Hello, neighbors and friends. I'm Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look together at this CURT Universal Base Rail Installation Kit for your fifth wheel trailer hitches. That's right, so if you want to put a fifth wheel trailer hitch in the bed of your truck, you're gonna need either this kit and a set of base rails. The base rails are sold separately along with that fifth wheel hitch itself. Those base rails will sit on the truck bed floor in the bed.
Now, we also sell custom installation kits that cost a little bit more money, but they're a lot easier to install in most cases. And a lot of times, they're a lot simpler and faster to install than this universal kit. But this universal kit works just as well. Again, it may just take a little longer, but it's gonna save you some money and it's also gonna give you that pride in, "Hey, I did it myself and I got it no problem whatsoever." So it's a good option as well. Now, I'm gonna zoom in here, folks.
We can see this a little better, and I'll step outta the way so we can see those black brackets in the back there. So again, you're gonna get all the L-brackets, all the nuts, bolts, hardware you see here. You got a fish tape wire there in the middle. That's for pulling the bolts through the frame of the vehicle if you need to. And they'll simply thread into that coil there on the end of this fish wire.
And then you simply pull that through the frame, thus pulling your bolt through the frame for easy access. You got a couple of spacers here, you may need those with those longer bolts, again, depending on the application. And one thing I recommend is maybe purchase this set of galvanic isolators if you have an aluminum frame such as a Ford. So this was gonna be the most effective way to prevent galvanic corrosion 'cause you don't want that steel and that aluminum to be touching each other. Otherwise, they will make galvanic corrosion is what it's called.
So you don't want that. You don't want that eating your metal away. So I recommend that if you had the aluminum frames. Well, folks, that's gonna do it for our look today at this CURT Universal Base Rail Installation Kit, again, for your fifth wheel trailer hitches. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.

Upon receipt of the E16 Hitch, R16 slider, rails, & universal installation kit I noticed one package was broken open and it contents falling out. Upon taking inventory determined parts were missing. I contacted etrailer about the missing parts and they responded amazingly. Even though the damaged packaging was not there fault I had the missing part a day and half later. The hitch was installed on time and is everything I expected it to be. I will be a return customer.
After purchasing this product to help me install hitch on my truck it was really easy to do. My truck has a flatbed instead of regular box and this kit made it very easy to secure it to the frame of my truck with this mounting system.

Was torn between a four star or a five star review. I received this faster than expected, but with damaged packaging and missing hardware. I realized that this was not the fault of etrailer, but that of the shipper. After a very brief conversation with etrailer the missing parts were shipped fairly quickly. Overall, I’m happy with etrailer, and will likely be a return customer.

The fifth wheel hitch assembled, installed, and fit as expected into my trucks short bed. I have pulled my fifth wheel several time and the hitch performs flawlessly. The slider unit provides me a much tighter turning radius without fifth wheel to truck cab interference.
