Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I recently discovered etrailer while searching for a specific steel spoke trailer wheel. Not only did they have the item I was looking for, but their selection was vast, and the prices were competitive. The website was easy to navigate, and the product descriptions were informative and accurate. I was pleasantly surprised by the fast shipping and the care they took in packaging my order. I’m thrilled with my purchase and will continue to shop at etrailer for all my needs.

by:

I put these on an old 2 wheel trailer to hold my portable welder. They’re doing the job well. Make the whole thing look better too!

by:

Great quality wheels and great service, only I wish I had purchased the valves to go along with the wheels.

We offer a metal valve stem as part # AM20906, which Id recommend instead of the rubber valve stems.

Bailey was very nice and helpful on the phone. Will definitely do business with her again

by:

etrailer went above and beyond to help me get a wheel i needed in a very short period of time. etrailer associates kept me in the loop the whole shipping process to ensure i received it when needed. highly recommend them for your wheel purchases. It’s hard to find companies going above and beyond to help customers and etrailer certainly went above and beyond to help me in a desperate time of need. Thank you guys very much!

Product works great. Etrailer is truly one of a kind!

by:

These rims are perfect for my project... not a trailer, but a 1978 Toyota LandCruiser FJ40. They have the perfect 70s spoke look that is period correct for the ride. I didn't have any trouble getting tires (E-Rated) mounted or balanced at the big tire chain. I've put nearly 3000 miles on them already with no issues. I chose these because they had the correct backspacing and bolt pattern for the application, no interference in the front on full wheel lock, left or right. The USA made quality is certainly there; the powder-coating was just as uniform through the center of the wheel (not seen when the tire is mounted)as it is on the outside surfaces, unlike some foreign made stuff I saw at local trailer stores. Highly recommend, even though most of you reading this need it for a trailer. I tried uploading a picture, but it just says "was unsucccessful to upload".

by:

Product was just what I needed. It was shipped very quickly esp during holiday season. I was informed all the way thru delivery. Very good service.

Working good

by:

After careful consideration I purchased 5 16x6 Dexstar wheels for my enclosed car trailer. While installing the tires you could clearly SEE on the spin balancer that 2 of the rims "not tires" were out of round and required additional weight 3.75/2.25 to bring them into balance which is more than normal. I am uncertain of the factory tolerance however I would not recommend these wheels to a friend. If I had more time I would return. This was the reason I wanted to by wheels made in the USA and not ones made across the pond.

by:

As advertised, great price, quick free delivery for the 4 wheels. Converted my Arctic Fox Silver Edition from 15 inch to 16 inch LT225/75R16 E rated tires. Note, ST tires are not rated for more then 65 MPH. Most of us tow at that speed all day long and occasionally faster, risky with ST rated tires.

by:

These wheels are an outstanding bargain and were shipped and received at my home in unbelievable time frame. This order is proof that this company is certainly # 1 in customer satisfaction! Great company with can do attitude employees!

Great, they still look new and have worked with my sons camper!

by:

These 16" wheels were as described. A good value that solved my problem.
I wish that I had purchased them earlier.

by:

Perfect upgrade to the 15" tires on my 5th wheel. Now I have a large selection for tires. I ordered valves stems too, but the wrong size (hole size). Probably my fault, but it would have been nice to be warned about the size difference. No big deal - valve stems are located all over, but the deal on these wheels are not. Thanks!

by:

A quality trailer rim. My trailer came with 15 inch wheels an so i was limited to a low rating for weight capacity. These rims were cheap yet true and a good weight rating.

by:

Exact match for the rim I was replacing

by:

both tire and wheel holding up well . good quality and good price. Thank you.

by:

Can't say enough good about this company. Their followup communication is tops. Shipping was extemely fast, even though I used the cheapest method (they upgraded me for free). I have, and will continue to buy from etrailer.com!

by:

Good quality rim. It was used (couldn’t wait for delayed delivery of a new one) and has a couple of nicks on the backside, but other than that its good.

by:

Exactly what I needed

by:

Don't have a picture but the product that I bought was just as expected and worked great. I would suggest shopping with Etrailer to everyone.

by:

Fair price, fast, safe shipping. Pam from sales was awesome!
Website is easy to use and place orders.

by:

Product is as advertised and a good value! Finish an appearance is great. Tire mounted with no problems.

by:

product came in a timely manner and the best value i could find from a reputable company. E-trailer has met my needs many times.

by:

Product received in good condition. Excellent service by etrailer. I received shipment within 5 days(would have been 3 days if UPS delivered on weekends); Thanks for good service.

by:

I received my wheel just as I ordered and ahead of schedule. Great company to do business with. Will certainly be doing more business with them.

  • Recommended Rim for a 245/75 R16 Light Truck Tire
We have wheels that work for you but the Dexstar # AM20741 isn't wide enough for your tires. A 245/75 R16 size tire needs at least a 6-1/2 inch wide rim. We carry a few 16 inch wheels that are that wide, such as # AM22657. You may be better off going with a 235/80 R16, like # TA39VR, which is basically the same diameter as the 245/75 R16 size. You will also have the benefit of a trailer tire with a thicker sidewall instead of the LT truck tires. Some LT tires are rated for trailer...

  • Maximum Load Capacity and Air Pressure on Dexstar Trailer Wheel, 16 x 6, 6 on 5-1/2, # AM20741
The load capacity and air pressure rating for the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 16 x 6 Inch Rim - 6 on 5-1/2, part # AM20741, and the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel - 16 x 6 Inch Rim - 6 on 5-1/2, part # AM20758, is 3,050 lbs at 90 psi. If this is for a trailer, the 265/75-16 tire size is usually not available in a trailer tire. The special trailer (ST) tires are designed with stronger sidewalls and can handle higher air pressures which are needed when being used on a trailer...

  • Changing to Higher Load Range G ST235/80R16 Tires on 5th Wheel Trailer
A higher Load Range E tire is going to have a larger load capacity, which will technically allow the tire to run a bit cooler under load during travel. A radial tire will also do a better job of running cooler than a bias ply alternative. Since excessive heat is the primary cause of trailer tire failure going up a bit in capacity isn't a bad idea at all. Based on my research it looks like your 2014 Crossroads Cruiser uses ST235/80R16 size tires. If this is correct I recommend the Provider...

  • Is There a Benefit to Going to a Larger Tire Size
Yes and no. Yes because if you plan on loading your trailer up to the max GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) then larger tires will last longer simply because they won't be under as much stress. With that being said, as long as you aren't exceeding the weight rating of smaller tires and you are able to remain under the speed rating then the benefit will be minimal. Another thing to note about upgrading the tire size is that you might not have the real estate to properly do so. We recommend...

At this time we do not carry 16 inch wheels with a 5 bolt pattern or a lower profile tire. First of all your tire size, 215/85-16 sounds like it's a passenger vehicle tire and not a trailer tire. Trailer tire sizes begin with "ST" for special trailer. I recommend using ST tires because they have a stiffer sidewall to handle the vertical load of a trailer. If your tires are trailer tires then you're good to go. But if they aren't I would get some trailer tires. The exception is that some LT tires can be used on trailers. Your 7.50-16's that you had were likely LT tires....

You would need enough space all around the existing tires to use the larger size. Only half of the difference is applied towards the trailer from the sidewall and above the tire tread to a fender or trailer body.
