7-Way To 4-Way Adapter Recommendation For 2003 Hummer H2 Towing A Rented Trailer
Question:
Hi Im planning on renting a 4x8 trailer with my 2003 Hummer H2. In the manual, it states that: Your vehicle is equipped with the eight-wire trailer towing harness. This harness with a seven-pin universal heavy-duty trailer connector is attached to the rear bumper. I see from the Rental site that the 4x8 trailer has a 4-way flat connection. So my question is, what would I need to buy to connect the 4 way flat connection to my car? Im confused with the eight-wire trailer towing harness and the 7-pin universal heavy duty trailer connector.inch This is also the first time Ill be using the car to tow a trailer. Thank you very much. Frank

Since the owner's manual on your 2003 Hummer H2 states it has a universal 7-way connector on the back, we have an adapter that will work fine for you.
I recommend the Hopkins Heavy-Duty, Coiled Trailer Connector Adapter, part # HM47075. This connects to the 7-way on your Hummer and gives you a 4-way connector to connect the trailer to. As long as the 4-way connector on the trailer you are renting has the standard 4-way flat connector attached, using the # HM47075 should take care of your wiring. If you only want the 7-way to 4-way adapter, that would be part # HM47065.
I have attached a couple of helpful articles that explain wiring and how to troubleshoot any wiring connections.
