When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Not a fan because of the screw down and up for ball attachment. Unit Itself works great.

Very good and easy to install on my 1998 boat trailer. Not a fan of the screw down coupler but thats a minor issue....

by:

Bolted right on with no problem. Now to pull off the hubs and check the wheel cylinders

by:

I absolutely hate the twist lock on it. Received this twist lock style instead of what was pictured with a flip latch. Called to speak my piece about it and was told it was all they had. Now I'm stuck with it. I hate it!

by:

Direct Bolt on, better than welding. Surge Brake Line connected just fine. Bled Brakes. Test drive was successful. What more could you ask for. I chose the hand tightening knob over the Lever because it was more assuring to me that it was tight on the ball and the locking mechanism has never failed. I have used Titan surge actuators for 40 years. I am using this actuator on a 4,000 lbs. boat and trailer. On my way to the lake!

by:

This is an inferior product as it has no opening to pump brake fluid for bleeding brakes like better actuators. You must use a 2X4 or other items to pump actuator. Also, better actuators have auto lock with locking pin for securing to towing ball rather than a screw down. This actuator is outdated and I replaced it with a better product.

by:

Product was as ordered. Shipped promptly. Only been used two times and works fine

by:

Great product works great on my boat trailer

by:

So far it looks like it will work. We have yet to install it.

by:

Bolted right onto the trailer. No instructions and the link on the web sit didn't work but what do you need for two bolts. Wouldn't have minded some guidance with bleeding the brakes but got it done anyway.
Greatly improved the towing of my boat trailer!
Good price. Shipping good. What else would you want!?

Well, it worked great till I sold the boat last October. Shocked about the follow-up! Wow

by:

Excellent value, great heavy duty product, fast and easy installation, perfect fit.
Can't ask for more!

by:

Excellent product. This was almost an exact replacement for the original one that was on my boat trailer. I had the boat out about once a week this summer and the actuator worked perfectly. Braking was smooth and it locks down easily on the hitch ball. I highly recommend this actuator.

by:

Fast delivery & looks like the right brake actuator will install later this spring boat in storage. Very good service will recommend my friends to your company. Thanks for your help David Castle

Its working great replaced my 26 year old brake actuator

by:

Very easy to install, I took the old unit off and had the new one installed in less than an hour. I hooked the trailer to my truck and primed the Hydraulic cylinder before I attached the brake line. No problems.

by:

Perfect replacement for my existing brake. I'm using this brake coupled with the Titan actuator W/reverse lockout solenoid since there is no manual lockout and I don't have free backing brakes.

by:

This product perfectly replaced my tongue master cylinder on my 1992 Capri boat trailer. It bolted right up and the brake line thread was the same. It was super easy. It is a huge improvement!

by:

Seems to be what I needed to have replaced, was easy to install. Only problem, NO instructions. I did find video suggestions online.

by:

I cannot say enough about etrailer!! I ordered my part at a much cheaper price than I would have paid locally, it was mailed the same day and I got it three days later!! When ordering, I spoke to Shawn who was very professional and very precise in my wishes......she made me feel like a very valuable customer!! The part arrived in perfect shape and was easy to install. I would not hesitate to order from etrailer again!! Keep up the good work!!

by:

Arrived corroded and not functioning properly. I had to disassemble and clean the rust that was on the inside of the fluid reservoir and the piston. I would have sent back but I needed it at the time. The piston was frozen. It took some time for me to figure this out.

by:

DO NOT...I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK (I have stronger words but you get the idea) You get this piece of junk and ZERO info. I'm going to stop reviewing now before I go off the deep end!

Just as shown online product fit perfect great to see a company that has great service and low prices. I will buy again when I need something. Brake actuator looks exactly like my old one saved a lot of time and money.

  • Replacement Coupler Recommendation for 1995 Shorelander Boat Trailer
Your 1995 Shoreland'r boat trailer should have no problem fitting the Titan Brake Actuator # T43397007K. This is designed to fit the standard frame channel dimensions you have of 3 inches in width so it would be a great solution. This can be bolted or welded into place.

  • Recommended Surge Brake Actuator For 2000 Shorelandr Boat Trailer With Drum Brakes
As long as your 2000 Shoreland'r R1928/31 Boat Trailer has a 3" wide channel tongue I recommend the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator - Drum - Multi-Fit Ball - Bolt On - 7,000 lbs # T43397007K which will bolt on to the frame of your trailer, and will work perfectly with your drum brakes. The # T43397007K has a 7000lb trailer weight rating and works with 1-7/8", 2", and 50mm hitch balls. I included a video of the # T43397007K for you to take a look at.

  • Surge Brake Actuator Replacement for my 2012 Jayco 1007
I like the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T43397007K and think it will do a great job for you. I would however check the brake assemblies first. It sounds as if one is hanging or the brake line is not letting the brake fluid to back out and release the pressure. In most cases when a single side is binding it is at that side. If it was the actuator I would think that it would effect both sides evenly. To test this apply pressure to the front of the actuator with a board and the...

The Titan brake actuator # T43397007K will take 1/2 inch by 4 inch grade 5 bolts, nuts, and lock washers. Since this is a boat trailer if you can find some grade 5 zinc coated or stainless steel they will have better corrosion resistance. I have linked a video review and the installation instructions for this actuator for you.

  • Replacement Brake Actuator for a 1993 Four Winns 190 Horizon Trailer
If the trailer has drum brakes, the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T43397007K will be the one you'll want to use. It fits a 3" wide tongue so as long as that is what you have you'll be good to go. I am not sure what you mean by quick connect fitting but the actuator is designed to accept any 3/16" male fitting. If you need an adapter, you can simply take your old brake hose end into an auto parts store and be able to then match this up to the one you need.

  • Troubleshooting Smoking Axle on Trailer
It sounds like this is an issue that could be related to your tire, hubs and bearings, or brakes. I'm not entirely sure where the smoke you are describing is coming from, but the tire rubbing on the frame or fender could be one possible cause. I would inspect my tire for any signs of abnormal wear. Assuming it isn't the tire then it may be a lack of grease on your bearings or the castle nut being way too tight. Either way at this point you will need to pull everything and inspect it to...

  • Replacing Atwood Weld on Actuator on Trailmaster Boat Trailer
Since your coupler is welded on there won't be a way to replace it without removing the welds and then welding a new one in it's place. Since the Atwood couplers were so unique there isn't a similar one that would easily replace it either or have internal parts that could swap like a master cylinder. You should tighten the spindle nut until it is tight and then back it off one 1/4 turn. If this doesn't correct your problem, you could try backing off of the pad adjustment to see if this will help.
