a 5-way connection that looks very simliar to a 4-way. Assuming you have a 5-way, what you are looking for is a 7-way to 5-way adapter since you have surge brakes. I recommend the Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Style to 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector Adapter # A10-7275VP. This will plug into the 7-way on your 2016 Ford F-150 and allow you to connect to your trailer. If you would like something with a bit of an extension,...

Both have easy-grip connectors and light up when connected. Both are 3 foot when stretched. Both adapt a 7-Way connector to work with a 4-Way or 5-Way flat connector on a trailer. The Hopkins Heavy-Duty, Coiled Trailer Connector Adapter, # HM47075, measures 3 feet long when stretched. This will most likely not be long enough for most flat towing applications unless the 4-Way end on the vehicle has some slack that you can pull out. You could just add a 4-pole loop, # 18045, which will provide another 60 inches of length. There is also a 48 inch loop, # 18044. No problem, I will be happy to help. The 7-Way you have is called a blade or RV style. The center pin will either be for reverse lights or auxiliary 12-volt power. If the trailer does not have reverse lights or does not need a second 12-volt circuit, then it would not matter if the adapter had it or not. If the trailer has an electric reverse lockout feature, common on boat trailers with surge brakes, then you would need that center pin in the adapter and the center pole on the vehicle...
