Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a brief look at this GEN-Y anti-rattle clamp for two inch hitch receivers. This anti-rattle device is going to keep your hitch mounted accessory from rattling and swaying inside of your two inch hitch receiver. This is going to work with your ball mounts, your tow bars, and hitch mounted accessories such as your bike racks and cargo carriers. This is going to be a fast and easy installation.

You're just going to slip this clamp over your accessory shank, and then insert the shank into your two inch hitch receiver. And then you're going to tighten these bolts to prohibit movement inside of your hitch receiver. Now this clamp is made here in the USA of a durable steel construction with a black powder coated finish. It's going to help resist rust and corrosion. Again, this is for your two inch hitch receiver, but we also have the same thing for your two and a half inch hitch receiver as well.

So if that one would work better for you, I have the one for your two and a half inch hitch on the screen. Just take the item number and put it in the search field of our website and it will take you to that version. Well that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. The bracket looks good on the vehicle and works as advertised. I have zero movement on the trailer hitch after installation.

by:

Every Anti-Rattle Clamp I've tried so far has deformed and the hitch returned to rattling in the receiver. I thought the Gen-Y would be the solution, but not so much. I plan to bend the Gen-Y back into shape, then weld some stiffeners onto the clamp. Will see how that works.

by:

Nice anti rattle clamp. Was a little worried from the picture that it might be light or flimsy.. Not the case, heavy duty and worked great with the Gen-Y drop hitch.

by:

Great little device,I would have given it 5 stars if it came with black bolts, had to go to ace an spend another $3.00 for them. I received it a day ahead of time an the sales staff were great as always.

by:

Shipped and delivered quickly! Works as advertised and well built.

by:

Fits well and removes the rattle.

See what our Experts say about this Gen-Y Hitch Hitch Anti-Rattle

  • Does Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp Work With 2 Inch Trailer Hitch on Ford F-150
The Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers # GY88XR is actually designed to fit over the shank of a ball mount or accessory that fits into a 2-inch trailer hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch # C86HR that fits certain model year Ford F-150's and F-150 Raptors. So, the short answer is yes, the clamp will absolutely work with the hitch, but it does not go around the lip, it will actually go into the receiver and then you'll tighten it. If you take a look at the linked video review...

  • Is There a Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp Available for a 2 Hitch?
The Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp # 325-GH-063 is actually designed for 2 1/2" hitches. For your 2" hitch, you will need the # GY88XR. This is smaller in size and is specifically designed for 2" hitches. The wedge style of these anti-rattle devices has offered very good stabilization when needed. I do need to mention that with this being a wedge style device, it may need a little force to get it in the hitch and working properly. I included a review video we have of the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamps...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2012 Scion xB
I can certainly help you choose a trailer hitch and bike rack for your 2012 Scion xB. Many people choose to keep their bike racks installed on their trailer hitch all the time. What we recommend, and what is recommended by most manufacturers such as Thule, to remove the bike rack when not in use so it is not exposed to the elements more than is necessary. Keeping the rack protected from rain, dirt, debris, and the sun will help extend the life of your bike rack. Removing the rack when not...

  • How to Prevent Hitch Pin Hole Deformity
It is not extremely uncommon for the hitch pin hole on a trailer hitch receiver to become oblong after frequent usage. This is usually attributed to frequent back and forth movement of the shank inside the receiver tube opening that in time will deform the hitch pin hole. A good way to prevent or reduce this would be to use an anti-rattle device like part # GY88XR. Since the hitch pin hole on your existing trailer hitch has become deformed then I do recommend replacement as the problem...

There are a couple different anti-rattle devices available to help reduce the rattle you said you are getting with your hitch on your 2002 Pilot. One adapter is the Brophy Stabilizer Clamp and U-Bolt, part # RSCP. This uses a U-bolt to slip over the hitch and a plate that holds the ball mount in place in the hitch by tightening the U-bolt. • Sleeve Style Anti Rattle Device for 2 Inch Hitch Extender
We have just what you're looking for with the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers # GY88XR. The sleeve acts as a wedge to take out play between your hitch receiver and extender. Although it does not not require a wrench and a significant amount of force to install, like an anti-rattle bolt would, it will require you to use the included Allen tool to tighten down the two set screws on the corners. I've attached a video that explains how it works in more detail.

The Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount part # 325-GH-325 can be used for both towing and hitch mounted accessories at the same time. That said, the ball mount would likely need to be in one of the bottom two holes with the hitch mounted accessory in the top. In regards to weight, it has a very high 1,500 lb rating so as long as the tongue weight of the trailer and weight of the hitch mounted accessory are below this you will be fine. It's built like a tank so you should not have any concerns...

  • How to Reduce Movement of the Ball Mount Inside the Trailer Hitch Receiver Tube
It is very unlikely that the hitch pin hole on your Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver is worn causing the ball mount to slide back and forth. • Comparing Hitch Expander With Collar To Those Without Collar For Anti-Rattle
The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver with 5" Rise # HT5R does not have the collar or lip as you referenced. The # HTAD has the collar and there is one benefit to the collar when using certain anti-rattle devices. For instance, the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061 requires that collar to stay in place. Other options like the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers # GY88XR don't require the collar.

  • Lock and Anti-Rattle Device That Can be Used with Solid Shank
While you can both lock your accessory or ball mount as well as use an anti-rattle device, there isn't an option for a single device that will do both. For a solid shank what I recommend is using a simple hitch receiver lock, the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880 with the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp # GY88XR, both of which are for 2" trailer hitches. These are also available if you have a 1-1/4" hitch (Lock # e98879, Clamp # RM-061-125).

Please note that the overall weight capacity of your trailer hitch will be reduced by 50% and this will increase the amount of play you see from the accessory you plan on installing in this extender. • Can a Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin Be Used with a Ball Mount
An anti-rattle hitch pin will work for both hitch mounted accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers in addition to a ball mount with a hollow shank. However, most ball mounts have a solid shank and most anti rattle hitch pins used for bike racks are specific to that rack which is also the case for the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Bolt part 25056 which only works with Softride hitch-mounted bike racks and cargo carriers. A better option for a ball mount with a solid shank is a sleeve...

  • How to Reduce Wobble when Using Curt Cargo Carrier C18145 in a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
Hitch accessories tend to wobble, especially those that use a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter. The threaded hitch pin can only do so much to combat the movement. The issue is that the shank of the accessory has to be slightly smaller than the opening otherwise it would be difficult to insert and remove the accessory. That combined with the single attachment point and width of a cargo carrier means that even the smallest gap between shank and receiver seems huge at either end of the carrier. What...
