Hitch Extender for Jeep Wrangler With Receiver Mounted Bike Rack
Question:
Howdy, Do you know if I would need some sort of extender with the Yakima Full Swing 4 bike rack to clear the tire of a jeep wrangler? Best, Mac

Expert Reply:
On your Yakima FullSwing 4-bike rack the distance between the end of the receiver and the upright portion of the bike rack is about 8-1/2". (I have attached a picture illustrating this.) You would have to measure the depth of your spare tire to see if it will fit normally. I suspect it will be too close, but if it is, you can use the 8" etrailer # 80307 hitch extender if you have a 2" square receiver opening. If you have a 1-1/4" square receiver opening you can use the 7" Curt # D189 hitch extender.
I would recommend that you use the etrailer # e99047 locking hitch pin for 2" receivers or etrailer # e98879 for 1-1/4" receivers. These will deter theft of your entire rack and bikes.
I have attached links to all products.
