Video Transcript for Bulldog Winch Electric Winch BDW20155 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're gonna take a look at the Bulldog winch hitch receiver mounting plate for 2" hitches. Now this will offer a portable mounting option for your winch. Your winch will basically mount onto this mounting plater, has the adjustable handle positions right here, make it very easy to transport your winch from different vehicles. It is designed to fit into any standard 2" by 2" hitch receiver. They do even include the hitch pin and clip to install it into your hitch receiver. Now this is used for truck winches up to 12,000 pound capacity that uses a standard 10 and 4 1/2" mounting bolt pattern.

You can see the bolt pattern they have on the mounting plate. Now one last note. The capacity on this is based on the capacity of your vehicle receiver and this also will not fit large body truck winches because those winches are too heavy for portable use, too large to fit onto this plate and it will not fit the alpha series because the frames on the alpha winches are too large to fit into this mount. You can see they do have the three different holes at the bottom so you can put the bolt through there just to adjust whatever position you need these handles in. But again, you just have your winch mounted on here. You can grab it by the handle, slide it into the hitch receiver and then when you're done, you can just pull it right out.

But that should do it for the review on the Bulldog winch hitch receiver mounting plate for 2" hitches.

I'm off to overland in Texas and wanted you to know that the hitch and winch carrier are perfect. Using quick connectors, I can use ir on the front and rear.

Removing it also saves on gas.

It works great with a moulded number, saving on buying a specialized steel bumper and other expensive attachments.

I like that I can still have all the internal mud guards and brush cover without having to take them off and not be able to have them on.

Awesome!

The overall build and construction of the mount is actually quite good, I have no complaints there. It seems to be made well and is as advertised. Unfortunately, however, that’s the only good news: not only did the package arrive almost completely destroyed but because of this several pieces of hardware were missing. Still, I was willing to overlook this as it could’ve been partially the fault of FedEx/ UPS. The reason that I am only giving it 1 star is because, contrary to the answer given in the Q&A, this mount DOES NOT fit my Warn Zeon 12-S winch. The reply when asked about fitment was “Yes, the Bulldog Winch Receiver Mount Kit part # BDW20155 will work with the Warn Zeon 12-S Platinum Winch 95960 as they both use the same industry standard 10" long x 4-1/2" wide mounting pattern.” As long as you are willing to do without the handles this answer is true. Misleading, but true. It may be worth noting that as long as you have a winch that is smaller in overall size than the Warn Zeon 12-S, it should work just fine.

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. I have reached out to the manufacturer and confirmed that this mounting plate does prevent clearance for the handles on the Zeon winch. There is another winch plate that would work as it is designed for oversize frame winches up to 12k. It is part # BDW20011.

Product arrived on time packaged well no damages because of my setup I have to get a extension to clear my current brush guard however was all put together when came out of the box but 4 bolts for the handles super easy to use holds my smittybilt 12k winch perfectly and fits nice in the receiver without a lot of wiggle very good product

Keep in mind that using an extension will lower the capacity of the hitch to a degree, because of the extra leverage exerted especially if the winch is pulling at an angle. If the extension were to break under load, it could lead to injury.

I picked this winch from etrailer as it provided an incredible value at the time of purchase vs other option here and from other retailers. It ended up being way overkill for what I use it for, but I never have to worry about overloading it either. Went together well and mounted up like it should to the Bulldog receiver mount I got too (hitch plate welded/mounted on car hauler, winch is removable and not subject to road grim ever). Plan on years of service from this combination!

by:

Quick service…. looks sturdy, maybe a little iffy for 12,000 pound winch. A snatch block will fix that load issue. The paint is already peeling on the corners. I previously ordered a Curtis Front tire carrier, different vender , however it will NOT fit a Dually TIRE. so planning on placing a spare tire on the platform and securing with ratchet straps.

by:

Good concept, but extremely flimsy, as it relies only on the hitch receiver for stability. It definitely needs some additional parts to keep it from wiggling, bending and rocking when the winch (SmittyBuilt) is in use. I doubt that it could even pull my little Ridgeline out of a ditch without deforming or ripping apart, but I'm afraid to test it.

by:

I bought this for my Badlands ZXR12000 and it fit perfectly.

by:

Fast delivery! Looks Great!

by:

Came as described, packaging was beat up pretty bad but nothing wrong with the plate. Holds my Badlands winch no problem, this is a better solution to needing a winch other than spending [money] on a front bumper with a winch mount.

by:

This fit my Badland 12k winch very well, it's very heavy duty and I don't worry about the ability to handle what I throw at it, not to forget the price was very reasonable thanks etrailer.

by:

As usual, another great experience with etrailer. Shipped super quick. Love the handles, which are a must-have if you will be hitch mounting and dismounting a heavy portable winch a lot. Handles are also adjustable so allow for a lot of different winch sizes.

by:

Nice and strong. Just a bit too tight for our warn 8000 winch. Tight squeeze, but made it work aok!

by:

The Bulldog Winch Receiver is a must-have. Fit my needs perfectly. Easy to use and makes using the Bulldog winch that much easier.

by:

Easy setup for my winch and it makes it easy to get mounted to my trailer hitch. A great product if you want to have a winch but don’t want a permanent mount.

by:

This cradle is light and compact and looks pretty sturdy. Since tow receivers are only rated for 5000# and my winch is rated for 9000#, I will run my winch cable through a snatch block and back to a hook on my tow receiver.

by:

Well Built. Much more substantial handles compared to the bent tubing on others. Love how the handles are adjustable to fit the winch. Easy to use.

by:

Very well made! Strong and stout, Don get the cheep one fellas, you or someone else may be depending on it. Haven't gotten my winch yet but when I do I will post pictures.
As always, a great experience working with and purchasing from etrailer!

by:

very happy with the winch and mount, instructions were easily understood and the finished product was all it was said to be. will continue to deal with this business as they are professionals.

by:

Working great with my 12000lb winch. thanks. works with my truck and car hauler

by:

Not too impressed. It seems pretty lightweight for a winch carrier. In all fairness I have not used it yet but that is my first impression

by:

Winch receiver mount is well made and works great with the Badland Apex winch.

by:

Totally pleased with mount.
Much better
quality than I thought I would get for the price !!
Putting a 12,000 lbs winch on it, not worried about the mount at all.
Once again etrailer delivers !!!

by:

Not much to say. Pretty simple idea. Bolt pattern lines up with a warn winch good. Fairly sturdy.

by:

Well Built, Real Decent Quality, And Easy Installation. A #1.

by:

great price, fast shipping. exactly as described. have purchased many items from etrailer and always satisfied.

  • Mounting Options for Bulldog Winch on 2018 Ford F-150
To mount the Bulldog Winch # BDW10041 to your 2018 Ford F-150 I recommend using the Westin MAX Winch Mounting Tray # 46-23835. This is a custom rust-resistant steel tray that will bolt to your truck's frame to accommodate the Bulldog Winch with pre-drilled mounting holes. All of the hardware is included. I have attached the written installation instructions that you can also check out. Another, less permanent solution is with the Bulldog Winch Receiver Mount Kit # BDW20155 that will...

  • Front Hitch and Winch Plate for 2017 Ford F-250 for Mounting Winch at Front of Truck
Your biggest issue is going to be that the grille guards and the front hitches occupy the same area and use the same install points on the frame of the vehicle so there's no easy way (if at all) to install both at the same time. If you aren't super attached to the grille guard idea I'd go with just a front hitch so you could use a removable winch plate like the # BDW20155 at both the front and the rear of the vehicle. The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch # C31078 that you referenced is...

  • Is There a Ball Mount With an Accessory Receiver
A multipurpose ball mount is what you're looking for, and we have just that with the Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver # D210. This ball mount fits in 2" hitches and has a 2-1/4" drop with a towing capacity of 7,500 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 750 lbs. The 2" receiver on top is for accessories only so it could work with something like Winch Mounting Plate # BDW20155. The ball mount requires a hitch ball with a 1" diameter shank, such as the 2" # 63845 or 1-7/8" # 19260.

If you were to be in a situation that would put all of the winches strength to use (which would be unlikely) it would end up damaging either your vehicle or the hitch.
