Westlake Radials

This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Westlake Standard Tread Close-Up

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

This is the second time I've purchased these tires from etrailer. The only reason I'm replacing two is due to an axle issue that caused the inside edge to prematurely wear out. These are easy to order and have a very quick delivery. I ordered them late (after hours on 4/22/2022. They were on my doorstep on 4/26/2022.

One tire is still good. The other blew out after hitting too many potholes on I-10 by Beaumont TX.

by:

Great lightning fast service. Highly re commend.

by:

These are the strongest and best trailers tires I've ever owned!

I drive thousands of miles a year on rural dirt roads, and these are virtually indestructible. Running anything other than these tires is worthless.

by:

Ordering was quick and easy. Tires came quicker than stated, I was pleasantly surprised. Great customer service, I give them a 10 !!

by:

Very good tires, I bought 2 on the ground and 1 for the spare. No problem at all holds pressure.

Leslie

2/24/2022

Great tires, no trouble with them. They track good, maintain pressure great and smooth ride. Two on the ground and the spare.

by:

My last tires from etrailer lasted 3 years of daily use. Although I have yet to put many miles on these I expect excellent results. Lisa D. guided me through the selection process. This Westlake model is a better fit (205) than my previous tire (215) yet offeres the same 8-ply & D load rating. My local stores still think they don’t make radial trailer tires! I can’t recommend etrailer highly enough!

by:

Excellent purchasing experience for me. The new tire was delivered to my camper with no issues whatsoever.

by:

Order July 2023. Tires being returned. All over a year old. One tire from 2021. No confidence in ordering replacements based on conversation with customer service.

by:

The date code showed the tires were made almost 2 years ago. Since I replace tires at 6 years based on date code, not tread wesr, this was not acceptable. A return shipping label is being awaited.

by:

Found a match for our existing trailer tires on the website and it was shipped out the next day. Had it at the house in just a few days. Also took advantage of a few other items to be eligible for the free shipping. Didn't know an anti-wobble receiver hitch device existed, I wish I would have found that years ago. I'll definitely bookmark etrailer's web page for my next RV/Trailer need.

1 year in and still working well. Used it with boat trailers, a cargo hitch, and an Ultimate MX hauler. Worked well for everything Ive hitched up so far.

by:

Tires were a fair price. Had local installers put them on. They look good on the trailer. Guys were impressed by 5 year warranty and 2 year road side service from Lion's Head.

by:

Good service, fast shipping, 2 year roadside warranty nice good looking tires 8 ply, only reson for just 4 stars is that I just recieved the tires.

Tires are good, track good no problems.

by:

Excellent service.

by:

The tire arrived today and it is very close i tread style to the other tires on my RV. Delivery time was very fast. Had it mounted and balanced so I am ready to put it on. This company is very easy to work with, sell a high quality product(s) and deliver when they say! Thank you!

The tire I bought from you is really holding up great! Eventually I will replace all of the original tires with yours. I have 3 plus 1 spare tire that will need replacing. Great tire at a great price!

by:

Service was spot on very friendly, and service was great , received my order in just a few days, will definitely use them again looking forward to orders from them again . Thank you etrailer.

Excellent,so far. Great service from etrailer

by:

Had a blowout on the 2 year old original tires that came on Bullet 248rks so I decided to replace all 4 tires with the Westlake Super ST. Had them mounted by a mechanics at a Mercedes dealership. He was impressed by the quality of the tires and I shouldn’t have any problems with these tires. And they look great also.

by:

the tires were delivered in a timely manner have not mounted them yet hoping to get good ware out of them

great

by:

The tire was on backorder but eTrailer presented me other options for a faster delivery. Great communication from the seller! I mounted the tire at my local tire dealer and its all ready to go for a spare. 5 stars so far, but I can't rate the tire yet since its in my camper storage box waiting for use.

by:

My camper had Westlakes on it when bought new, 5 years later I looked for an upgrade and all the "China Bomb" comments everywhere and even American had some negatives. I had no problem with my Westlakes for 5 years therefore I was my best reference and bought another set of Westlakes but moved up to D rated vice the C rated that came with the trailer. I have absolutely no complaints with these.

by:

Hard to rate tires before they're installed, but the previous set of the same tires traveled well...no flats in 10000 miles. These arrived fast and are well packaged. Shipped two hours after I placed my order.

by:

items were as described, have always got good service and techs have knowledge of all the products and can answere most questions

Havent used it. Its only a spare

by:

Tires came very quick after ordering. I was looking for Westlake tires and found etrailer to be the price leader for these tires. Very satisfied with the e-trailer experience.

by:

Great tire, matches the new trailer tires that I bought. Wish they offered the rim and tire together (mounted and balanced) . Local tire shop did that for free for me. No other site offered the tire and rim except etrailer. Fast shipping and very good packaging.

by:

Awesome tire and rim replacement due to a blow out on my travel trailer. Perfect fit on both tire & rim and it came very fast. Thank you for the great service.

by:

Really impressed with etrailer service. They have so many products at great prices. I am traveling cross country, and had a bad trailer tire. etrailer sent the new tire to my location, and upgraded the shipping speed at no additional cost.

  • Is There a 14 Inch Diameter Tire That is Also a Load Range E or Higher
I may have a solution for you, but I'm not aware of a 14" trailer tire existing with these specs (Load Range E and 14 ply). The highest rated 205/75r14 tire we have is the Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # 274-000012 which is rated for 2,040-lbs per tire and is an 8 ply tire. These are radial tires, so they're well suited for highway travel and would do just fine on your cross-country trip. Most tires this size top out at Load Range D and have no more than 8 ply. In...

We certainly have replacement tires in the size ST205/75R14 that you mentioned. The best solution would be the # 274-000012 which is the same size, has a higher speed rating at 75 mph and comes with a 2 year roadside assistance program. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. • Can I Use the Load Range D Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire w/ Load Range C Tires?
Short term to get your trailer home you're good. This is not going to be successful in the long run. The lower-rated tires will run hotter than the higher rated ones. Running them on hot highways through Texas and the southern states will eventually lead to issues. The lower-rated tires are more likely to fail and cause trailer tracking problems. Ideally all four tires will have the same load range. I recommend replacing your load range C tires before your next trip. The Westlake ST205/75R14...

These both are considered higher quality radial options but the best one for your application will come down to your particular speed vs load rating needs. The Kenda Karrier # AM32161 (on steel wheel) or # AM34659 (on aluminum wheel) has a higher maximum load rating of 2,200 lbs at 75 psi, it has a higher speed rating (M) with a maximum speed of 81 mph.. • Correct Tire Pressure for 2020 Forest River Wildwood X-Lite 241QBXL
I always suggest using the tire pressure that is on the trailer as long as this does not exceed the maximum pressure allowed on your tire. There are different load ratings for different tires and will allow for different maximum pressures. It would appear that Lionshead no longer make a load range D of your Castle Rock ST205/75R14. If you have the load range C that has the maximum rating of 50psi I suggest replacing them with a load range D tire since that is what your manufacturer recommends...

  • Replacement 205/75-14 Sized Tires for a Tow Dolly with Bias Tires
Since it's safe to assume you're pulling your tow dolly on highways and not going off road with it I recommend switching from a bias to a radial tire. Radial tires flex more than bias tires so the generally have better ground contact and wear better. They also run cooler which is always a good thing. A tire's worst enemy is excessive heat. For this, I recommend the Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire part # 274-000012. Trailer tires need to be inflated to the max pressure to ensure you get the full capacity and and don't cause excessive heat build up. What I recommend for you tire size is the # 274-000012. Trailer tires like the Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # 274-000012 are not given heat ratings. The heat ratings are something that is given on passenger car/truck tires as a requirement by government agencies. Trailer tires are not subjected to the same kind of wear and tear as other tires. While it is important to ensure the tire is not overheating which is usually caused by underinflation and misalignment of axles, they do not receive heat ratings. I always recommend using...
