Recommended 2,000 lbs Idler Hub and Replacement Spindle w/ a 4 on 4 Hub

Question:

I have a 1inch straight spindle that measures 3 3/4inch including the threads on the spindle. The spindle measures 5inch overall. The bearings that were on the spindle were marked 07100. I purchased a EC Smith 1inch hub assembly kit 13210, that had a L44643 bearings and a 12192TB grease seal. Everything fit fine except I could not get the castle nut threaded on far enough to get the cotter pin thru the hole in the spindle. Will # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K allow me to get the castle nut and cotter pin installed?

Thanks for the pictures! If your spindle is 3-3/4" with the threads included then the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly item # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K will not fit. This would be why you couldn't get the castle nut to thread. It sounds like you have a stub style spindle which we do not have a replacement option for since it's much shorter in length than standard spindles.

To avoid anymore hassle of trying to find replacement parts for an obsolete trailer spindle, I recommend replacing your spindles with the BT8 Spindle for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles item # TRU94FR. This spindle will work with the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly item # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K you referenced.
