What Exhaust Modification is Needed to Install Trailer Hitch # 87408 on a 2011 Lincoln Town Car
Question:
For the pass. side exhaust hangar: Can it just be removed and moved to the outboard side of the fram rail after the hitch as been bolted in? Is this the only exhaust modifcation required?

By looking over the instructions for the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 41116, since the bracket already has to be rotated 180 degrees, also moving it to the outboard side of the frame rail may make it so that it will no longer be able to reach the exhaust that hangs from it. There may also be too much space between the hitch and frame with the hanger moved to the outboard side of the frame.
I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view to give you a better idea of everything that is involved in the installation. The hanger bracket modification should be the only exhaust modification required for installation.
You may also need four 3/8 inch spacer blocks, # 01077-011, to complete installation.
For a ball mount, balls, pin and clip, I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount kit, # EBMK4EL. For trailer wiring use # 46255. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation.
