Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at this Blue Ox Hitch Immobilizer. This is going to help keep your hitch mounted accessories, like your tow bar, drop receiver, bike rack, or other hitch mounted accessory nice and stable and secure. Helps to eliminate the rattle and sway within your hitch receiver, by stiffening and reinforcing the receiver. So this top bar here is actually going to sit on top of your receiver tube, and then this lower bar is going to be kind of angled, and it's going to be underneath your accessory, like your tow bar or drop receiver.
So as you tighten down the nuts here, it's going to lift up on that accessory and then lift it in the receiver tube. So that's going to help reduce that rattle and sway, make it nice and stiff for you, but this will fit on your three-inch by three-inch trailer hitch receivers. It is very quick and easy to get mounted in place. And you are going to get the brackets, bolts, and nuts with this, so everything that you're going to need to put it together. Works great. I have a 1 ton Dually Ford. The tow hitch that I have attached to. It is very heavy and rattled considerably before I installed this device. Now it is virtually silent with no rattling.

I feel it’s a good product but after about 6 months one day as I was doing a walk around inspection it caught my eye that one of the bolts was broke. Maybe I over tightened I’m not sure, I bought two new bolts grade 8 and replaced them going strong now.

With Ford's better idea, lining up all of the sleeves to neck down from 31/2 to 21/4, this locked everything together very nicely. Extremely well built.

great device. i've tried many, most have mixed metals & all rusted, except this one. Therefore it is really easy to remove without rusty jammed bolts

It did not work. It did not stop the hitch slop. Both the upper and the lower cross bars bent. Definitely not worth the money.

Installs rather easily. The bolt shafts were a little tight around my 2020 Ford's 3" hitch collar. But OK to deal with.
I was looking for a U-bolt style with bent plate at the bottom, however this was the only 3" bolt-on solution I found.
Bolt head is 5/8 nuts are 11/16

We do have our Trailer Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeves # e33YR which includes a 3" to 2-1/2" reducer and 2-1/2" to 2" reducer. These can be used individually or together if you need to go from a 3" to 2" receiver. We do not have any that are both magnetic like our 2-1/2" to 2" Reducer # e28JR you found. I do recommend using a Anti-Rattle # BLU85QR when using the reducers as there is going to be additional play in the hitch.
