  • 2 Inch Ball Coupler
  • 7500 lbs GTW
  • Bolt-On
  • No Lockout
  • Straight Tongue Coupler
  • Dexter

Use this corrosion-resistant actuator to synchronize your trailer brakes with your tow-vehicle brakes. Over-center latch mechanism only engages when the actuator is fully seated on 2" hitch ball. Designed for hydraulic drum brake applications.

Features:

  • Hydraulic actuator activates trailer's brakes when tow vehicle slows or stops
  • Low-profile coupler latch ensures easy, secure connection
    • Over-center latch mechanism only engages when the actuator is fully seated on hitch ball
  • Aluminum master cylinder is better at reducing corrosion than cast steel master cylinders
  • Zinc plating offers excellent corrosion resistance
  • Bolt-on installation
  • Manual lockout kit sold separately
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: hydraulic drum brakes
  • Ball size: 2"
  • Mounting: 3" x 4" straight tongue
  • Capacity: 7,500 lbs
  • 2-Year limited warranty

When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Because this model does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without triggering your trailer's brakes.

Delivery was very fast. Quality seems very good. Installation was super easy since my Shorelander swing tongue trailer has this standard hole pattern. I love how it looks and the extra foot of distance I get between the boat and my tow vehicle (so less chance of needing to get my feet wet or crawl through the SUV).

by:

Finished drum to disc brake conversion on my 1993 year model Bass Cat trailer. Installation went smoothly and the UFP-A60 Actuator replaced the obsolete Atwood Actuator. Shortened the outer member a bit and added a 1" flat bar to the bottom for welding of 4" channel trailer frame.

We are a trailer repair company. We purchase the actuators for our customers. But we have had a lot of experience dealing with Dexter/UFP products. We try to only buy the best products available for our customers. That is why we buy Dexter/UFP products on a regular basis.

Updating my old surge brake coupler, I really like this Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7.5K fits 3”x4”trailer tongue, it was easy to install, I did have to drill new holes, I just wish the manufacturer would have included the bolts and the information on how much to torque the bolts to, it’s about “2 drop from my old coupler. etrailer was super fast with shipping !

  • Replacement Surge Actuator for Reliable ACT 7.5K Actuator
Best solution we have would be the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc # DX29FR which will fit over the 3 inch by 5 inch frame channel you have. This is a very similar design to what you have now and has the same weight capacity so it would work well. This is the disc brake version so if you have drum brakes instead you'd want the part # DX27FR.

  • Replacemnet Surge Brake Actuator For a Tie Down Engineering LP7000
We have the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX29FR for disc brakes and the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX27FR for drum brakes. These will have similar bolt patterns as the Tie Down Engineering LP7000 actuators we have have seen in the past. They are designed to fit a 3" wide by 4" tall trailer tongue. If you have a different size trailer tongue please let me know so I can recommend a better option since I have seen this particular actuator mounted differently.

  • Lock For Dexter A-60 Brake Actuator
There is a lock that is going to work very well for your A-60 coupler, which is surround lock from Fastway: - Fastway Universal Trailer Coupler Lock for 1-7/8", 2" and 2-5/16" Couplers # FA86-0015-320 This will lock out the coupler so the trailer and boat cannot be easily stolen, and its tube key lock cylinder is much more secure than a standard lock cylinder.

  • What Size and Grade Mounting Hardware for the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout
The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout part # DX29FR for disc brakes and part # DX27FR for drum brakes use 1/2" diameter mounting hardware. We have used both grade 5 and grade 8 bolts when doing installations of them but the grade 5 are sufficient. There is very little force actually applied to the bolts other than side pull.

  • Recommendation For Flushing Dirty Brake Fluid From Surge Brakes On Trailer
Yes, you will want to flush out all your old dirty brake fluid from your lines and master cylinder. You can use the Hand Vacuum Pump Brake Bleeder # PTW87030 to do this but in my experience I find it best to use the manual method using the 2x4 to be the best way to quickly push out the old fluid. A Bleeder # ALL648591 makes it possible to do the flush without a 2nd person.

  • How to Find Correct Replacement Hydraulic Surge Brake Actuator for Trailer
In order to find out what you need for a replacement actuator you will want to start by finding out what kind of brakes you have. A different brake actuator is needed if you have drum brakes or disc brakes. You will also want to choose a replacement that meets or exceeds the weight of your trailer and probably one that fits the same size ball your current coupler has. Occasionally you may be able to pull a part number off of your current actuator to see if a direct replacement is available. Assuming...

I'm sorry we do not; the best we can offer is a replacement actuator with a 2" ball like the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX27FR for drum brakes or the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator with Electric Lockout # DX29FR for disc brakes.

  • Could Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Coupler Fit on 3x3 Trailer Tongue
The Dexter DX7.5L brake actuator part # DX27FR will fit on a 3 inch by 3 inch trailer tongue like what you have. Now it would be hard to say if it would bolt right up to existing holes that you have but either way you could drill new holes in the trailer tongue to match up with this.

  • Can Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Actuator DX56FR Replace Older Titan Aero 6000?
As long as your trailer has a 3" x 5" trailer tongue then the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX56FR will replace your Titan Aero 6000 Coupler. Keep in mind this actuator is designed for disc brakes, so if you have drum brakes this will not work for you. If your trailer has drum brakes you will need the # DX33FR instead. I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.

  • Can the Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator for Disc Brakes Work With Drum Brakes
The Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator # 099-175-20 is designed for disc brakes. I am assuming you have drum brakes since you got the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator - Bolt On - Drum - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7,500 lbs # DX27FR. • Recommended Model 60 Surge Brake Actuator For Trailer 1997 Dorsey Boat Trailer With Drum Brakes
I would be happy to help! The option I recommend is the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator - Drum - Multi-Fit Ball - Bolt On - 7,000 lbs # DX27FR which is a model 60 actuator like you were wanting and will bolt on to your 3" wide tongue. This actuator has a 7000lb weight rating, and works with a 1-7/8", 2", and 50mm hitch ball so you will have plenty of options. With this actuator you can use the electric reverse lockout solenoid # T4748800 which is the style I prefer as it is an install...

  • Is Dexter DX7.5 Trailer Brake Actuating Coupler DX27FR a Replacement for UFP A-70
The Dexter # DX27FR would make a good replacement for trailers weighing less than 7500 lbs. The coupler is compatible with a 2 inch trailer ball, so if your trailer meets those criteria, the # DX27FR would be an excellent choice. UFP is now owned by Dexter, so other than the design of the coupler latch, it's the same actuator. You can see a product description video by clicking the provided link.

You also want to choose one that matches the hitch ball you are using, the type of brakes (disc or drum), and fits your trailer tongue. Another thing to consider is whether or not you want a manual or electric lockout, or no lockout at all. • Does the Dexter DX27FR Use the Same Inner Member as the DX83FR
Yes, you can use the inner member from the # DX27FR and the # DX83FR interchangeably. Although they are designed to fit different trailer tongue sizes, they both use the same inner member # DX97FR. You could either purchase the inner member separately or if you want an extra/new housing the # DX27FR fits a 3" x 4" straight tongue and the # DX83FR fits a 3" x 5" straight tongue.

  • Do you Recommend a Weld on or Bolt On Surge Brake Actuator
I prefer the bolt on actuators. The reason is that just like the position you're in to replace it you have to cut it off. With a bolt on you just take it off and put a new one on. The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator part # DX27FR is rated for up to 7,500 lbs. so it will be more than strong enough to handle your boat when installed per the instructions.
