Ordered this to fit with an eTrailer hitch for my Rav4. This was recommended as the correct extender by live chat support. Does not fit. Will not line up for the bolt to engage threads in the receiver. Also the lock is very wiggly and does not hold the extender firmly in the receiver. Super disappointed.

I had the parts taken from our warehouse and tested together. You hit the nail on the head as the inside measurement from the center of the pin hole to the solid back is 3.75 inches, which is not quite long enough for the On Ramp Yakima bike rack shank. I also tested the shank with adapter part # C45791 and it worked perfectly. I will have Customer Service reach out to you for the best option to have extender part # e88YR returned. As for the wiggly lock, I recommend also including an anti rattle device such as part # RM-061 or part # GY88XR. They would help to hold the extender tighter to the hitch opening which helps to minimize movement.

I would definitely give these items and more importantly your sales and service. 5 stars
My new F150 has a taller tailgate and the hitch receiver is farther under the bumper than my old ‘06 F250. It is also a little higher off the ground.
One picture shows how the tailgate hits tongue Jack on my utility trailer.
The ball was 8” from the receiver. The extension and new 4” drop ball mount move the ball to 14”.
So now the tailgate can open completely. Of course I needed to lengthen the chains and wiring pigtail. The trailer is only rated for 2900 lbs so it won’t exceed the decrease in load rating.

It looks good and I'm sure will work well. It does what I wanted

I ordered a trailer hitch extension and it got lost in shipping. The folks at Etrailer immediately took care of me and shipped another one that I received 3 days later. Thank you everyone for your help!

Very High quality product, as has been everything else that I have purchased from E Trailer. Purchased to allow me to open the tailgate on my Wrangler with a carrier installed. I will try to post pictures as soon as I use it.

  • Does the Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT Need a Hitch Extender for a 2021 Jeep Wrangler?
The question of whether you need a hitch extension to use the Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT # TH83JV depends on what hitch you have installed on your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4XE as well as the width of your spare tire. If you have a hitch like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98856, the length from the center of the hitch pinhole to the end of the spare tire will be about 8 inches. With that length, you will need a hitch adapter...

  • Is Hidden Hitch Trailer hitch Extender 80307 Compatible with Anti-Rattle Devices
I pulled one from the warehouse, and theTrailer Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers - 8" Long # e88YR does not have a hollow shank. It hass a solid steel shank, therefore it is not compatible with anti-rattle devices like the # SR25219 anti-rattle hitch pin, which features a threaded nut that slips into the hollow portion of the ball mount or accessory shank.

  • Will the Rola Enclosed Cargo Carrier Clear the Spare Tire on a Jeep Wrangler
In order to clear the spare tire on your Wranger, the Geardeck # H00604 Enclosed Cargo Carrier requires 14 inches of clearance. To determine if it will fit, have a helper hold a straight edge like a yardstick flush against the rear of the spare. Measure 14 inches rearward from the hitch pin hole of the receiver hitch on your Wranger. If this 14 inch measurement hits the yardstick, it will clear the spare tire, and theGearDeck 17 Enclosed Carrier will work great for you. Using a hitch...

  • Towing Capacity and Parts Needed to Tow Trailer with 2017 Subaru Outback 3.6L
I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2017 Subaru Outback with the 3.6L engine and it lists a towing capacity of 1,000 pounds for a trailer without brakes and 2,700 pounds for a trailer with brakes. As you mentioned it lists a tongue weight capacity in either case of 200 pounds. A vehicle's tongue weight capacity is usually just 10 percent of its towing capacity, but there are certain instances like on your Subaru Outback where this is not the case. I am not...

  • Folding Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier Recommendation to Clear Rear Spare 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser
Thanks for getting me the hitch pin to end of spare tire clearance your vehicle has. That makes my job much easier. The etrailer Cargo Carrier part # e98874 just might work for you. When folded up it has a distance of 9-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest railing of the carrier. Basically you would be 1/2 inch shy of clearance so you may want to verify the measurement you took. Otherwise you'd need to use a hitch extender like # e88YR.

  • Is it Okay to Use a Hitch Extender in Between a Swing-Away Extender and a Bike Rack?
You are correct that using a hitch extender such as the #e88YR will reduce the hitch's total tongue weight capacity by 50%, so if your daughter's hitch normally supports 350 lbs TW, with the adapter it can support only 175 lbs. I contacted Yakima in regard to using a hitch extender off of a swinging arm such as the the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # Y02483, and they are strongly against using it this way. Although the arm is rated to support up...

  • Extending Hitch for Bike Rack on 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon
There are many bike racks compatible with the 4 inch recessed hitch. You will just want to find one with a long shank. Each bike rack we carry will have the measurement from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack so you can confirm fit. For example, the RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - Wheel Mount # RKY10004 measures 11 inches when carrying and 6-1/4 inches when folded close to the vehicle. • Which Platform 4-Bike Rack has Most Clearance to Fit Past Rear Spare of Jeep Wrangler and Liberty
The Thule T2 4-bike rack part # TH69TX has 7 inches of clearance to fit past the spares at the back of your vehicles so I would be surprised if the rack fit. The 7 inches is from the center of it's hitch pin hole to the nearest bike rail, which is the distance you'd have to worry about. You could measure this on your two jeeps. So what you have to do if you wanted to verify the fit is measure from the pin hole out to the furthest point out on the rear spares of both vehicles. As long...

In order to verify if the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 1 Bike - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # KU64FR will fit your 2006 Honda CRV with spare tire, you will need to take a measurement. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your hitch receiver, all the way to the rear-most part of your spare tire to determine how far a bike rack will need to be from your hitch receiver. • Solution to Allow Thule T2 Pro to Fit 2 inch Hitch of 2022 Subaru Outback
Yes, the etrailer hitch extender part # e88YR would work to allow you to use the OEM hitch of your 2022 Subaru Outback with the Thule T2 Pro XTR part # TH83JV which has the auto pin setup. This will move the hitch opening for the rack out 8 inches which would be enough for the auto pin not to interfere with your bumper.

To gain the most clearance you would use the first mounting hole, which is 2.5 inches from the edge of the shank to the center of the hole. The first thing to check is to make sure the scooter carrier you have is rated for use at the back of an RV. Due to the distance from the rear axle to the back of an RV (which is longer than on a passenger vehicle) there is considerably more bouncing (like being at the back of a school bus). This additional stress creates a lot of stress on the hitch and the carrier. If the carrier is rated for use at the back of an RV then what might work for you is the multipurpose ball mount, # D210....
