  • Hydraulic actuator synchronizes trailer brakes with tow-vehicle brakes
  • Manual reverse lockout lets you reverse without actuating your trailer's brakes
    • Easy-to-use lever activates lockout
    • Free-backing brakes not required - works with uni-servo and duo-servo brakes
  • Breakaway kit included
  • Bolt-on installation

Specs:

  • Application: hydraulic drum brakes
  • Ball size: 2"
  • Mounting: 3" wide channel tongue
  • Capacity: 7,500 lbs
  • Maximum tongue weight: 750 lbs
  • 1-Year warranty

When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

The reverse lockout can be engaged with a simple lever on the coupler. Once the lockout has been activated, you can back up your trailer without triggering the trailer brakes. Always remember to disengage the lockout mechanism when preparing to move forward.

I really like the sleekness of the hitch. However the emergency cable was pretty scuffed up, see pictures. Also I’m using this for a boat application and would think a screw cap rather that a rubber plug would be more appropriate to keep water out if backed into the water. Just my thoughts.

Based on those pictures I am not comfortable with how that cord arrived. We will be in contact with you about it.

Great product. I replaced my old, ineffective drum brakes with new disk brakes and a new coupler / actuator. Much more effective braking on my trailer now. Well worth the cost and effort to possibly save an accident with the crummy old drum brakes.

Even better than the great product is the fantastic service from eTrailer support. I had several questions that they helped me through. They even pulled a caliper from their stock so they could see exactly what I was asking about and helped me resolve the issue. Always prompt, courteous and thorough. I never felt like they were hurrying to get me off the phone. Thanks eTrailer!

Worked great, added the reverse solenoid as well.

Thank you for your fast shipping and low price for the Titan surge hitch for my boat! The free shipping was awesome and very well packaged. This unit is very good quality, well made. I didn't get an owners manual for it but it is available for free online. My only "complaint" is that it is about 10" longer than my previous hitch but it is much better quality and I know it will offer me no problems on lake day. Easy installation. Haven't towed yet but I expect no problems. A+ etrailer.com is my new go to.

by:

Broken, incorrect and paid to get it sooner: ordered a Titan swing tongue with brake actuator and manual lockout. Got a piece of crap(dexter)with broken bushings. Missing most hardware. Electric lockout. Be careful with what you get .Called and got we need pics. No return call for hours.

by:

Great piece blows the old attwood for drums i had out of the water no more having to hold the tounge open to get ball to seat. Oh not to mention you can get across the trailer without killing your self and catching shorts and pants on coupler. Great upgrade for ski boat trailer! Worth the extra $. Latch is so much more secure.

by:

Even though I haven't installed the part yet, I can tell the surge brake actuator is of high quality. The metal is thick and put together well. It is a bit longer than my old unit which is actually a good thing. Only concern is the backup pin, worried i may lose it. Going to call and order a spare. Ordered and received even quicker than I expected with no damage. Thank you

by:

i dont know if you got my message but huge box and no packing paper and no backup lockout pin please advise thanks mike

Have had for about a year and just installed it.When I took the cap off to put brake fluid in I found the master cylinder about 1/2 full of water.Hitch assy .was stored in my garage until last week when I installed it.Cylinder bound up with rust.Since I did not check unit when I received it I am going to take the blame--I should have checked it out immediately after receipt. I ordered new cylinder and during the installation process I found the fitting in the end or the defective cylinder was for one for drum brakes(small hole in it).Makes me think someone put this defective cylinder in before it was shipped to me---but can't prove that either.
I have the same hitch on another trailer I have had for several years and really like it.Has manual lock out + the solenoid for electrical lock out.Love the way it locks down on the ball.
Lesson learned--inspect everything immediately upon receipt-especially pull the caps and look in the cylinders-check everything twice--cost me a second cylinder --won't happen again.

I expected better from y’all. The actuator fit the trailer with minimal modifications required on the brake lines to replace a 34 year old actuator that is no longe made, but there wasn’t an owners manual or instructions. When I called to request a user manual I was told they are not shipped with the equipment. I have never purchased something as important as a braking system without a manual. The rep I talked to said she would contact the manufacturer and request they send a user’s manual to me and y’all would let me know if they will send one. Not the answer I was expecting. I will think twice about buying something as important as a braking system from y’all again. I’m NOT HAPPY as my customer will not accept the trailer without a user manual. I did look on line for information on the coupler and what I found only pertains to an electric lockout to backup the trailer and absolutely nothing about a manual lock out. I hav yet to hear anything from the rep about my request for a user manual. A simple thing like a user manual shouldn’t be an issue when I spent over $[XX]for an important piece of equipment.

5 years ago I purchased a disc brake kit for my 24' boat trailer. It had the standard rusted out drum kits so I thought to make the move to disc, as I do my boating in the saltchuck. The install went super easy and it has given me great service.
So, I have a new trailer that needs a full rebuild of the brakes. I started on the website, and as I was assembling my order, a couple of questions come up. So I called Customer Support. Katie was the one who answered the phone and walked me through what was needed, confirmed the differences in a couple of the components that were not explained on the website. Even tracked down one of the technical guys to explain the backup valve functionality. She then walked through the parts listing to confirm, so when it arrives, there would be no surprises or shortages.
Here next step was to confirm shipping dates. She checked stock on all the parts, a couple were back ordered, so she confirmed when they were to arrive, so the 1 shipment would be complete. As I am in Canada, coordinated with the broker to get the parts to me.
At the end of the call, I had the pricing, which was AWESOME, confirmation of shipping dates and contact info, if I had questions or concerns.
The day she said it would arrive at the broker, it DID! She followed up with the status!
Looking forward to getting the system installed next week!
Thanks again for great service and having knowledgeable folks to work with!

The kit was fairly strait forward, but the included instructions are not complete. There was nothing for the installation of the hubs, rotors, bearings, or calipers. Customer service was able to email me some generic instructions that helped.

etrailer's customer service is excellent, when I discovered some bolts missing from the box and had no time to wait for replacements to be shipped out Anna from etrailer made sure that I got refunded the cost of the bolts. I am very satisfied with the service I received and will defiantly be doing business with etrailer again!

I have a 2011 Lund impact 1775 on a Shorelander single axle trailer which tips the scale around 2500# dry. I felt that surge brakes would be a smart investment and take some pressure off my Ford F150 to help stop that beast. I researched kits, actuators, calipers and rotors and decided on the Kodiak caliper and rotor kit and the Titan actuator. eTrailer had both in stock, a convenient hose kit to boot and fair price so I purchased the lot from them. Delivery was very quick and all of the hardware arrived together and in good shape. It took me one afternoon to assemble the actuator on my swing \-away tongue and another to install the calipers and rotors. There was one snag with the hose kit, in that one of the hoses was incorrect. I contacted Bryan at eTrailer and he was very accommodating; rushing the correct hose to me and then following up by phone when I received it. It took about two hours to finish the installation and I couldn't be more pleased, both with the quality of the products and the first-rate service! I have yet to bleed the system and take it out for a run but I don't anticipate any issues. I fully recommend eTrailer, their products and service!

I want to thank you again for your assistance in getting me the correct parts for my trailer brake installation. I took three major road trips with the boat last year and the trailer brakes worked flawlessly. The major reasons I installed the braking system were: the overall weight of the boat and trailer in relationship to my pickup 2006 F150 and braking performancesafety on wetslick roads. Both of these concerns were tested last year with wonderful results. I have been telling my friends, with similar trailer packages, to investigate your product. Thanks again,

Great CS! Product received was as described. Stacey (CSR) very responsive and professional in dealing with special shipping requests.

Brake actuator installed

by:

Needed to add length to trailer tongue to reduce sway. This did it simplest way possible. It worked! And in the bargain was simple actuator to adjust and easier function for reverse parking.

On a side point. I've found no better source for knowledgeable advice, support and parts availability.

by:

We converted a tandem axle boat trailer to disk from drum. The kit worked out well with the exception of the surge hitch. The latch was flawed. When the customer pulled up the boat ramp the hitch popped off. This was after he had towed it 200 miles on the freeway, which could have been disastrous. Fortunately, no harm was done. I sent pictures to George who put me in contact with manufacturer. They were anxious to admit fault and sent a replacement. Etrailer was excellent to work with.

by:

Just finished swapping the drum brake actuator on my Karavan Trailer for a Titan disc brake actuator. Process has been more time consuming than I had hoped, but things are coming together. The Titan actuator appears well made and etrailer has provided excellent support when I needed a few extras. Only rated 4 stars because packaging was insufficient to prevent some nylon friction washers from being damaged in shipping. Overall very satisfied and I will go to etrailer first for my future trailer needs.

by:

The swing-away trailer hitch is an excellent fit and now allows me to store the ski boat in my garage. “bolt-on” to the trailer frame may require some alignment fine tuning when using the optional adapter plate.

by:

Swapped out the original drum brakes on my boat trailer with this disc kit. Everything was included and went together perfectly. One year later the brakes are working great!

by:

I really like this hitch it was easy to install works great. I gave it 4 star rating because it didn't come with the outer cap to prevent dirt around the master cylinder and the inner moving parts of the hitch. I had to order it separate from the hitch. Plus pay a separate shipping charge. The cap should be part of tbe hitch assembly

by:

That actuator works great. I installed it along with a new disk brake conversion kit on my bass boat trailer. Thank you for having a quality product.

Morning
Sorry for not getting
back to you all sooner but I was out of town for sometime.
Now for your product and company, let me say you are one of the few that I have done business with and I have to rate your complete service from start to finish as one if not the BEST I have done business with. In fact you are so good that I am going to recommend you to all the members of the Coastside Fishing Club.
Thank you for your timely and excellent service.

You are the best! --- George
PS : If I was to add anything to this questioner it would be there were no instructions or spec's that accompanied the produce. Although your video of the product was excellent and even a dummy like me can make the install. --- Thanks Again

After a little hiccup in my online order due to manufacturer availability, Mark with Etrailer did a great job in getting me a different, but still acceptable, replacement kit. He went over and above to ensure we got the kit delivered in time for us to take care of our customer. It went on and worked like it was supposed to. We appreciate the extra-great customer service Mark!
We will definitely use Etrailer in the future.
Thanks

  • What Replacement Actuator do I Need for My Ellis Boat Trailer?
I have a great solution for you. While we do not carry anything that will replace the master cylinder of your Atwood actuator, we can offer a full replacement of your actuator/coupler. For that route, I recommend the Titan Brake Actuator with Manual Lockout - Bolt On - Drum - 2" Ball # T63FR. The reason why this is a great choice apart from the fact that it fits the standard 3-inch wide channel tongue, it includes a breakaway kit and a manual lockout. The lockout is a great feature because...

For a replacement for your old Atwood 82541 actuator I recommend the Brake Actuator with Manual Lockout - Bolt On - Drum - 2" Ball - 7,500 lbs # T63FR. This meets all of your requirements aside from the width of the channel tongue. More than likely you measured the outside of your existing actuator which would be 3-1/2" wide. The inside of the coupler is going to be 3-1/8" so it will fit your 3" channel tongue. I recommend measuring the tongue to be sure. If it really is 3-1/2" then we...

  • Instructions for Welding Brake Actuator to Trailer Frame and Bleeding Brakes
We happen to have a video on the proper procedure for bleeding trailer brakes and I have attached it for. As for the Titan Brake Actuator, part # T63FR, this was designed for bolt-on installation. In the event that you would ever have to access the innards, a bolt-on application makes this much easier. The Titan model 60 you mentioned is not designed for that so it wouldn't be an ideal solution.
