Hi everyone. Aiden here with the etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at our Gen Y anti-rattle clamp for two and a half inch hitches. This is something that can slide over our hitch-mounted accessories, tighten down with these two bolts on the top and secure it to remove any sort of shake or play in the hitch. We've got a pretty large ball mount with us here today. This is one of their torsion ball mounts so it does have some shock absorption in there, but if you don't have enough weight loaded up into the ball mount or it's just empty, there is still just a standard hitch pin and clip that's run through there.
So any sort of side to side movement and especially any sort of up and down movement that isn't absorbed by that torsion system is gonna make a lot of noise in our hitch. So let's go ahead install the anti-rattle clamp and see how it works. We will need to get our accessory removed from the hitch to get it installed. So I'm just gonna get this out of the hitch and then I've got those bolts loose right now. I'm just gonna slide this over with the bolts facing where the hitch is gonna be.
Then just a matter of lifting it back up into place and sliding it in until that hitch pin hole is aligned and we run our pin back through. (pin clangs) Once we've got it where we want it, this can slide over the collar of our hitch receiver and tighten down using our 9/16th socket. Now upon getting this in a position, I think a longer socket would do us a lot of good here so I am going to get that and we can tighten these down. As I'm doing this I'm just applying a bit of forward pressure on here just to make sure it stays aligned with the outer edge of our hitch. And I also wanna make sure I'm going back and forth between those two bolts to make sure I'm tightening things evenly 'cause we do want it to have a good even hold over the hitch.
And as I'm starting to feel a lot more resistance here on both of them, I'd say we're pretty good. We can go ahead and try this out. Side to side, we still get a little bit of movement but really this is applying pressure up and down. So let's see how that works. There's definitely still some movement but the sound is a lot quieter and I'm much more able to move the whole truck by lifting by the hitch here rather than getting all that movement inside the receiver tube.
So overall I'd say it's working really well. And that's really all there's to it. It's a pretty simple install and very quick accessory to get added onto your hitch mounted accessory. With it, it doesn't do a whole lot besides take away that shake and play but that can be really big when you're going down the road. Just taking away that extra noise in our hitch makes things feel more secure and it's a lot nicer not having to hear that when we're going down the road. I think overall it's gonna do really well and it's gonna take out most of that shake and play for your hitch mounted accessories. Thanks for watching.
