Fulton single-speed winches feature efficient gear ratios, full-length drum bearings, oil-impregnated shaft bushings and "Comfort Grip" handles. High-carbon steel gears are strong and long-lasting, and stamped carbon steel frames ensure rigidity for gear alignment and a long cycle life.

This winch features solid drum-gear construction, which means that the drum and the gear are 1 single piece. Unlike other winches that have a drum and gear that are riveted together, which leaves space in between, this winch's solid construction ensures there are no spaces that water or debris can get into. Because water can't get in, there is no risk of damaging corrosion between the drum and gear, ensuring years of worry-free operation.

We were up in New Hampshire for Labor Day weekend getting ready to come home on Monday. Upon putting my 18 ft. boat on its trailer the winch strap broke. Luckily the boat was already on the trailer and all I was doing was snugging it up after it was out the water. When ever we go on a long trip I come prepared. I tied the front end of boat with ratchet straps for the long ride to Conn. I ordered the new winch Tuesday and received it Friday. Great service. Other sites had me waiting to Oct. I highly recommend this site.

by:

I purchased this to replace the original winch that came with my trailer. The reason why it needed to be replaced was because the handle had stripped out, the strap was also ready to be replaced so I ordered the entire assembly. Unfortunately the handle on the new winch is also starting to strip out. I see this as a design flaw. The handle has a square hole that fits over a square fitting and is held on by a nut. A redesign could easily rectify the issue simply by making the handle thicker where it attaches to the winch as to allow more contact area over the square fitting. I have modified the handle to basically accomplish the same thing and it has been holding up well. I installed a thick washer on the square fitting, installed the handle and then added another thick washer prior to installing and tightening the nut. This is working, however a thicker handle would be the real solution.

Good service

by:

The whole order process was painless and the product is excellent.

by:

Great product and easy to install. Replaced the original Fulton Model T1801 with this one.

by:

Winch was a direct replacement for the existing broken one on my boat trailer. It was important that bolt hole pattern matched up.
Mfg has extended length of handle by 2 inches, which doesn't work for me,as my hand will hit boat when cranked tight.I just took shorter handle off the old one and am gonna use it unstead.

by:

Fit perfectly. Great replacement for a failed winch. Nice that it includes the strap as well.

by:

Had an older version (Fulton T1801) of this winch that needed a ratchet repair kit. The ratchet repair kit changes the winch functionality from two way to one way. Therefore, I went with the newest version of this winch. Visually, you could see some components are beefier than the old T1801 model. Its ratchet is beefier and of a different design too. The winch is a direct bolt in for the old unit.

In today's times it can be difficult to obtain good customer service as many companies tend to cut corners in this area. Not in this case as I received great customer service from William B on this product.

ETrailer has filled several orders for me since I began customizing a used boat trailer a couple of years ago. They have fulfilled every order speedily and accurately, and their products have more than met my needs. This time it was the winch to be replaced, and I am very satisfied.

by:

I was very impressed with the great service, excellent products, and end results after assembling my boat trailer with the parts ordered from Etrailer. Shipping was fast. Very reasonable prices. Will definitely order thru this company again and have already referred friends of mine to have them take a look at your site.

So far works great.

by:

etrailer is great. Very helpful and knowledgeable for my boat trailer needs. Will be my #1 go to for products and parts. Thanks

by:

Latch spring isn’t strong enough to move latch into the ratchet position. A bit of a disappointment.

by:

Tim, the winch F142306 you recommended was a perfect replacement for my old T1801 winch .Thank you for shipping me the shorter 9 inch handle also the 10" handle would have been to long. Thankyou for your good product knowledge. Shipping took 4 days .

by:

The winch didn't fit my application..too large a diameter. Got a hold of Mike at etrailer and reordered one that would fit. Very helpful. While I was on the phone, I ordered additional parts to retrofit the "trailer project". Got the return all set-up. Excellent customer service!

by:

The winch is the same as the one I'm replacing, although the handle is two inches longer it should still work. As for the Jack it is the same only newer and much more refined than the old one from 24 years ago. I received them in 5 days as stated. Thank you,
EW.

by:

by:

Item came in fast and was put on boat trailer with in the hour of getting it. Pulls my 2500 lbs

by:

by:

by:

Product works very well for my boat trailer

by:

Works very well, only problem I had was the bolt holes on the new unit did not match the holes on the trailer.

by:

Like the longer handle and locking latch while releasing. Should last a lot of years!

by:

Easy install, straight forward instructions. Works great.

  • Mounting Base Dimensions for Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306
I went out to our warehouse to take some measurements of the mounting base on the Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306. The plate itself measures 6 inches long and 4 inches wide. The mounting pattern features a few oblong holes that allows it to match various patterns. I have attached an image with their dimensions below. Please just let me know if you need any additional measurements and I will be happy to take them.

  • Recommended Replacement Winch for a Fulton T1801
I have a solution for you. The Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch - 10" Long Handle, w/ 20 FT Strap - 1,800 lbs, # F142306, is the winch I recommend for your application. This winch uses a 2-way ratchet system and has a solid drum design which is much more corrosion resistant than the typical riveted drum and gear assemblies on other winches. This winch is a replacement for the T1801Z0301 that was originally the replacement for the T1801 Fulton winch.

As you mentioned, Shelby is no longer in business so there are no replacement parts, and no way to confirm any are a fit for Shelby winches. The best we can offer is a replacement winch for your Shelby 5405, like the following: - Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306 - Single-Speed Boat Trailer Winch # 315-W1800D - Fulton F2 Fully Enclosed Trailer Winch # FW16000101 I have added links to video reviews and our entire selection of Shelby winches for you to take a look at.

  • Can 1800 Lb Capacity Fulton Winch Pull 1500 lb UTV onto Trailer
Using some of the high school trig I swore I'd never need again, I calculated that your ramp has about a 40% or a 22° slope. Given the slope, the fact that it's a rolling load and the capacity of the winch, an 1800 lb winch like the Fulton # F142306 can pull 4700 lbs with a 30% slope or 3350 lbs with a 50% slope, so with a 40% slope, you're well within the capabilities of the winch you've chosen. I've provided a link to a demonstration video for a 1800 lb capacity Fulton winch and have...

  • Fulton Trailer Winch Replacement for Boat Trailer with 1,500 lb Nylon Strap Winch
What you have is a very standard boat winch with a 1,500 lb capacity and a nylon strap. For a similar winch we have the Fulton part # F142306 which has an 1,800 lb capacity and would easily bolt to the same mounts as what you have. Since it has a slightly higher capacity it will be easier to crank.

  • Replacement for Shelby 0937 Winch Handle
Unfortunately, Shelby went out of business so there are no replacement parts. There is also no way to confirm that other replacement handles are a fit for Shelby winches. That being said, I would consider replacing your Shelby winch. I recommend the # F142306 Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch. It has carbon steel construction with a capacity of 1,800 lbs. This would also make it easier to find replacement parts in the future. I have attached a video review of the winch for your reference.

  • Troubleshooting Fulton T1801 Slipping
Your Fulton T1801 may be slipping for a number of different reasons. Some of the most common come from use over time. If the teeth on the planetary gear or ratchet pawl start to wear down, or if the handle is stripped at the attachment point, you may experience slipping. If it is only slightly worn that would explain why it works fine without any weight but not with the weight of the boat. The spring may also need to be replaced. • Recommended Replacement Hand Winch for 1996 EZ Loader Boat Trailer
Fulton no longer makes the T1602 winch, it's been replaced by the F2, part # FW16000101. If you're happy with the way your old one performed, it would be good replacement. A winch can pull a rolling load that exceeds its rated capacity, but an incline, like the ramps on your tow dolly, adds some resistance.
