The DeeMaxx Difference

Close-up image of DeeMaxx disc brake installation

When brakes retain heat, they are more likely to experience brake fade, or loss of braking power. DeeMaxx addresses this problem by incorporating drainage holes in the hat section of each vented rotor to provide even more ventilation than other brands. Combining these holes with the conventional venting allows DeeMaxx brakes to disperse heat faster. They're also able to shed moisture better, leading to less internal corrosion. The result is cooler-running, longer-lasting brakes that offer consistent performance.

DeeMaxx brakes are the only trailer brakes to satisfactorily pass the high standards of the SAE J2681 brake test. This test is designed to evaluate the friction performance of automotive brakes, so DeeMaxx's passing grade should tell you just how well made these products are.

The patented design of the caliper mounting bolt and sleeve makes installation easier while ensuring that the sleeves stay in place within the caliper. In addition, the side-support design of the caliper mounting bracket puts all of the weight on the bracket instead of on the bolts. This reduces premature wear and extends the life of the bolts, further ensuring optimal performance.

DeeMaxx brakes perform well even in the most demanding environments, which is one of the many reasons why they are preferred by law enforcement agencies like the Texas State Patrol, U.S. Border Patrol, and U.S. Coast Guard.

Great for Campers and Boat Trailers

If you own a trailer, you know that rust and corrosion will eventually creep up no matter where you tow, especially if your equipment doesn't have any kind of protective coating or plating. But if you tow your camper or trailer in the Midwest during the winter, or if you ever launch your boat in brackish water, you'll need even more protection because of the salt you'll likely encounter.

disc brake with signs of heavy rust and corrosion

The Maxx coating on the rotors, calipers, and brackets in this kit helps to ensure that DeeMaxx brakes don't end up looking like the one pictured above. It offers great corrosion protection, even with occasional use in freshwater and saltwater. Rust-resistant coatings are graded according to a salt spray rating. Basically, this rating shows the amount of time it takes for a material to show signs of corrosion when exposed to pure, continuous salt spray. Zinc plating typically begins to deteriorate after about 100 hours. Dacromet usually lasts for around 300 to 400 hours. DeeMaxx's Maxx coating lasts for more than 1,000 hours in the salt spray test.

The environment this test creates is much harsher than anything you'll ever experience in your journeys, but it provides a testament to how well DeeMaxx brakes resist rust and corrosion.

If you're living the salt life full-time or you live right on the coast, you'll probably want to invest in something that offers even more protection, like DeeMaxx kits that include stainless steel components for the ultimate in corrosion resistance.

Get a Safer, More Comfortable Ride

Say goodbye to the days of your truck being pushed and pulled by your trailer. Disc brakes provide a safer, more comfortable ride than drum brakes. They offer shorter stopping distances and deliver consistent braking - even at highway speeds. So, you won't have to worry about things crashing around in your trailer or camper next time you reach unexpected traffic on the highway or debate if you can actually stop before that yellow light turns red.

Save Time and Money

More and more people are switching their trailers over to disc brakes. Not only do disc brakes provide more controlled braking than drum brakes, but they also save you money by having fewer parts to maintain.

side-by-side comparison of an electric drum brake and a hydraulic disc brake

Unlike drum brakes, which have springs, magnets, and shoes that may need to be continually adjusted or replaced, disc brakes are virtually maintenance-free. There are no springs, cables, or other little components that you'll need to worry about failing.

close-up image of DeeMaxx disc brake caliper parts

The brake pads will naturally wear down, so eventually you'll have to replace them. But these pads are also way easier to replace than drum brake shoes. And the caliper - where the pads are housed - is located on the outside of the brake assembly. This means you just have to remove that one part to replace the brake pads rather than having to remove the entire assembly like you would with drum brakes. The same is true for the slip-on rotors in this kit.

instructions on how to bleed brakes laser etched into the back of a DeeMaxx disc brake caliper

DeeMaxx also has simple instructions for bleeding the brakes laser-etched on the back of the calipers. This convenient time saver means you'll always have the guidance you need on hand when the time comes for maintenance.

WOrks very good. Fit on a 15" rim were not good. The site said any 15, 16 or larger. The calibers drag on the inside of rims. I had to choose to go larger size rims but did not want to go larger because the hight I was at lauching boat now. Called tech support, they worked wirh manufacture and was told to grind dowm edge or caliber. It has extra metal from mold at factory. I did about 1/4 inch end to end and all is good with about 1/8 clearaance now.

Everything about this order went extremely well. Rotors and brakes are a major improvement of the standard equipment that came with Venture trailer. Simple to install and time will tell on longevity.

Fast, nice, happy

DeeMaxx parts seem to last longer in our saltwater than the Kodiak. I had both until the Kodiaks locked up. I bought this set to replace the Kodiaks that were a couple years newer than the Deemaxx.

  • What Rotors Fit With the DeeMaxx Trailer Idler Hub # DE36VR?
The DeeMaxx Trailer Idler Hub # DE36VR is designed to fit with DeeMaxx 10" Rotor with Maxx Coating # DE47VR or Stainless # DE67VR. Typically you will get either the Maxx Coating Brake Kit # DE42FR or Stainless Brake Kit # DE72FR which includes the rotors, calipers and mounting brackets for one axle. The Hub # DE36VR will require an Inner Bearing # L68149, Outer Bearing # L44649, Grease Seal # 58846 and grease cap.

  • What Info is Needed to Add Brakes to a Trailer or Replace Axle
We don't have the ability to know exactly what your trailer would require in terms of braking components or a replacement axle. You'd need to check out the axle to determine it's capacity for the braking components but due to age it may have components that aren't used any longer so to verify you'd need to pull the hubs off and get the diameter of the spindles where the bearings ride or the bearing numbers. We'd also need the wheel bolt pattern. For axle replacement you'd need to know...

  • Will DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit Fit 2013 EZ Loader Boat Trailer
As long as that is a 3,500 lb axle with a 4-bolt brake flange on your EZ Loader boat trailer you will be able to use the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE42FR. The slip-on rotors will fit over the 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern on your existing hubs without any issues.

  • Is The CE Smith Idler Hub Compatible With DeeMax Slip On Disc Brake Rotor For 3,500LB Axle?
Yes, the CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # CE13515 can be used with a slip on rotor like the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE42FR uses. We do also have the DeeMaxx Trailer Idler Hub # DE36VR if you would like to stick with the same manufacturer for these components. One nice feature about the DeeMax idler hub is they stamp the bearing and seal information into the hub so you will not have to pull the hub apart if you forgot what size parts you need. You will need the Inner Bearing # L68149,...

  • Parts Needed To Replace Torsion Axles On Tandem Axle Boat Trailer With Leaf Spring Axles
I recommend checking out the Timbren Silent Ride Suspension # TSR7000T04 for your 2016 EZ Loader trailer. This will allow you to bolt the suspension to the trailer rather than having to have frame hangers welded on. It also uses a rubber spring suspension system which is more progressive than steel and will help reduce bouncing much better. You will be able to attach 2 Straight Axles # 7359765-I or 4" Drop Axles # 7685269-I with idler hubs. I do recommend checking your local laws for trailer...

The DeeMaxx item # DE86VR won't because of the spacing on the mounting bracket but I have a caliper that will. To replace your Tie Down Engineering 46304 caliper you will need the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper item # KDBC225DAC.

  • Will DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit Fit 2021 Coyote Trailer
More than likely the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE42FR will fit your 2021 Coyote trailer. You will need to verify that your existing brakes use slip-on rotors and your current bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2. If that is accurate then these will work for you.

  • Do You Need an Actuator for the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit - 10" Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - 3.5K
The DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit part # DE42FR will require an actuator for operation. This can be either a traditional surge actuator or an electric over hydraulic actuator. If you're looking for an electric over hydraulic actuator, I recommend the Hydrastar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator with Line Kit part # CAR-HBA16-2. If you're looking for a traditional surge actuator, you can choose one from the list below. In regards to bleeding, you'll simply follow the instructions provided with the actuator.
