Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria with Dual Exhaust
Question:
I have a 2003 Crown Victoria with dual exhausts, and I was confused on which hitch to purchased .I read on the towing capacity which is 3000 lbs with 10 to 15 on the tongue weight. We would like a trailer light hook up as well and was wondering on what would you suggest. Hopefully I wont have to much trouble installing this. Thank you

For your 2003 Ford Crown Victoria I recommend the Curt hitch # 13707. This is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver rated for 400 pounds tongue weight and 4,000 pounds gross trailer weight so it covers the capacity of the vehicle.
Because your Crown Vic has dual exhaust there is some slight modification to the exhaust that will be needed to install this or any hitch for the vehicle. Its actually not all that difficult and I have included a link to a video showing an example installation on a model with dual exhaust.
I also recommend the extra long ball mount kit # EBMK4EL which includes a long ball mount (to clear the rear of the vehicle) interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
For a trailer wiring harness you have a couple of options, both of which are hardwire installations. First we have Hopkins harness # 46255. This kit will require cutting and splicing into the vehicle wiring. The other option is # 119250KIT. With it the harness clamps around the vehicle wires rather than splicing into them so it is easier to install and less invasive on the vehicle.
