AJ: What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we will be checking out this pro series anti-rattle device. Now what this does is it takes that shake and play out of your ball mount or cargo carrier, or even bike rack that it fits on. As you can see the ball mount goes up and down, back and forth. When you're driving on the road, you're going to hear that. We're going to install this and show you how it takes it out of it.

To attach our device, we're going to go ahead and pull the ball mount out. We're going to slide the device on, put it back in the hitch, find the hole just like you normally would. We're going to go ahead and put our pin in now. Then we're going to move the device up to the edge of the hitch. Work it in just a little bit. There you go.

You can see it sits, flush against the hitch, and then we'll just tighten the bolt back down. As you tighten it down, you're going to feel way more tension on it and that's taken away the shake and play from the ball mount. I tightened down the bolt, now we're going to tighten down the jam nut, just to give it that extra help. Looks like it's already pretty tight. Look at this, remember that shake and play, and that up and down, it's not happening anymore.

It's that easy to install, and it works that well. Like I said, it's not shaking, it's not moving like it was before at all. You can use this on your bike rack or your cargo carrier to take out that shake.Actually, we're going to show you that on a cargo carrier here in a little bit, but you have different options when it comes to these anti-rattle devices. Some of them only work with hollow shanks, and those would be the anti-rattle hitch pins that would go inside of the shank, and you put like a little block in there with the spring, and then you put the pin through that way. Those are great, but again, only work with hollow shank.

This isn't a hollow shank ball mount. This one goes along the outside, and it'll work with all those different types of ball mounts. So I think this one's actually better. I've used one also that has four or five bolts at the bottom. That one worked really well too, but it didn't have the jam nuts. The jam nut really makes it on this one so that the bolt can't get backed out and over time when you're towing or whatever, just in here.Taking a closer look at it, you can see it's a black powder coat finish and one solid piece of steel. So that's awesome, because you don't have a bunch of moving pieces or parts that you can lose. You really just have this bracket, this nut, and this bolt, and really when you go to take it off, you can just unscrew it here, and leave the bolt in there, and it's all going to stay in one piece. Plus, it's small enough to store pretty much anywhere you need it to.We've been sold the etrailor aluminum cargo carrier, just to show you how much shake and play the anti-rattle device is going to take out of it. Now I can move it with one hand, and show you all the movement it has, but that's aluminum, so it's not as heavy as a normal cargo carrier, so that's why it's moving so much. Let's go ahead and get it installed. We've installed this, check it out. You can see it's still moving just a little bit, but man, it's way less than it was before. So that just goes to show you whether you're using a cargo carrier, or a bike rack, or a ball mount, it's going to get the job done. That does it for our look at the pro series anti-rattle device..

Pro Series Anti-Rattle Device for 2" x 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers - PS63091

It doesn't work. The bolt it too short so it never tightens up. Pretty poor design. I will attempt to get a bolt that makes it functional but this should not happening. Apparently no one is thinking ahead in the shop that fabricates this and charges 30 bucks for a stamping and a bolt/nut.

by:

Would not thread. I threader from top instead of bottom to clear powder coat from threads. Backed out and inserted in the bottom with WD40 and it works now. Mounted to hitch and works as expected

by:

as always, etrailer WANTS TO KNOW IF YOU ARE HAPPY, GREAT, YES, VERY HAPPY, WORKS AS PROMISED

by:

Works great and blends with hitch and receiver nicely.

by:

This is light duty. Tightened but loosens up. Retightened and it bend the metal where the nut is welded to the bracket. I purchased a heavy duty online that is much more robust. I would not recommend this product for anything that requires extra strength application.

by:

Ordered a curt 45794. The receiver hole lines up ok
(without) the anti rattle device BUT (with) the anti rattle device hole (1/4")
shy of lining up due to weld.

by:

Product arrived on time and works pretty well

by:

The nuts that are welded on the inside were at an angle. I have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma this product would not fit because of hitting the Welded loops on the hitch for the safety chains. It would not allow my hitch to slide into the receiver far enough for the pin.

by:

I'm very Happy!!!, with this Hitch Silencer. I've been to Northern Maine twice in the past year and New Hampshire hauling my SxS and this unit has held strong and silent. A must for anyone tired of hearing Hitch Rattle. Highly Recommend!!!

by:

I used this the day after I received it. It's easy to install. It turned as trip with the trailer into a non-event with no beating and banging with the trailer. A relatively smooth ride and a lot more pleasant than previously. The only downside (its minor) is that the bolt and jam nut are different sizes (9/16" & 11/16"). It'd be nice to need only 1 wrench. Regardless, it was money well spent. If you have a noisy trailer or hitch, I'd get this anti-rattle clamp. Additionally, the welds were clean and smooth and the part looked powder coated. So, it should weather well over the years.

by:

I do not recommend this item. It is not constructed well enough to function as described. The bottom bent down slightly where the bolt is and loosened up. It might be ok for a small trailer with not much weight but it is of no use for anything else.

by:

Wont fit! You have to have more access on your slide in hitch for this to work. When its on you cant get holes to line up to secure hitch. Sad as I was excited to try this out. Will be returning asap

I do have a few alternatives to suggest. If you have an accessory like a ball mount or cargo carrier for example that has a hollow shank, you can use part # 63232 which is an anti-rattle lock.

by:

Plenty of options available online to fix the rattling problem from my trailer hitch accessories. Can't wait to try it and based on the design, it appears it should at least help limit noise/movement!

by:

Just not heavy duty enough for my ease lift setup with lift bars on travel trailer. More suited for a light duty application like utility trailer without the bar setup.

by:

Did not fit on a MB Metris 2016 factory installed trailer Hitch.
Hate to give it a poor rating because I was not able to put it to the test.

by:

The product was great and the service and delivery are excellent. The only slight problem was in the video where they made the process of attaching the receiver sound easier than it was. My brother helped me and we have all the tools needed and are good at that kinda of stuff. But some of the procedures were difficult.

by:

Had it a year now and it won’t stay tight. I’ve even torqued it beyond the limits and it still work’s it’s way loose after 1-3 road trips. The Mfg. should devise a way to lock down. Prevent this, and still be able to remove it when ready.

by:

This thing really works. The bolt isn't quite long enough to allow the locking nut to be used however; another 3/8 would make the design perfect. If you would really like to refine this design, I suggest making the square hole smaller- just large enough to slide over the toung. The unit does work both ways- having the bolt positioned on top as well as on the bottom. I have it set up on top for ease of tightening the bolt. Hope this helps.

by:

Excellent product, easily installed, ended trailer hitch/tongue instability...

by:

Works great. It holds the hitch securely and eliminates any wobble or rattle that there previously was. The best part is is that it is hardly noticeable when attached to the hitch.

by:

I had the unit for several months before trying to use it. I found it to be defective and completely unusable. Heavy overflow from the weld was inside the nut threads. The bolt could not be inserted. I tried cleaning the excess metal with a file but it was too extensive. Had to proceed without it. Do not buy.

by:

Haven't installed it yet, but upon screwing in the locking bolt, it stripped on a weld blob that had found its way into the threads of the welded nut. I ground off the weld blob and bought a new locking bolt at the hardware store. Hope this thing works...

by:

This works as described. The rattle from an unloaded trailer is eliminated. I did find some welding spatter on the threads that I had to remove with a tap. Overall I am satisfied.

by:

Works great to take out some of the bounce when the trailer is empty. Just used it on one long trip so far so I don't know about longevity yet. I was going to make one but for the price it isn't worth the time.

by:

This works great for heavy hitch setup. Stops rattling and also keeps the shank tightly
Secured on trucks tow bar, which prevents wear on female end.

  • Can MaxxTow Anti-Rattle Clamp be Used with a Travel Trailer
The MT70258 is an accessory anti-rattle device so provided you are using it on the back of your travel trailer in a hitch mounted accessory, such as a cargo carrier, you will be good to go. But it is not rated for use on the tow vehicle for towing a trailer. If that is what you are looking for I recommend the similar Pro Series device # PS63091. I have linked videos of both devices for you.

  • Will Anti-Rattle Device for Trailer Hitch Receivers Work with a ReadyBrake System
The Pro Series Anti-Rattle Device # PS63091 will work on any ball mount or hitch mounted accessory (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) that fits a 2 inch hitch receiver. It connects to the draw bar or accessory rather than the receiver, so it will work just fine with a ReadyBrake or other receiver style supplemental braking system.

  • How Can I Tighten the Fit Between My Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack
I have the perfect solution for you. Check out the Pro Series Anti-Rattle Device for 2" x 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers # PS63091. This device inserts between the receiver and your bike rack, then tightens down with included bolt and jam nut. If you are using a bike rack for a 1-1/4 hitch, you would use a similar product # RM-061-125. Check out the videos of these products. Also, if you tell me what bike rack you have, I may have other more specific solutions for your setup that could help.

  • How to Make a Reese Bike Rack More Stable in the Hitch of a 2009 Toyota RAV4
Sounds like you will need an anti-rattle device to make your bike rack more stable in your Toyota's trailer hitch. I recommend the Pro Series Anti-Rattle Device for 2 x 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receivers, # PS63091. The Pro Series device will insert between the trailer hitch receiver and your bike rack. The adjustable bolt and jam nut will allow you to stabilize the bike rack and help eliminate the wobble in the trailer hitch.

Both of these bike racks are great but if you plan on just bringing 1 to 3 bikes the Swagman Original 3 Bike Rack # S64152-2 is good choice, allowing up to 35 pounds per bike. The Swagman Original 4 Bike Rack S64400 is the same rack as the 3 bike option but with an added allowance of up to 35 more pounds. Both are fine choices but the Swagman Original 4 Bike Rack is going to be the option you are most likely looking for allowing for the most weight and bikes to be carried. Additionally...

Hey John, You could use an anti-rattle device like the Curt Anti-Rattle Hitch Clamp for 2-1/2" Hitches # C87UR to help with the rattling but would likely still experience some since you're using a reducer sleeve. The best way to get rid of the slop would be to replace your current shank with one compatible with 2-1/2" hitches like the # EQ90-02-4900. As far as using an anti-rattle device with the 2" Hitch Cap Sensor for GMC Sierra MultiPro and Chevy Silverado Multi-Flex Tailgate # C56UR, it depends on what style of anti-rattle device you have. For example, if you have an anti-rattle hitch pin like the # 63232, these will not interfere with the # C56UR.
