The ball mount that comes with the trailer hitch requires a ball with a 3/4 inch diameter shank. Take a look at Hitch Ball with 2 inch Diameter and Medium Shank, # TR63822. This ball has a capacity of 3,500 pounds of gross trailer weight and 350 pounds of tongue weight. Make sure you stay within the capacities of the trailer hitch and your 1999 Mercedes E-Class Wagon.
