Optronics STL16/17 Series LED Combination Marine Tail Light Measurements

Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of these lights make them ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. Each circuit board is sealed, which means that water will not damage the diodes or circuit board.

Combination Lights for Trailers Over 80" Wide

Flatbed trailer over 80" wide with combination tail lights

If a trailer is 80" or wider at its widest point, then it requires rear clearance lights in addition to basic trailer lights. These clearance lights indicate the width of the trailer when it is viewed from the back.

To meet these requirements on a flatbed utility trailer where the bed extends past the wheels, you can install combination trailer lights that include the rear clearance function. For proper mounting, the lights must be installed at the widest points on the rear of the trailer - one on each corner.

P2-Rated or P3-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for P2 rated light

A P2-rated or P3-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

The lights work on the boat trailer just fine
I ordered the Wrong size lights but got to work anyway
I kept blowing the light bulbs on the old lights and
The new led lights have not had any problems .

I have used the trailer lights for a year now and I don’t worry about the lights anymore. They work great.

by:

Bright lights. Used on EZ loader jetski trailer. Had to drill new mounting holes to fit existing bracket. Comes with steel plated fasteners which I substituted with stainless steel. Have not submersed the lights yet. Say they are submersible. Always a challenge with boat trailers keeping lights working properly. Hoping these LEDs last a long time.

by:

So far so good. I've had miserable experiences with trailer lighting in general so if these make it more than two years without failing I'll call that a win. The Optronics products overall seem to be good quality and at a good price. I've replaced all the side markers with the Optronics and those have been working well too. That said, I keep spares on hand. I also apply dielectric grease to all wire connections and try to reapply that grease once or twice a year.

by:

I was an Idiot last week and broke my drivers side light , so I bought a new pair ,very simple to install and they look good right next to my roller guides

by:

As I have always said etrailer is the only go to for all my trailer parts…….everything I have ordered came on time and was exactly what I ordered

by:

Very nice product, but one of the lenses have small scratches on it, I will try some Plexus to see if I can make look new again. But overall a nice product.

by:

Works great, easy install. Only drawback is the ground wires are slightly short.

by:

Simple to install and 100% better than what came with the trailer. If I knew then what I know now...I would have replaced the lights years ago before I had to deal with a replacement at an inopportune time.

Continues to work like new. Dependable lights that I can count on.

by:

The Optronics LED Combination Trailer Taillights are still working like new after 1 year. They are very bright for extra safety when stopping and pulling a Trailer on the expressway. I highly recommend them.

by:

Decided to change all the lights on my boat trailer to LED. These were easy to install, and work well.

by:

Good lights. All ready installed on my utility trailer

by:

Exact replacement at no charge for our drivers side trailer tail light! Have yet to put it on so we shall see.

by:

Excellent product. Well constructed and bright lights. Wiring and attaching to trailer myself saved a lot of money over dealer estimate with same results. I have had zero problems with performance during the first year.

No problems encountered during 1st year of use. Excellent product

by:

I originally ordered the wrong item. I immediately ordered the correct item, and incorrect order was taken care of in minutes. It was my error. Sure appreciated the customer service required to cancel the wrong order, instead of having to return it. Totally pleased!!

by:

Right part, shipped really fast. I would highly recommend.

by:

Package delivered promptly. Appeared packaged well. Lights installed easily and operate without issue whatsoever. I decided to purchase this particular brand from this particular retailer because of the lifetime warranty on the LEDs and etrailer's positive reputation.

I am, however, a little disappointed that the lens of one of the lights looked a little scuffed up... as if it had been rubbing against the inside of the plastic packaging. I know things like this don't remain pristine forever, but when you purchase something new you want it to look that way!

by:

Trailer light are fantastic. Installation was easy and lights have been trouble free. Very glad I bought!

by:

Not installed, but feel heavy duty. Im glad I got them at the price I did, I haven't found any lower and had been looking for weeks.

by:

I replaced my BRAND NEW trailer lights that leaked with these bad boys, Best purchase EVER! Still working and as bright as when I bought them a little over a year ago. Much brighter then OEM. Customer service is top notch!

by:

I do not understand why it took 8 days for part to arrive.

by:

Haven't installed yet, they should be fine. I don't think I have ever got a bad product from trailer!

by:

This was purchased as a "value" replacement for a 2019 Tracker 190TX Tournament Edition boat trailer...the exact replacement was over $65 per light (STL0066RBG/STL0067RPG). Comments from etrailer and the page for the exact replacement state this is an alternative. TLL160RK is NOT a direct replacement for this application. The original lights have the first mounting bolt 1 5/8" from the inboard edge. The first mounting bolt on this item is 2 5/8" from the inboard edge. Mounting bolts are 2" on-center for both sets of lights. Lights work with some drilling, thus 2 stars docked for inaccurate info. So, be sure to remove your lights first and measure before you order...I didn't. The info for the exact replacements does not include bolt pattern dimensions, so no way to confirm fit without measuring the old lights.

by:

These were replacements lights for my Ranger RB190 Trailer. They are the same lights that were on the trailer already, so they installed easily. Glad I remembered to search etrailer for replacements.

by:

Good tail lights. Everything they were supposed to be.

by:

Easy install, superior product!

  • Does Install of LED Trailer Taillights Require Load Resistors
When converting trailer taillights from incandescent to LED you do not need load resistors like you do when making same conversion on a vehicle. So the trailer light # TLL160RK does not come with them nor are they needed.

  • Replacement Trailer Tail Lights For a Wesbar Tail Light 403078
As the Wesbar Lights 403078 are the lights which use the lens 105826 I recommend replacing them with the Optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Lights # TLL160RK. These lights have a similar mounting pattern which places the bolts on 2" centers and are rated for trailers over 80" wide.

We do have a large selection of trailer lights available that might work well as replacements on your boat trailer. I am not sure as to the exact model assembly that is installed on your Shorelandr Boat Trailer, but researching some pictures online, it looks like it uses rectangular lights similar to the Optronics # TLL160RK. • Recommended Replacement 8" x 3" LED Tail Light for Boat Trailer
I recommend using the Optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Lights part # TLL160RK to replace both tail lights on your trailer. These are standard rectangular 8" long x 3" wide tail lights common for boat trailers. They are also LED. The wire colors might not match up but so long as you attach them by function there won't be any issues. I have attached our selection for you below as well but the above should work. If you want the tail lights to match, odds are you will need two news ones.

  • Replacement Recommendation for Wesbar Trailer Tail Lights
A lot of the Wesbar tail lights were discontinued so I recommend going with a brand that is still currently producing lights to make future repairs and replacements easier. For your application I recommend checking out the Optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Lights # TLL160RK which splice in for the running and brake/turn functions and then have a ground that attaches to the frame of the trailer. • What is a Good Replacement for the Wesbar 105826?
With the 105826 being discontinued from Wesbar, the closest thing available is the Optonics set up # TLL160RK. This is very similar to what you currently have, and is LED like you're wanting, but it would need to be hardwired as it does not have the plug on the end of the wires.

  • Troubleshooting Optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Lights TLL160RK without Turn Signal
Since wiring color can vary by trailer manufacturer it is a good idea to test the wires for function on the trailer or make sure they trace back to the correct circuit before matching up wiring on the light part # TLL160RK. It is not always reliable to go by wire color. You may also want to check the main ground on the trailer is properly grounded to a clean bare metal surface of the frame. Also check the wiring for any frayed or damaged wire that may need to be replaced. Since the light...

  • What Is Needed To Upgrade Trailer Tail Lights to LED
Generally speaking, you can simply replace the incandescent tail light assemblies with LED tail light assemblies without any additional wiring. Almost all aftermarket tail light wiring and most factory harnesses accept both incandescent and LED so you don't have to worry about adding resistors. For a set of LED trailer tail lights, I recommend the Optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Lights part # TLL160RK but I have attached our entire selection below if you have a different style.

The tail lights will be the same for a wishbone trailer wiring harness and a standard wiring harness, the only difference is that instead of splicing the two running light wires in together before running the main lead up to the trailer connector, you simply run one for each side up to the trailer connector. • Can LED and Incandescent Lights be Used at the Same Time on a Boat Trailer
The issue with using LED lights like part # TLL160RK with incandescent lights is that LEDs draw much less power than incandescent lights. This can lead to inconsistent operation of the lights so it is always recommended to either have all incandescent or all LED. If your LEDs are on a different circuit then you could use these with your current clearance lights, but if they are on the same circuit then you really need to have all of your lighting stay consistent.
