Video Transcript for Review of Titan Replacement Shock Absorber For Titan Or Dico Model 60 Brake Actuator - T2336200

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a brief look at this replacement shock absorber for the Titan Model 60 brake actuators. This is going to replace the shock absorber for the Titan Model 60 brake actuators. And this is also going to fit the Dico Model 60 brake actuators as well. Now, just to give you some overall dimensions, gonna pull out my ruler here.

Looking at the collapsed length, I'm not gonna be able to show you the extended length. But looking at the collapse length, lining up my ruler center to center here, we are sitting right at almost five inches as you can see there, center to center. So, that's gonna be the collapsed length. And on the extended length, this is gonna be sitting right at about 6 1/4 inches. So, if you are needing a replacement shock absorber for your Titan or Dico Model 60 brake actuator, this is going to be an exact replacement from Titan, so you can trust that it's going to work with your Model 60 brake actuators.

Well, that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

Fit well on my 20 yr old trailex alum car trailer. This part along with a new master cylinder solved the shuttering when applying brakes. The hydraulic channels in the master cyl are tiny and corrosion can block the channels.

by:

Fits and works perfectly. Rebuilt entire coupler and trailer springs

by:

Just finished putting brakes, rims and new tires on my boat trailer. Etrailer had everything I needed to get the Job done. I received my tires and wheels only to discover I was sent 3-14" tires and 1-15". I quickly called and talked with Courtney and she was very apologetic and made sure the right tire and rim were sent out the same day. I received it 5 days later and was able to complete the job. I will definitely use etrailer again in the future, it was a pleasure dealing with them. Here is a picture of my project.

Found this shock online here at etrailer which I had trouble finding anywhere else with any confidence. The listing on etrailer.com helped me identify the exact shock I needed for my 25 year old Surge unit. Fit right, works great! Thanks etrailer! Gary

by:

I had to enlarge one bore from 7/16 diameter to 1/2 to fit my surge brake model, Titan Aero 7500, but I knew that when I bought it and it wasn't difficult to drill out. Other than that, I think this will work for my surge brake setup.

by:

Exactly what I needed

by:

Working well. No more banging master cylinder when I stop.

by:

Ordered this shock absorber for the surge breaks on my car dolley. When I was towing my car on the dolley, the surge breaks would 'chuck' (swiftly engaging and disengaging causing the dolley and car to quickly stop / start as the breaks went on and off) The shock fit exactly and seems to have fixed the problem. That takes a lot of the worry about towing a car off my shoulders, and that is a good thing!!

I ordered the part on a Tuesday and it arrived here in Florida, after crossing half the country, on Friday morning. Great job!

It has been a year since I wrote this review. A year and 5000 miles. The shock absorber continues to do its job as designed. Anyone with this chucking problem should take a look at this cure. Easy to do and worth the effort

by:

It did the job.

by:

Item appeared to have been installed / used though listed as new. The part’s appearance does not matter but getting long service life does

by:

Parts match perfectly. Parts came 2 days early.

by:

thanks it finally made it safe

by:

part is correct and is now installed on trailer hitch

still working fine good quality

by:

Etrailer transaction was easy and delivery of the shock and master cylinder was fast. Both products installed without any mods and my boat trailer is a dream to tow now.

by:

There was a loud clunk and you could feel it when using the surge brakes on our ski boat trailer. The master cylinder was badly pitted. Now the braking is smooth and responsive.

by:

easy install on hydraulic brake actuator for 6000 lb boat/trailer. trailer was slamming when stopping/starting

by:

I was pleased with the brake lines and trailer shock absorber. I received what was shown. They came in a timely manner, was what I needed and was reasonably priced. Thank you. I am installing them today. Will be back to order more parts in the future.

by:

This was exactly what I needed to fix the tongue on my trailer. It was sliding in and out about three inches, causing a bang when a started and stopped. The trailer is for a 2000 Bayliner boat. This shock absorber matched the old one perfectly. And, it only took about ten minutes to replace.
Perfect part and delivered very quickly.

by:

Product came well packaged, and was identical to the shock being replaced easy install, no more clanking when starting and stopping ( also replaced master cylinder)

by:

Easy install

by:

Replaced the shock in my Titan 60 actuator assembly along with the actuator itself. Less expensive and easier than replacing the whole Titan 60. This part took all or 5 min.

by:

This part fit perfectly on my 2009 boat trailer replacing the broken part and solving a problem.

by:

Brakes were rebuilt with etrailer parts and are working great. Thanks // etrailer.

by:

Replacement shock absorber fit perfectly. Fast shipment and item well packed.

by:

Identical match, easily installed.

  • Troubleshooting EZ Loadr Boat Trailer Brake Issues
It sounds like the fact your brakes are locking and releasing is what will cause the bounce and porpoising you are describing. It sounds to me like your surge brake actuator is sticking and then releasing and then doing so again and again as you slow down. This could be from a shock like the Replacement Shock Absorber for Titan Model 60 Brake Actuators # T2336200 not working correctly, a wheel cylinder/brake caliper issue if that is only happening on one side, or a master cylinder issue...

  • Replacement Shock Absorber for M101A1 Military Trailer
The Replacement Shock Absorber part # T2336200 is for Titan Model 60 Brake Actuators like the Titan Zinc-Plated, Leverlock Brake Actuator w/ Lockout Shield. If you have a Titan Model 60 Brake Actuator then the Replacement Shock Absorber will work for you but unfortunately, I don't have any information on what brake actuator is on your military trailer. If you would like to send me a few photos I can then forward them onto Titan to see if they recognize the brake actuator but if not then...

It looks like you are looking for a replacement shock for your actuator. We have several models including # 1844-2. This particular model fits Toledo brand actuators. When fully closed it measures 6-1/4 inches from center of hole to center of hole and when expanded, it measures approximately 8-1/4 inches from center of hole to center of hole. • Two of Four Trailer Drums are Getting Too Hot to Touch
It sounds like a short at the brakes or brake wiring on the trailer. You could find and repair the damaged or pinched wire or run new wiring. If the current wiring runs inside of the axle(s) then I would just go ahead and run new wiring. Brakes on a 12K axle are pretty big so you could use 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 or # 10-2-1, each sold by the foot. Otherwise 12 gauge wire # 12-1-1 could be used. • Troubleshooting Trailer Hubs That Show Different Operating Temperatures
The fact that your two brake drums are operating at such different temperatures tells us that at least one of them is having a problem. The 200-degree heat you measured on one of the drums on the trailer axle could be related to the brake assembly being either damaged or misadjusted; or it could indicate a problem with the bearings in that hub. High heat can indicate either inadequate lubrication in the hubs or damaged bearings, which tend to run hotter as they age and wear out. If the...

  • Is Tongue on Titan Replacement Shock Absorber # T2336200 Supposed to Return After Bleeding Brakes
A shock absorber's tongue like on the Titan Replacement Shock Absorber for Titan Model 60 Brake Actuators # T2336200 referenced in your question will not normally return on its own after bleeding the brakes. Typically you will have to manually pull it back out. It's possible that it will sometimes slide back out slowly, like you had happen previously, but that is not an indication of it being pressurized or not.

  • Why Are My Calipers Dragging On My Load Rite Trailer?
If your brake calipers are dragging, this is indicating that your caliper is not properly aligned with the rotor. This is caused by a bent caliper mounting bracket, or some warped rotors and pads. To fix this, you'll need to inspect the alignment between the rotor and the pad, and if it turns out to be a bent bracket simply replace as necessary. If you're able to send me the specific brake kit you have or some pictures of your brakes, I would be happy to see if we have some replacement...

  • Right Side Hydraulic Trailer Brake Locks Up After Braking
You may be getting air in the lines or have a wheel cylinder that needs to be replaced. It is also possible that you have the wrong side brake assembly on that right side but since it is only an issue after braking this is probably not the case. There could be something in the brake assembly itself that is getting stuck. I recommend pulling the wheel and drum off to inspect the operation of the brakes, check for any foreign objects that might be causing the malfunction. If the wheel cylinder...

  • Troubleshooting Titan Model 60 Brake Actuating Coupler Not Releasing Disc Brakes
Since your brakes aren't releasing, it sounds like you either have a bad master cylinder in your surge coupler or a bad shock. The caliper piston moved when you released the pressure with the bleed valve, so it appears the plunger on the master cylinder is not responding when you release the brakes. This could be the master cylinder # T4820000 or it could be the shock # T2336200 has gone bad not allowing the pressure to be released.

  • Trailer Brake Actuator Can be Easily Moved by Hand
You are correct, there should be resistance and you probably would not be able to move it by hand without some sort of lever if it was working properly. It does sound like it is time for a new one or repair the old one. If your actuator is a bolt on then it would easier to just get a new one rather than replace parts on the old one. • Bolt Torque Specs For Installing Titan # T2336200 Replacement Shock Absorber into a Brake Actuator
According to my contact at Titan, there is no torque spec for those bolts. The 'rule of thumb' I was given is that the bolts should be tightened enough so that when the actuator is fully extended, you should be able to get a .002 feeler gauge in between the slide and the outer assembly. In other words, tighten the bolt so it's snug but NOT so tight that it compresses the housing, or you'll turn the actuator into a coupler.

  • Replacing the Shock Absorber on a Titan Model 60 Actuator
The current shock absorber on your Titan Model 60 actuator won't be under any kind of pressure so it is simply a matter of taking the actuator apart to get at the absorber. The Replacement Shock Absorber for Titan Model 60 Brake Actuators # T2336200 may need to be slightly compressed when you fit it into the actuator but this is something that can be done by hand. It should be fully expanded when you receive it so you won't have to worry about expanding it for the installation.

If your disc brakes like the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35S are not releasing it is likely an issue with the hydraulic actuator. Oftentimes this is the shock of the actuator having gone bad so it won't release all the way, so that would be the first thing to check; you could possibly replace it if that is the case. For example, if you had a Titan Model 60 Actuator you could use the Replacement Shock Absorber for Titan Model 60 Brake Actuators # T2336200.
