Today we are reviewing part number 40330 from Draw Tite. This is a forged one piece ball mount with a one inch rise or a two inch drop. The towing capacity is 16,000 pounds and the towing rate capacity is up to 2,400 pounds. As you can see it has a drop of two inches from the top of the shank to the ball mount platform and it has a rise of one inch from the top of the shank to the ball mount platform. It measures from the center of the hitch pin-hole which is here to the center of the ball hole-which is here and that is eight and one half inches. The ball mount platform itself is one inch tall.
It has a double powder coat finish so it should resist corosion and rust very nicely. That's it for part number 40330 from Draw Tite-the forged ball mount with a one inch rise or a two inch drop rated at 16,000 pounds.

It's also very heavy and E-Trailer needed to ship 3 times because the first two broke out of the box they were packed in. (Someone in the USPS has a couple nice draw bars.) Fortunately the 3rd effort was much better packed in a reinforced box and was successfully delivered. E-Trailer customer service was exemplary in resolving the shipment issue & I will definitely shop with them again.

I was at a farm meeting and university rep. was pointing out the dangers in hauling trailers without proper hitch assemblies.The local hardware chains do not have products made for heavy farm trailers.You guys do have all the equipment anyone needs for this type of hauling.Was happy to correct my light setup before something bad happened.Ignorance is not bliss.

Excellent. It is the best hitch we have owned. Solid steel means more control when we tow our trailer. It stores perfectly in our truck toolbox when not in service.
I needed a 2 inch drop for my tandem axle trailer to ride correctly but I could not find a ball mount locally to fit my application. An etrailer customer service team member pulled this item from their warehouse, took a couple measurements over the phone to assure me of a correct fit, and shipped it that afternoon. I pulled the trailer last weekend and this solid ball mount from Draw-Tite did the trick.

Needed a stronger ball mount for pulling my stock trailer. This one is perfect. The original I had dropped too much as well. But, be careful, this is one heavy chunk of forged steel.

I had no idea a regular old slide receiver ball mount wouldn't work for for my trailer. It turns out that my old reese ball mount from Wal-Mart was underrated and thus cracked within 2" of the ball. Thanks etrailer for making hitch grade easy to understand and potentially saving me and my family's life.
The forged ball mount is exactly what I wanted, very heavy duty. I also bought a hitch ball and trailer hitch receiver lock. Thank you etrailer for great products at a great price and very fast shipping!!!
Solid one piece of steel and coated. No welding. Also can use it as a high hitch or low hitch with approx 3 inch difference. Works great for my trailer rv
WOW! I wanted to purchase a really strong ball mount and this one exceeds my expectations! I also purchased in my order the folding wheel chocks which were made of metal. My plan is to mount those permanently on my car hauler trailer so that when I put the car on, I just drive up against these chocks. This makes loading my car super easy. I really like doing business with etrailer because every order I’ve ever placed his arrived quickly and been with products that are excellent quality.

Not sure what else to put, if you need something this heavy duty, then it works. If you only need a 6K hitch, it'll work for that too.
16K bumper pull is insane. My total truck and trailer is 13800, so better to have excess capacity than be near or over.
This item is really stout, and will give peace of mind when towing my 10,000 pound boat and trailer.

I appreciate that you take the time to follow up on past reviews and commend you for your interest in doing so. I can report that I am still completely satisfied with the products and the service from etrailer.com.
This ball mount is not your typical square stock, it is a solid piece of steel and heavy! I am using it with a class 4 Curt hitch. It fits well into receiver and ball mount nicely without excessive play.
Good product only thing I would change is top and bottom surface area where ball goes should be machined parallel to make a good surface to keep ball tight I machined mine before installing it. Im sure that it would have worked with out doing this but might of worked lose over time.
I use this when pulling heavy fertilizer spreaders behind my truck. It is not unusual to have 8000lbs on a spreader. My Coop manager says it it sht heaviest hitch he has ever seen around here.
I recently purchased a larger boat (approx. 8,000 lb with trailer and gear) and needed a heavier duty ball mount. No complaints....the ball mount is solid and does its job.
This thing is solid. Have not towed with it yet but since its rated at 16k lbs and my truck is only rated to 7k lbs its more than enough but I never like to run the limits on anything. There area lot more stresses that get put on these things when you have to panic brake for example. Only gave it 4 stars cause it is made in china. I really want American made but that's hard to find.
I've made about 5 purchases from etrailer over the past couple of years , and their prices have been excellent . No company which I have ever dealt with , matches their fast service. Etrailer puts most companies to shame , when it comes to speedy , friendly service. If they have what I want , they'll always have my business.
Bought one of the same ball mounts for another vehicle. Didn't see a reason to change what was working. The only change I made was flipping it over and using it as a 1" rise instead of a 2" drop mount.

This hitch is heavy duty and the finish on it is very thick and durable. The load ratings on this hitch are great as well as the price so there is no reason for someone to overload and take a chance on other "light" hitches.
Hitch looks good. One issue that I think may be something to think about. The hitch that I ordered is rated @ 16,000. There is no where on the hitch that the weight is stamped. This could be problematic when I get inspected by the DOT and have to try and convenience them that the hitch is rated for the 14,000 # trailer that it is connected to.
The forged trailer ball mount was heavy duty good. It is very solid and wont worry about any overload issues with this. Thanks
Awesome customer service! They upgraded my shipping for free so I got my hitch sooner than expected. This was the most affordable place I could find this either locally or on the internet. Will be using etrailer nextime I have any trailer needs at all.
I bought this knowing it exceeds my trucks tow rating, but I wanted the extra peace of mind knowing I have double the protection. It is solid hitch that will outlast me.
