Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Long Shank 2 Inch Hitch Ball Review

Hey, everybody. Adam here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Draw-Tite two-inch hitch ball. So when it comes to hitch balls, one, you need to look at your coupler to see what size you are using. So with this one, it typically says it right up top, but it might be worn off. But that's where you'll find it.

It is a two-inch, so we're good there. Well, the next thing is, we wanna make sure that it works with our ball mount. So one thing we need to take into consideration is the hole that it goes through. So we wanna make sure that the hole is gonna be about 3/4 of an inch in diameter. And we have a 2 3/8-inch long shank.

So make sure that the platform that you're gonna be mounting it on is gonna be between 3/8 inches thick all the way up to an 1 1/4-inch thick. If it's any thicker than that, we're not gonna be able to thread it. And if it's any skinnier than that, we're not gonna be able to actually get it nice and tightened down. We do want to torque this down with a torque wrench just to make sure it's nice and solid. This one's gonna have a 3,500 pound capacity, and that's gonna mean a 350-pound tongue weight.

But just because the ball is rated for that doesn't mean that your ball mount's gonna be rated for that. And that doesn't mean that the hitch is gonna be rated. So we don't want to overload our hitch. We don't want to overload the ball mount. And, of course, the ball.

So make sure that these two are gonna be kind of in the same ballpark. And then also you wanna make sure that it's not gonna be overloading your hitch. There isn't really a whole lot to this. It's just chrome plated. It will rust over time. It's not just this one. It's pretty much all of them. So if you wanted to upgrade, I guess you can get an aluminum ball if you really wanted to keep it from rusting away, so it looks a little bit nicer. But all in all, that's basically it for a look at the Draw-Tite two-inch hitch ball..

I always go to etrailer first for anything I need for trailering equip. I bought this trailer ball however, the one that got sent was labeled correctly but the shaft was not correct and too short. Their customer service quickly fixed the situation by immediately sending me a correct ball and let me keep the previous ball for my trouble. The quality of this product is top notch and the ball is nicely chromed not like the picture.

Great deal for chromeI was delighted with Etrailer services. I bought 7 items with free shipping, and Etrailer delivered all of them in 7 days. Etrailer’s hitch ball chrome fit perfectly. It cost less than U-Haul and or dealer products. However, I have not used this product yet. I will keep you post it on wiring harness installation. I will come back and bring new customer for Etrailer and scored a perfect 10 for this product and services.

I received it in the amount of time it was to be delivered at a reasonable amount of time. I would recomend this company to anyone needs auto parts. They done a great job, Keep up the good work people. Thank you!!

by:

Works very well and easy to install. Love the step by step installation instructions offered by your company.

by:

The product was exactly what I ordered and came exactly when promised. Very good experience. etrailer had this non-standard length ball hitch in stock when no one else did.

by:

What a nice company with excellent customer service. Molly took the time to advise that one of the products on my order was backordered. She further agreed to cancel the entire order and make a new order so as to avoid holding up the shipment and allowing me to take advantage of the free shipping. As far as the product is concerned it was delivered just as described and arrived timely. I highly recommend etrailer for all towing needs. I know I will buy again.

by:

Ball has been great. A fair amount of rust discoloration, but not affecting performance at all

by:

The trailer hitch and ball was better than described.
They arrived very fast.

I ordered a hitch ball on late tuesday night and I recieved it friday morning. Super fast shipping. I also had a problem with another product I ordered 5 months prior. I called cust. service and the woman I spoke with was extremely helpful, walking me through troubleshooting the device and if defective how to return it for replacement. I will recommend Etrailer to anyone.

All etrailer products have thorough descriptions to help you find the product you need.

Great product and the price is right!!! Fits well and works well! Thanks to great guys (and gals) at etrailer.com!!!

by:

Works good, fits right. Took off one star because it was supposed to come in flat gray as pictured above but was delivered in polished chrome. No big deal, the important part was the long 3/4 diameter shank. It had a long shank in 3/4 inch diameter.

by:

It's a 2" ball with a decent shank length. It was real easy to tighten with a single wrench, thanks to the lock nut.

by:

Great ball hitch for the price.

by:

Haven't towed yet, but fits perfectly on my 98 ford explorer bumber hitch.

by:

Fits perfectly and appears to be a good quality item. No problems pulling my Boat or swamp buggy. Thanks, ACE

by:

  • Can a Trailer be Towed from the Back of the Pro Series Q Slot Bike Rack
No, the shank on the Pro Series Q Slot PS63138 was not designed to work with a ball mount so you would not be able to use it to also tow a trailer. What I recommend to carry bikes and tow a trailer is Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers - 7,500 lbs Item # D210. You could use the 2inch 2-bike part of the Q Slot and use the ball mount portion to tow the trailer. Another option is a towing bike rack such as Swagman Original 4 Bike Towing Rack...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wheel Chair Trailer Recommendation for 1993 BMW 7 Series Sedan
I have a solution for you, but our trailer hitch manufacturers do not have a Class III trailer hitch confirmed to fit the 1993 BMW 740i. The only trailer hitch we offer that is confirmed to fit your vehicle is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver with Fixed Drawbar, Class I # C11516. I have attached the installation instructions for you. This trailer hitch with fixed drawbar will allow you to pull a trailer for the wheelchair behind your BMW 740i. You can use a small trailer, such as part...

  • Trailer Hitch Ball Recommendation for a Bumper Hitch on a 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer
I would need to know the hole diameter in the bumper of your 1998 Ford Explorer. If it is smaller than the 1 inch shank on ball # 63845, the next size down would be a shank with a 3/4 inch diameter, # TR63822, rated for 3,500 pounds. Down from 3/4 inch we have a 5/8 inch diameter shank, # CB-20Z, which you normally see on lawn mowers and other small equipment so it is highly unlikely it will fit. The best way to measure the opening on the bumper would be to use a sett of dial calipers...

  • Sway Control for a 2009 Ford Escape with Factory Trailer Hitch Towing 3,300 Pound Trailer
For your 2009 Ford Escape and trailer, I recommend going with Reese Friction Sway Control Kit, # 83660. Since your Escape has a 1-1/4 hitch, you will not be able to use a weight distribution with sway control system, but you can add friction sway control to the trailer. This kit bolts to the trailer frame and includes a mounting ball to attach to the Escape. You will also need Sway Control Adapter Bracket, # RP26005. I have included a link to the installation instructions for the sway...

  • Ball Mount Included with Trailer Hitch # 11830 Accepts 2 Inch Ball on a 1999 Mercedes E-Class Wagon
Yes, you can get a 2 inch trailer hitch ball for the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver with Drawbar, # 11830. The ball mount that comes with the trailer hitch requires a ball with a 3/4 inch diameter shank. Take a look at Hitch Ball with 2 inch Diameter and Medium Shank, # TR63822. This ball has a capacity of 3,500 pounds of gross trailer weight and 350 pounds of tongue weight. Make sure you stay within the capacities of the trailer hitch and your 1999 Mercedes E-Class Wagon.

  • Do Any Modifications Need to be Made to a 2007 Volvo S-80 to Install Curt Trailer Hitch # 12287
To install the Curt Trailer Hitch, # 12287, on your 2007 Volvo S-80, you will need to temporarily lower the exhaust in order to attach the hitch to the vehicle frame. After the hitch is in place the exhaust will be put back in its original position. A heat shield will also have to be temporarily bent, also to allow the hitch to raise into position. It will be bent back when complete. Some fascia trim will be removed but it, too, will also be replaced after installation. I have included...

  • Ball Mount and Trailer Connector Adapter Recommendation for 2014 Mercedes GLK 350
It is important to choose a ball mount with the correct rise or drop needed so you can tow your trailer level. You will want to measure your hitch height, as well as the height of your trailer's coupler. The difference between these two heights will let you know which drop or rise you will want. I have attached a help article on finding the correct ball mount. You will also want to know the weight of the trailer you are towing. This is important to make sure you do not exceed the towing...
