This Advent Air AC unit lets you replace an existing, old or broken air conditioner or add a new air conditioner to an area on your RV or camper that doesn't already have one. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. For your convenience, the included air distribution box has a built-in thermostat that lets you set the fan speed and temperature. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace or add an AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Air Distribution Box and Thermostat

Advent Air Air Distribution Box

The AC unit includes an air distribution box with a built-in thermostat. The dial on the left controls the 3 cool settings and the 3 fan speed settings, which let you increase or decrease the airflow. If you add an electric heat strip (sold separately) to remove the chill on cold mornings, then the dial also controls the heat setting. The dial on the right allows you to set the temperature. Additionally, there are adjustable registers on the front and back of the box. These can be tilted up, down, or side-to-side for directing the air where needed. The removable air filter prevents dust and dirt from building up on the fan blades.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 13,500 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

Great a/c unit. Happy with the price. Installed myself - super simple/really quick. The “easy start” capacitor option is a “must have”. Very low current drain at start-up compared to the old one that I removed. Cools fast. My entire motor home (36 ft) was quite comfy in about 15 minutes. It could be a little quieter but the tv volume has been up to the challenge so far.

All of my comments stand. I am, however, a little disappointed by the amount of condensation drip through the control unit. I have to put a pan on the floor to prevent a puddle from forming. Be especially watchful if you have carpet underneath. Also, when you install it for diy-ers attach a drain tube to the main unit or there will water down the side of your rvmy.

etrailer customer service again never fails I received my shipment yesterday and one of the boxes was open and one part was missing I took a picture of it called customer service sent it to him and within 24 hours the replacement has been sent. There was no question about the claim or need to file it with UPS. I've had several different transactions with etrailer their website is great easy to use and if I have any questions, I can get quick answers from a real person and the customer service has always been great tracking etcetera highly recommend etrailer.

Overall I'm happy with the unit. Installation was pretty straight forward double checking our progress along the way. Upon connection to power the GFCI tripped, this resulted into triage finding one wire penetrated by a screw from the junction cover. Start to finish with removal of the old roof vent and quite a bit of conversation was six hours.

One small discrepancy which was welcomed is the directions for the rooftop unit specify a 2.5" - 5" roof but further provide ducting instructions for 1"-2" roofs. I had purchased plywood anticipating the need for a spacer but happily skipped it.

Originally shipped unit was damaged in transit and etrailer made that whole exchange quick and easy, I was actually quite impressed.

by:

Shipped in no issues. Went to install and found the smaller square cut for airflow was off by almost an inch which also pushed the tab for the mounting bolt out, causing everything else to be unaligned. Had to cut and fill in to fit everything correctly.

by:

E trailer made things pretty easy. I needed a new AC unit for vending trailer use. The old model was discontinued, but a replacement was offered, and purchased. Fairly simple installation, and reasonably priced. Their team had knowledge of the product, and I was pleased with the purchase. Works fine so far.

by:

Easy install. However the capacitor had to be replaced after a couple months. The capacitor came quickly and easily installed. Nice unit and works great. I have it installed in our Florida home which is a single wide 8x35 with a lanai.

by:

Easy to install works great I got the heat option that comes in handy to knock the chill off in cooler weather looks like the original unit very happy with product!

by:

We bought this to replace our Dometic in our Jayco 145RB. The installation was easy and straightforward. The toughest part was getting it on the roof. Sliding it up a ladder on the side of the trailer worked very well, but it is heavy. It takes a bit longer to cool the trailer down than the Dometic (I'm guessing that's because the Dometic has 4 vents and this one has only 2). If you have any mechanical skills at all, you should have no problem with this install. I would suggest watching the video posted on etrailer regardless of your experience. Their tip to turn the AC to Medium cool after the tailer is cooled down is a good one, even in 90+ degree heat. I will purchase from etrailer again. They ROCK!

by:

Cranks cold air! Cools my sprinter in minutes. Easy to install a wire up. Cheap!

by:

E trailer is a great place to do business with. I have bought 3 of there air conditioners from them and no problems at all

by:

Easy Installation. Excellent cold air. Perfect fit. Fast delivery. Intelligent customer service care

by:

Over the years I've bough two Advent A/C units from etrailer.com. Both units are doing great. I have encouraged others to consider Advent Air when they are looking for a replacement.

by:

This is a nice unit. Very easy to install and cools nicely. My only complaint is that it is a little loud. This like it overall.

by:

Easy to install. Perfect for our little camper

by:

AC may be OK but e trailer is not.

by:

This company went above and beyond in customer service. My a/c was in schedule from the moment it was ordered. Everything that was advertised about this unit was correct. Easy install under 2hrs plus runs off of my 2000w Honda generator. I will definitely be using them again for all of my trailer needs

by:

This is the 2nd one I have purchased for a vintage camper. Great product @ a great price!

After 1 year, the Advent AC continues to perform as new. Very happy with both that I have ordered and installed.

by:

Terrible unit, if I could give a zero rating I would. I had it installed in the Bunk room of my travel trailer. The air blows up at the ceiling. I have to run 2 fans in the room to keep it circulating.

by:

I just received this material today and have not opened yet .I will not be installing until weather warms in late winter. What I have seen so far products look of high quality and your service has been outstanding . I have told friends about your website easy to get around in and helpful staff. Keep up the good work. Look forward to my next purchase , Thanks again, Mike W

by:

Glad it arrived quickly! I especially liked the detailed installation video on the site, it helped a lot.

by:

Installation was simple and unit has preformed perfectly and we have had our rv in several states. Highly recommend.

by:

This Company has been very helpful for us.When you call them they are very polite and the freight was extremely fast on a AC unit that we purchased.Would highly recommend.

by:

Super fast delivery, happy with product!

by:

Easy to install, I'm very happy with the unit. Toughest part is getting it up on the camper roof. Two people are needed because the unit is too bulky handle alone.

  • Can I Put An Advent AC Unit On A 2005 Casita 16' Camper?
Good day to you, Jason. I can definitely point you in the right direction for AC unit for your 2005 Casita 16' Camper. Since you are replacing a basic roof vent, you will need to install a complete AC system. So, to answer your question, yes, the Advent AC Units will definitely work for this purpose. You will need to get a complete AC system, meaning a rooftop unit, start capacitor, controller and distribution box. For that I recommend the following: - Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System...

Yes, a 13,500 btu will be the smallest rated AC available. The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box, # ACM135C has a start capacitor with this 13,500 btu option AC. This feature is specifically for the purpose of helping to start when being operated off a generator. Many people successfully operate this unit using a 2,000 watt inverter generator. I suggest not trying too operate off anything smaller. This comes with an air distribution box that has a built-in thermostat....

Yes, the installation instructions that came with your Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System # ACM135C are correct. You tighten the bolts to 40-50 inch pounds. This compresses the gasket to approximately 1/2". Since the bolts are self locking, overtightening of the bolts is not needed.

This requires the roof to be between 2-1/2 inch to 5 inch thick so you might need to make like a brace or space with wood to create that thickness. The opening size required for the roof is 14-1/4 inch by 14-1/4 inch.
