Video Transcript for Optronics Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket Installation

Today we're going to show you Optronics Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, part number LP15SB. First off, with our bracket this is an all-metal construction. In its typical application, this license bracket is designed to sit behind the bracket that holds your taillight in place. In this case, we're on the driver's side or left-hand side. Typically they will line up with the studs on the lights. You can mount this either way you'd like, but typically you want this underneath so it sticks underneath the light on the bottom for the license plate. Let's go ahead and install it. Pretty simply.

Let's go ahead and remove these two nuts. Most of the time it's going to be a 7/16. In certain situations, it won't fit like this, so you can flip it around and install it that way as well. Of course, we realize that not as much light will go onto your license plate, but it will still work just fine. Then you can go ahead and install your license plate; 1/4" hardware will work just fine for that.

This hardware does not come with it as well. Since it is recessed inaudible 00:01:14 back, let's go ahead and turn off the lights and try it out and see how the trailer light illuminates the license plate. Even though it's recessed, it's still doing its job. That will finish it for a Optronics Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, part number LP15SB. .

Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, Heavy Duty Zinc Steel - LP15SB

Average Customer Rating:  4.9 out of 5 stars   (405 Customer Reviews)

Sturdy material, but not completely universal. On my Carson trailer, I had to flip the bracket backwards since the indentation on the bracket come down far enough to allow for the trailer light box. Also, the hole line up tonattach to the light box was just off enough I had to force the bracket on. However, once I installed it, it was solid and so don’t fear it will come off on its own.

by:

Are you kidding? This metal license plate mount is rock solid and under $2. The holes are set up perfectly to fit the mounting bolts on my driver side trailer light and the position of the license plate when mounted allows it to be lit by the clear lens on the bottom of the trailer light when the running lights are on. Also, the bracket allows the mounted license plate (and frame) to just clear the rail of the flat bed trailer itself. Yeah, it's a perfect fit. Thanks, trailer!!

by:

I think you will find these photos show a unique installation of your metal trailer license plate holder.
My Yamaha golf cart is street legal which requires a license plate. You will see in close up photo that the holder is used up side down for a custom fit.
Couldn't be happier. The plastic holder was not stiff enough so your holder is perfect.

I purchased two tag license frames, one for my boat trailer and the other for my trash/hauling trailer. Both trailers had plastic license holder frames and one broke on rough surface.

It has been fine. I put on my boat trailer since the original was plastic. There are many items available.

by:

I’ve been very happy with everything I’ve purchased from trailer!

by:

I received my license plate brackets yesterday. I installed one of them on my boat trailer this morning. Installation was easy and it looks great. The license plate brackets are heavy duty and seem to be well manufactured. In the past, I have purchased lighter metal brackets and polymer brackets. Both of these types of brackets finally breakover a period of time and usage. Thanks for having a superior license plate bracket!

by:

Great product at a great price. Took five minutes to install.

Mike, where did you get your old black plastic bracket that broke? I had the exact same one and I liked it and it worked for me. I cant find a suitable replacement and would like another one just like this. Thanks!

You might check out the Optronics # LP10SB. This might suit your needs.

by:

Easy ordering system. Fantastic tracking and fast delivery. Product is as described and in excellent condition.

by:

Great well made product just as advertised. No more lost license plates due to cheap plastic brackets. This metal bracket looks like it's going to last a a life time!

by:

Much better than the plastic one that came with the lights on the trailer.

holding up just fine keeps license plate flatter, thanks.

by:

This part was perfect for my liscense plate for my trailer . Thanks

3/13/2018

Not to good plate came undone and flew off my trailer . Had to buy another liscense plate .

by:

My trailer came with a plastic plate holder. It was very flimsy. This stiffened it up enough that the plate doesn't flap in the wind anymore

by:

Old bracket was plastic and easily broke off. I Ordered a metal one from etrailer at a great price. I painted mine with some extra plasti dip I had laying around and riveted it where the old one was and it's better than new!

by:

Awesome fit!

Frank

10/20/2023

Awesome no complaints here Guys

by:

I like the license plate mount, because it's heave metal and won't bend at the boat ramp like the others.

by:

Made out of metal better than plastic

by:

better than the cheap plastic bracket that came with trailer.

by:

I received the license plate bracket 2,days early ,which I like. now all I have to do is repaint the wheel fenders and I can mount the bracket then I will be ready to go. I went with the metel unit because I have found that most BOX STORE plastic holders do not hold up and break. more to follow when I get done.

David S.

3/29/2018

The bracket I have found is the best think since apple pie. Using the trailer both local and highway the bracket does not move and holds the plate very secure .all my plate brackets are going to be metel from now on.

by:

The materials are sturdy however, I'm a bit worried how well the horizontal bar holding the license plate onto the mounting bracket is attached. I wouldn't trust that it will hold up to much use but can be corrected by adding a couple of bolts and nuts just in case the attachment point doesn't hold up.

by:

This replaces the flimsy plastic licence plate bracket that comes with most trailer loght kits. It firmly and securely holds the plate.

James

Still great looking, no corrosion or breakage

by:

This is a solid product and does exactly what it claims it will do. Much better than the one that came on my boat trailer. This will be the last one I buy as it will last forever. Yes I used loctite when I put it on. Shipping was quick and life is good. Thank you etrailer.

It is a solid mount. No problems. Great product

by:

Outstanding.

by:

All metal license plate bracket was excellent. I was having a hard time keeping up with license plates . The plastic ones break so easy , and I would loose my plates. This one looks very good and I think it will solve my problem. Thanks.

  • Legality of Operating a Car With the Rear License Plate Blocked by a Bike Rack
Typically a bike rack will not completely obscure a vehicle's rear plates, and in our customers' collective experience this has not been an issue for law enforcement. On the other hand, a fully-loaded cargo carrier WILL likely block a rear plate entirely and this might be an issue. I suggest you contact the State Police or Highway Patrol in the states in which you will be travelling and simply ask them about this concern. In states that do not require a front plate, there may be greater...

I went in our warehouse and measured the stand-off of the Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket # LP10SB that you referenced and found it to be right at 1/2 inch. • Recommendation for a License Plate Bracket for a Small Cargo Trailer
I believe I have just the right license plate bracket for you. Take a look at the Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, # LP15SB. It is just a little over 8 inches long at 8-7/16 inches. It is 4 inches tall. The center to center distance between the center slotted holes is 2-1/4 inches but can be 2-3/4 inches apart at the outside edges. The top most set of holes are 2 inches apart on center. I have included a picture showing the dimensions for you.

  • Angled License Plate Bracket Recommendation for a License Plate Collection Display
I think a better option for you would be the Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket # LP15SB. You could also paint the bracket with spray paint if you wanted.

  • License Plate Bracket for a 1992 Jayco Pop-up Trailer
We may not have the exact same license plate bracket as the one you lost on your Jayco trailer. But we do have quite a few that you could likely use. Bracket # LP15SB is an excellent choice since it is metal and would be more durable and would not cause ground problems (if the tail light grounds through the mounting studs). It mounts on holes that are 2 inches apart on center. If you happen to need a hole spacing that is 1-3/4 inches apart then you could use # LP20SB. I have included...

  • License Plate Bracket Options For Tow Dolly
I recommend using a license plate holder like part # LP15SB. You would need to find a suitable place to mount the bracket and probably drill through the fender or the frame to install this bracket. This bracket does not come with mounting hardware. We do have license plate brackets that are designed to be used with tail lights. I have attached a link to our product page for the brackets we offer. You may find one that will work with the tail lights on your dolly.

  • Can the Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, Heavy Duty Zinc Steel Be Flipped
Yes, you can flip the orientation of the Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, Heavy Duty Zinc Steel part # LP15SB so that the license plate sits above the tail lights and not below. That said, you'd be securing the plate using the lower set of holes with this method. I don't believe this would violate any laws or regulations but I also can't inform of this for every state so you will need to check with local officials if you have concerns of legality.
