Video Transcript for Review of Titan Brake Actuator Replacement Solenoid Valve - TK71-755-00

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the cylinoid valve replacement kit. This is going to replace the cylinoid valve for your Titan and UFP brake actuators. It's going to be a direct replacement for the part numbers that you see on the screen there. So if you have any of those parts, you can trust that this is going to be the exact piece that you need.Basically, what this backup valve does, is it installs to help prevent the trailer brakes from locking up when you're moving in reverse so that you can still use the trailer.

So it's going to come with the one cylinoid valve, two of these tie cables, to help get your wiring up and out of the way, and one drain tube. This is a nice quality cylinoid. I think it's going to do a good job for you. Allow you to keep your trailer going, even in reverse. And product is made here in the USA, so you can trust that it's made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products made here in the US.

I think this is going to be a great option for you. Especially if you have any of those part numbers, you can rest assured that this piece is going to get you back up and operational again. So that's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Worked great, Perfect replacement for a Shor'lander tandem trailer circa 2007.

Still working fine after a year.

Got tired of getting out to manually lock out the trailer brakes to back up. After a bit of troubleshooting, I discovered the solenoid wasn't functioning. This solenoid was a direct replacement and the install went very well. As long as the 5-pin is connected to the truck, backing up is no issue now. If your trailer brakes lock up in reverse, the solenoid may be just what you need. The coil on mine was OK, but the valve itself wouldn't operate. The replacement came with the solenoid, bypass tube, and zip ties to secure the bypass tube. The only thing lacking to make it a complete package is a heat shrink wire crimp to splice the wire to the original.

  • Solution for Needing Longer Hose than What Comes with Dexter Lockout Solenoid
Hey Cory, so we don't have a longer version of the hose that comes with the lockout solenoid part # TK71-755-00 that you referenced but it's basically a brake hose so what I would do is take the hose with you to a car parts store and have them match the size but in the length that you need.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Wiring on Coupler Solenoid For Backing Up
It is not wired correctly. The wires coming out your coupler are for the reverse lockout solenoid. The wire connected to ground is correct, but the wire connected to brakes at your junction box # HS381-9000 is not correct. That pin is for electric trailer brakes and not a hydraulic surge brake coupler. You will want to connect that coupler wire to the reverse light circuit instead. This is designed to give power to that solenoid when you shift into reverse allowing that solenoid like...

  • Troubleshooting Reverse Lockout Solenoid Replacement on 2006 Mastercraft Trailer
Thanks for the explanation. The Solenoid Valve Replacement Kit for Titan/UFP Brake Actuators with Reverse Lockouts # TK71-755-00 is what you can use for that style coupler. It simply has another connection for a drain to give you the bypass. Since your current one has this, you can simply remove the wiring and leave it in place with the Titan # T4748800 you have behind it. Simply connect the wires to that unit and you should be good to go. If you prefer to remove the old one you can...

We actually have the Brake Buddy 32220 reverse solenoid available with the Titan Solenoid Valve Replacement Kit # TK71-755-00. You will be able to use this with your existing mounting bracket without issue. I have included a short video review below that you can check out as well.

  • If Surge Brake Actuator is Removed Will Trailer Brakes Still Activate
If you were to remove the surge brake actuator from your trailer then there wouldn't be any pressure to your hydraulic brakes which means your brakes simply won't activate at all. I recommend installing a reverse lockout solenoid like the Titan # TK71-755-00 or the Demco # DM5404 because it ties in to the reverse light function on your tow vehicle and essentially prevents your actuator from applying pressure to your hydraulic brakes. Keep in mind that you'll need to install a 5-Way flat...

  • Correct Solenoid Valve for Demco DA10 Actuator
The Solenoid Valve Replacement Kit for Titan/UFP Brake Actuators with Reverse Lockouts # TK71-755-00 only has a single wire, not for ground, and the issue may be that you do not have the correct replacement solenoid valve. I say that because you mentioned having a DA10, which is a Demco actuator, and for which the correct replacement is the Replacement Bypass Solenoid Valve for Demco Brake Actuators # DM05561. This does have the two wires - one for your reverse wire and the other for...

  • What Is The White Wire On The Reverse Solenoid # TK71-755-00 Used For?
The white wire on the Reverse Solenoid # TK71-755-00 is the ground wire. Your solenoid likely grounded itself through the installation hardware. Most aftermarket solenoids now have 2 wires as many manufacturers switched to using plastic for the master cylinders to resist corrosion.
