Nearly every hitch setup suffers from a bit of slip. This free play between your trailer hitch receiver and your hitch-mounted accessory is completely normal, but it's also completely preventable. By adding the Quiet Hitch to your setup, you can stabilize your hitch-mounted accessory as it sits in the receiver to eliminate rattle, sway, and all that extra play.

USE W ACCESSORIES - BAR ON TOP

Just slip the Quiet Hitch over your tow bar, hitch adapter, ball mount, or other accessory. When you slide the accessory into the hitch receiver, position the U-bolt around the collar on the bottom of your hitch receiver. Then place the bar on top of the accessory shank and tighten the nuts onto the U-bolt. As you tighten the Quiet Hitch, the shank of your accessory will be pulled down towards the bottom of the receiver opening, thus securing it in place within the tube.

If you are going to use the Quiet Hitch with a weight distribution system, the setup will be opposite. Position the U-bolt around the top of the hitch receiver and place the bar on the bottom of the weight distribution shank. As you tighten the nuts on the Quiet Hitch, the shank will be pulled up towards the top of the receiver to help balance the downward force that is placed on the hitch from the weight distribution system.

Benefits for a Tow Bar

Using an anti-rattle device, such as the Quiet Hitch, is recommended when flat towing a vehicle. Besides reducing wear and tear on your tires, hitch receiver, and tow bar, using an anti-rattle device can help prevent more serious problems. A small amount of free play at your hitch may not seem like much, but this sway is magnified the farther back you go. A little movement at the hitch translates to a lot of movement at the rear of your towed vehicle. By using the Quiet Hitch, you eliminate this sway at the source.

Note: If you have a towing setup that includes a drop receiver or a high-low adapter, use 2 immobilizers to make your system as secure and rattle-free as possible. Use 1 Quiet Hitch at the connection point between the adapter and your hitch, and use the other where your tow bar slides into the adapter.

I had a load of noise from my hitch when towing, the shank tipping up and down as we traveled down the road. This solves the vertical movement and nearly eliminates that hitch noise. Still working on the lateral movement. Remember to check the bolts for proper torque every few months, they can, and do, loosen overtime. We never remove our hitch, so removing and reinstall has not been an issue.

Ordered the Roadmaster 062 quiet hitch on Monday and received it on Thursday.
It seems upon installation to work great. Thanks for the quick delivery and quality product. Will definitely use etrailer in the future

by:

Works great. I don’t have to hear that rattle from the hitch That’s annoying to me just hearing with a load or no load.
I also have in two inch also.

by:

This is a great product works well, we have a fleet of trailers and although this may not be necessary it makes such a difference down the road.

by:

I’m glad that I bought the road master quiet hitch for 2 1/2” receiver. It works great! So nice to look in my mirror and see my rocktamers not wiggling.

The best one that I had found on a 3 inch receiver

by:

This roadmaster quiet hitch performed flawlessly no movement or rattling on my bike rack with our 2 e-bikes each 90 lbs.The hitch was locked in tight to our motor home. Thank you roadmaster

by:

Excellent purchase. This one really works! I highly recommend it!

by:

Took 5 minutes to hook up! Jumped in and pulled my little trailer without all the racket. I read where a person suggested a little shorter length on the bolts which makes sense now, but it works like a charm. Thanks etrailer.

Doesn't fit my 2019 Ram 2.5" receiver/h itch.

This will fit any hitch receiver with the outside dimensions of 3.5625 inches by 4.1875 inches.

by:

No movement at all after installation. Have been using for 1 year while towing our travel trailer around the country.

by:

Easy to install. Seems to work great.

The product works very well. Im very happy with it.

by:

Great product. I have 2 suggestions for improvement: 1. All trailer hitches I've seen are black - both the receiver and the hitch. Please make this product black. The first thing I did with mine was had it powder coated black because painting it will just scratch off. 2. Shorten the length of the bolts just a little, There is over 1" of excess bolt on each side. You could save money in materials by shortening the bolts.

I love the product. The only recommendation that I have is that I would offer it in a Black Powder Coat Finish - that’s what I did to mine.

by:

This is a really great product, I only wish the u-bolt was ridiculously thicker. For the majority of applications, this product will work perfectly.

4 stars for the product and 5 for etrailers customer service. etrailer was great about putting a hold on my order and notifying me because I bought a 2 1/2” anti-rattle clamp and a 2” receiver mount. I called them and told them the items were not going to be used together and my order was at my front door in less than a week.

I have mixed emotions about this item. I have a 3/4 ton truck with a 2-1/2 inch receiver and an adapter to change it to a 2 inch receiver. I generally carry a duel dirt bike carrier with it and there is a lot of slop. The anti rattle device didn’t seem to work very well with this application. There was just too much weight on the hitch for left to right wobble and if the truck bounced a little, so would the bike carrier with bikes on it. The u-shaped part of the bracket bent a little as I anticipated, even though it is thick, but the aluminum cross bar was very strong. I welded some metal shims to the dirt bike carrier and the 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch adapter to eliminate most of the slop and it seems to work much better. It works very well with regular light duty towing. Overall the product is great for lighter duty applications but not heavy duty dirt bike carriers.

by:

Set it up per the instructions and torque to specs, arrived at campsite and unhitched the trailer, and it was loose. Locknuts still tight, but the unit flopped around. Went ahead and tighten the bolts again, ignoring the torque spec, when I got home and unhitched it was loose again. Not impressed by this product, and would not ever buy again.

This Road Master Quiet Hitch does require a collar or ring on your hitch opening to have a surface to attach to. If you do not have a hitch receiver with a collar the Roadmaster quiet hitch will not stay attached.

by:

I ordered 2 quiet hitches because I have a hitch extender on the back of my Travel Trailer for a bicycle rack. I attached both quiet hitches and my bicycle rack does not move, stays rock solid.

Keeps my hitch from moving and making noise. Works exactly as advertized

by:

I used a hitch extension, so I needed two RM-062. Easy to install. Completely seizes the extension and the hitch. No rattle at all. Secondary lock nut works well. Shipped on time. Priced right. etrailer great to deal with. Downside, the recommended torque setting is too much.

Andrew

I bough5 several for multiple vehicles. I tightened the first to recommenced torque setting, which I believe is too tight. As predicted when I took that one off the threads were ruined. The others were OK. Use a good lube when tightening the S.S. parts. The produce works well. ETrailer did a great job.

by:

Excellent product to reduce the noise and movement of our trailer hitch. Removed all the noise and movement we would hear while travelling down the highway. Great improvement and highly recommend.

Not a hint of a problem, totally satisfied.

by:

I used the 2 inch model on my last truck and was very happy with how it helped keep the hitch very quiet. I just purchased the 2.5 inch for my new 2500 truck. I haven’t used the new one yet but the quality looks good.

Terry S.

8/22/2020

Works good. I use it all the time.

by:

Hello. I have not towed with the anti-rattle yet. The fit and quality of the product over the insert and 2.5" receiver is good. My son has one for his truck, and it works great, figured I would try it.
Thank you.

by:

Everything I buy off of etrailer is quality products. Shipping is fast and when you do call they do a great job. I do not have a photo because I haven’t received this item yet. I did purchase the same item just a 2 inch for my travel trailer and it works great. They do a great job at etrailer

by:

I had a Quiet Hitch for my 01 Dodge and it worked great. When I upgraded to my 2014 it had a 2-1/2in receiver. I purchased the larger Quiet Hitch and am very happy with it. It does everything the product info says and then some. Great product and easy to install. Would recommend it to anyone who pulls a trailer.

by:

Large for 2015 SD Ford 2.5" hitch but still steadies bike rack and hitch mounted mud flaps well. A bit of work/time tightening/loosening to take on/off. You could probably make one cheaper. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to eliminate rocking hitch play/noise.

by:

Works well, but on a Ram 2500 with the OEM hitch mount you have to be a little innovative. Neither end will fit between the hitch mount and the bumper. You have to run the U-bolt from the bottom through the safety chain bracket and put the bar on the top. You cannot use both nuts, nor can you put a lock nut under the flanged nut, but I used some loctite and haven't had any problems yet.

by:

Really like this product. After trying others that just did not do the job I was very happy that I found this Roadmaster Quiet Hitch. I purchased from etrailer both the 2" for my SUV and the 2-1/2" for my 2500 truck with a Class V hitch. They work GREAT!

  • How to Stabilize Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier for 2-1/2" Hitch Receivers
Absolutely! I have 2 different recommendations to keep the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier w/ 2" Receiver Opening - 2-1/2" Hitches # RM95MR stabilized during travel, and it just depends on what exactly you're looking for. As the Buyers Products Plain Receiver Tube 2-1/2" I.D. x 12" Long # 337RT255812 is a fabrication part, the tongue weight capacity will depend on the other parts used and what it will be installed on. Due to this, it does not carry a specific tongue weight load capacity. However, this is rated to tow up to 20,000 pounds, when properly assembled with other heavy duty components, so it should meet or exceed most Class IV and possibly Class V hitches as well.
