AJ What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com Today we're going to checking out the Dutton Lainson replacement winch strap, and that's going to be 20 feet long and two inches wide. That's going to replace any broken straps you might have on your winch to pull your boat nice and tight. Let's check it out. The strap itself do have a break strength of 2,600 pounds. It's going to have a safe working load limit of 1,700 pounds and then it's also made for winches up to 1,700 pounds.
Looking at the material and went straps made out of it's very much like a seatbelt. You got the extra stitching here on like a high stress point where it's going to be pulled really tight so going to be sure that part's not going to fray and come apart on you. The other thing we've got a snap hook here at the end, snaps right into place. I like that too, cause you can usually just hook it on to your boat. This goes into place, you don't have to use your other hand to do that, it goes on there real quick and stays nice and secure.
Now the nice thing about it is it comes with the hardware, you will need to install it if you need it. So we we're replacing an old broken strap on ours. We already had that bar insert to attach it, so we just kept with that. See how we did it. As you can see, our wind strap has snap, so it's really no use to us so rather to remove this old one, so what we're going to do is make sure you put it in neutral so they can free spin and then we're going to pull the strap all the way out till we get to that point where they expose you can pull the strap up like this or move the middle bar there and then it can slide back through the center and we're ready to add our new strap.
With our new strap, we're going to just do the reverse of what we just did just to make sure you put that in there, you're going to slide it in the opening in between here, just like that, we'll put our bar back in pull tight like that and then roll it up. There's most of this wrapped up here, I can go ahead and hook up to the boat itself, cooks right on there and then just get it little bit more tight. It's okay. Just to keep going a little bit, let that stretch strap tighten up really good in your winch. And so you see it pulling the boat looks like we're good there.
That's plenty tight. And it really is that easy to install, it takes no time at all and you replaced your strap and you're good to go. Well, thanks for hanging out. And I hope this helped..

The strap was as it was listed but the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch - TUFFPLATE Finish - Single Speed - 1,600 lbs that I was putting it on was not. Don't get this winch because the drum is covered in spatter and will cut up your new strap.
