Adam: Hi everyone, Adam with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Peterson license plate bracket. So whether you're just replacing an old, nasty, mangled-looking license plate bracket, or if you purchase some trailer lights and it didn't come with it and you need one, this is definitely going to hold your license plate, make sure it's nice and illuminated, so everybody can see it when you're going down the road. So let's get to it.So what we need to do is just undo our trailer lights. Just take these nuts off real quick, set them down. And as you can see, there's an angle on this bracket, and that's going to....
We want to make sure that that's going to actually seat underneath our license plate light, just so the light's going to illuminate the license plate and it doesn't sit too far back.So just so you guys know, we are going to have about an inch and three quarters from the center of this hole here, all the way to where it starts to come out. There's some trailers that have a little bit longer of a metal plate here, so some of them will kind of sit like this. But just be sure to measure from your holes to the bottom, and if it's within that inch and three quarter inches, you should be fine. Once you put that on there, you just replace those nuts and tighten them down. And we don't get any hardware with our kit, we're just using the existing hardware that we use for our trailer lights, so whatever size those are is the socket that you guys are going to need. And this bracket is going to be a standard size, so it should fit all of your license plates pretty easily. Again, no bolts that come with this kit, so you're going to have to just find some around the house or just hit the hardware store real quick. All you need is a bolt and a nut, and tighten them down.So once everything's nice and tight, make sure it's just being illuminated from your license plate light, and that's pretty much all you really need to check.
When it comes to these license plate brackets, they're not really too special. This one doesn't really do anything but just get the job done, and that's what we're looking for here.

Universal license plate bracket lets you attach your trailer's license plate between your trailer and tail light. Mounts using the light's 2 mounting studs. Black plastic construction flexes on impact and resists corrosion. It seemed flimsy as I was installing, but have had no issues in the past year.
It's okay. Just don't last long before it brakes and falls off. Wish it had hinge so it wouldn't brake

I am sorry to hear that the bracket did not last for you. While I do not have one with a hinge, I recommend taking a look at part # LP15SB. It is a similar bracket that uses the light studs to install however it is metal versus plastic.
