Provider Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Provider Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Provider radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Provider tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

I have replaced the original tires on the last two trailers we have had because the Provider Trailer tires have been very dependable in all weather and roads. The biggest test we gave them is our trip to Alaska. From GA. to the Arctic Circle and back via the I-10 southern route. Five months and over 15,000 miles without ANY tire problems. I am putting a link to part of the trip through the Yukon on the Alaska Highway. Everyone said we would have tire and windshield issues but not one. I might add the (Load Range D is the best to use)The trailer is a 32' Jayco Whitehawk, maxed at 8,000lbs

Customer service from John A was great. The tires were great. Bought a set for my other trailer and was extremely good tires

Tires and service was excellent

by:

Replaced 4 tires on a boat trailer (3200lbs gross weight) and so far so good no problems .Traveled to Colorado river on first trip in 110 degree weather last summer they handled great on the road. At this time I’ve only put on approximately 3000 miles they look new and have worn evenly.

by:

Customer service was great once again with Etrailer. There were some issues upon order placement of finding the requested quantity of tires. Etrailer reps George and James did a great job of bringing this to my attention and offering other options as well as letting me know the expected lead time to receive the quantity requested of brand requested. Stuck with this as lead time was only a few more weeks and they actually came in after only one week. The communication was very good and much appreciated. Have not actually had a chance to inspect the tires but will follow up with another review upon doing so. Thanks guys!

Ordered trailer tires for my inboard boat. They arrived on time and I put them to good use traveling from South Carolina to Florida. Performed better than expected great price, super service, thanks so much.

by:

Haven’t had these tires very long, but they look really good and seem to work well at hwy speed in the rain. These are a great buy for any trailer wether it be a boat, landscape, or just everyday hauling trailer. Thanks etrailer.com.

by:

Great product, great price, fast delive ry!

by:

I cannot write a product review as the tires I ordered are still in the box, but I can write on the order experience. I have ordered before from Etrailer and have had excellent experience in the order process, shipping and pricing. Very streamlined and efficient method of ordering. Another item that impressed me was the video that explained in detail everything about the tires I ordered. It answered a lot of questions I had about the tires. The price was the best I could find with the free shipping.

by:

Could not believe how fast their shipping was! Tires are already installed and are top quality. Just what I needed for long trips pulling my bass boat and trailer. Thanks!!

by:

These tires were priced right and did the job. Delivery was prompt with no issues. I would definitely use etrailer.com again.

by:

Had these a year now with no problems. Don't know why anyone would pay more for a trailer tire!

by:

Recently purchased tire for my camping trailer. The price was very good and the free shipping was a bonus. I have made many purchases from Etrailer and have been happy with all my experiences.

by:

Receive tires in three days was which was extremely good. great place to do business with, tires look good ,took a lot of weight on one rim to balance ,but the tires are on the trailer now but haven't put them on the highway yet so we'll have to wait and see how they perform

by:

Outstanding tires at a excellent price with super communications regarding very prompt delivery date. Outstanding people to deal with!!!

by:

I ordered four tires and they arrived in two days. Very happy with that. But, I was very disappointed to find out all four tires were almost four years old (all had DOT days from 2012). Shame on you etrailer.

  • Recommended Replacement for H78-14 Tires on Boat Trailer
We have the exact tires that you need to replace your old dry-rotted tires, but to answer your last question, the number of axles (and therefore the number of tires) does play into load rating. Each tire has its own rating, and the way it works is the total capacity is the combined total of the capacity for each tire - so for a tandem axle trailer, you simple combine the load capacity of all four tires to get their total weight capacity. The correct replacement size for H78-14 tires is...

  • What Does a Pin Plate do For Wheel Balancing Process
I found the question you referenced where Adam mentions a pin plate adapter. Basically it's a way to make sure the wheel is perfectly mounted before it's balanced to ensure you get the best balance possible. In a trailer wheel scenario it's probably a bit overkill but most tire shops have them.

  • Switching From 215/75-14 to 205/75-14 Trailer Tires
The 215/75-14 tires that you have now are 26.7" diameter x 8.5" wide and the 205/75-14 tires that you are inquiring about are 26.1" diameter x 8.1" wide. Therefore, you should not have any clearance issues. However, there are also other factors you need to consider when selecting new trailer tires and those are load range and speed rating. The type of tire must also be noted as only special trailer (ST) and some light truck (LT) tires are rated for use on trailers The best 215/75-14 tire...

  • Replacement Spare Tire/Wheel for 1965 Kit Companion Camper Trailer
You will want to be sure to use a special trailer (ST) tire for your spare on your 1965 Kit Companion camper trailer. Its important that the tires on the trailer match each other in size and load range. Trailer tires are made specially to withstand the vertical load from a trailer and are made differently from passenger vehicle tires. Since you need a tire and wheel you'll want to match up the wheel bolt pattern to your hubs to ensure they fit together. I have linked an article to help...

The chart you're referring to (Which I've attached) is to help you determine where to locate the axles on your trailer when either adding an axle or building a trailer. It can help you find where to move your existing axle and placement of the new axle. The formula is used to make sure your trailer's tongue weight is 10 percent of it's total weight. • Is Adding Larger Tires A Good Way To Lift My Forest River Camper with Tandem Axles?
Adding slightly larger tires than your current ST205x75xR14 might help a little bit; but the Provider ST215/75R14 # TTWTR21514 tires that you were looking at are only going to raise your trailer about 6/10", so I'm not sure those are going to be the best way to go. The other thing that comes into play, in addition to the space between the tandem axles, is the space between your current tires and the bottom of the frame of the trailer. However, we do not offer trailer tires in the wider ST225/75-14 size you mentioned. Similarly, 15-inch trailer tires in size ST225/75-15 will fit on 15-inch rims of several widths: 6, 6-1/2 and 7-inches wide. • Difference Between D and R 215/75-14 Tire Sizes
The D stands for "Bias" while the R stands for "Radial". Bias tires have a stronger sidewall and are usually used for off-road applications like agricultural trailers (although they can be used for highway-type trailers) while Radial tires have a little more flex in the sidewalls which helps keep them cooler at higher speeds so they are more ideal for highway usage. It's always a good idea to use the same ply-type on the trailer since their sidewalls have different amounts of flex as you've...
