I recently bought a truck tent that sets up over the open tailgate. I have a bump/step that became totally useless as it was covered by the tailgate. Then I came across the ST18 extension. Now after the tent is set up, I install the extension then the bump/step itself and your able to step up and into the tent with no problems, and it's also extremely stable!

This is exactly what I needed. Being a long time RV owner, I have purchased many items from E-trailer and have never had a bad experience. Great service, product exactly as described.

  • Solution for Adding Mobility Scooter Lift to Ram 3500 Towing 5th Wheel Trailer
The Brophy Hitch Extender # AT18 that you referenced is capable of handling the weight of the lift you're looking at plus the weight of the scooter itself. Even when considering that the adapter reduces the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 33-1/3 percent you are in good shape because your Ram is equipped with a Class V hitch that has more than enough capacity. In terms of listed capacities and technical safety you won't have an issue with this setup. With this type of extension...

  • Can Brophy Ball Mount BM20 Be Used With an 18 Inch Hitch Extender
You can use the Brophy 18 inch extender # ST18 and the # BM20 extended length ball mount together but using the extender will lower your hitch tongue weight and towing capacity by 33-1/3%. If your Class V OEM hitch receiver is 2-1/2 inch, you'll also need a reducer like # C45405.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution & Hitch Extender to Towing a Camper and Trailer with 2015 Chevy 3500
For your situation, I cannot recommend you use a hitch extender like # ST18 and a longer weight distribution shank, but I do have a couple solutions for you. A hitch extender like # ST18, will not be able to support the weight of your trailer and weight distribution system. This extender maxes out at 700lbs TW when used with a weight distribution system which we have figured your trailer alone will have max 600-900lbs when loaded and you have to account for the weight of the system which...

  • 18 Inch to 20 Inch Hitch Extender and Ball Mount for Clearing a 2002 GMC 2500HD Tailgate
You have a couple of options depending on the size of the receiver on your 2002 GMC 2500HD. The tailgate on your truck is close to 20" tall so it sticks out around 17"-18" past your bumper. For a 2 1/2" receiver you can use the 7" long Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender item # HR26 and the 13-1/4" Long Brophy Ball Mount item # BH20 to get past your tailgate. The Brophy hitch extender does reduce your hitch's weight capacity by one third so you would want to confirm this does not put you...

  • Can 18 inch Extender be Used to Pull Boat Trailer Behind Travel Trailer
The Brophy Hitch Extender for 2-inch Trailer Hitches # ST18 can be used to tow a boat trailer behind your truck-pulled camper. There are a few things that you will want to keep in mind though. Even though you can pull a boat trailer behind a bumper trailer it is illegal is many states. The max Tongue Weight (TW) is 350 lbs and max Gross Trailer Weight is 3,500 lbs. Keep in mind that even though this might have a fairly good TW capacity, your TW capacity is reduced by 33-1/3% percent...

  • Recommended Cargo Carrier with Ramp to Clear Spare Tire on Jeep Wrangler
The Flint Hill Goods Cargo Carrier # C18112 is a really nice, aluminum carrier that is compatible with 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. When determining if a particular carrier or accessory will clear the spare tire on your Jeep, you will first want to take a quick measurement. Measure the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch receiver, to the outermost edge of the spare tire. The Flint Hill Goods Carrier features a distance from the center of the hitch pin...

  • Can You Use a Brophy ST18 with Weight Distribution
Though you will want to double check the towing rating of your 1999 Ford F-350 diesel, the weight ratings you listed will work with the Brophy # ST18. That being said, this will allow for a little movement when installed, especially with a weight distribution system. Due to this, you will want to add a couple anti rattle devices, like the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061. For what you will be doing, I would go with 2 of these. One for the hitch on the vehicle, and one for weight distribution...

  • Can I Use the Brophy Hitch Extender With Step on my 2017 Chevy Silverado While Towing
When using the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step - 2" Hitches - 18" Long - 6-1/2" x 17" Platform # ST18 it will reduce your hitch's capacity by 1/3, so if you've got a 1200-lbs max tongue weight capacity on your hitch it will only be 800-lbs/8000-lbs towing- when using this extender. This isn't an uncommon issue that's encountered, so you'll need to do some math on what you're towing and make sure that you wouldn't be over those numbers when doing so. This will be the case with any hitch...

  • Longest Hitch Extender with Highest Capacity for Dolly Towing Vehicle Behind Motorhome
The longest hitch extension for a 2 inch receiver with the highest towing capacity is the # ST18 from Reese. The extender has a 3,500 lb towing capacity. Keep in mind that using an extender like this particular one will lower your hitch towing and tongue weight capacity by one-third. The tongue weight shouldn't be an issue, because car dollies typically don't have a tongue weight much more than 100 lbs. The weight of the car plus the weight of the dolly couldn't exceed the 3500 lb towing...

  • How Much Does The Brophy Hitch Extender Reduce Tongue Weight
Almost all hitch extenders will cut your tongue weight in half. However, Brophy has confirmed their Brophy Hitch Extender with step part # ST18 will cut the tongue weight of the trailer hitch by only 33-1/3%. If your hitch is rated for 500 lbs tongue weight then the new tongue weight will be 333 lbs compared to 250 lbs with the other options. I instead recommend using an extra long ball mount if you can get away with it because they do not reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch...

  • Using Hitch Extender With Weight Distribution
Using an extender such as the Brophy # ST18 might be possible, but it will depend on the tongue weight capacity of the hitch on your truck. Using the extender will lower the hitch weight capacity by 1/3, so you'll want to find the ID label on the hitch which lists it weight distribution towing and tongue weight capacities. If 2/3 of the hitch towing and tongue weight capacity isn't less than the 360 lb tongue weight of the trailer, then using the extender would be okay. If the trailer's...

  • Can I Use a 18 Inch Hitch Extender with a 2016 Ford F-150 and a Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack
A hitch extender, like the Bropy Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches # ST18, can allow you to move the hitch point 18 inches from the your OEM trailer hitch on your 2016 Ford F-150. However, the drawback of using a hitch extender is it will cut your hitches over all capacity by one-third. You will have to calculate the weight of both the Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack, # S64670, and the weight of your bikes to find your total tongue weight. As an example, if your rack weighs 35 lbs...

  • Can Brophy Hitch Extender ST18 be Used to Add Distance Between Trailer Hitch and Trailer
Yes, the Brophy Hitch Extender # ST18 can be used as a way to extend out the distance between a trailer and the hitch it is installed in. With this extender you'd gain an additional 18 inches. Only thing you'll want to keep in mind is that when you use a hitch extender like this you cut the capacity of the hitch it is installed in by 50 percent. I attached a picture of this used as a hitch extender for you to check out as well.

  • How To Extend Trailer Hitch For 10,000lb Boat Trailer On 2020 Ram 3500 Dually With Bed Camper
A hitch extender, such as the Brophy Hitch Extender # ST18, will work with your 6,000lb boat trailer if used with a weight distribution hitch. This is because the # ST18 has a max towing capacity of 3,500lbs and tongue weight of 350lbs, but when used in combination with a weight distribution system, this extender can handle up to 7,000lbs and 700lb tongue weight. Based off of the information you have provided me I recommend the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step item # ST18. This is an 18" extension that fits a 2" hitch receiver and has a 6.5" x 17" step. It is rated for up to 7,000 lbs if used with a weight distribution system and 3,500 lbs if used without. • Availability of Hitch Extension Longer than 16 inches Rated for Weight Distribution
We have the Brophy 18-inch extension part # ST18 which has a 7,000 lb weight rating when used with a weight distribution system like you mentioned using that would be your best option. This extension cuts the capacity of your hitch by 33-1/3% though so you'll need to keep that in mind as well.

  • Can Brophy Extension # ST18 Be Used with Motorcycle Carrier
I wouldn't recommend the use of a hitch extender with a motorcycle carrier under normal circumstances as that adds quite a bit of leverage and torque on the hitch it's installed in.
