Westlake Radials

This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective later of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, this deep, rugged tread channels water away so that the tire makes better contact with the road. This greatly improves traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. Because of this, the tire is specifically designed for off-roading on uneven terrain such as mud, sand, and grass, although it performs well on highways and other paved roads as well.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

These are great tires. I was fortunate to have them come with my camper when I bought it. When it came time to replacing the tires, I knew which ones I wanted. Yes, they are pricier than others but they're great wearing, long lasting tires and worth it. I was amazed at how quickly etrailer.com got these to me, also. I've never does business with them before but I will in the future when the need arises.

@Diana We're happy to hear they're working well for you!

by:

Looked everywhere for this tire, could only find it here. Quick delivery and just what I needed.

by:

A little pricey for a trailer tire, but excellent quality. The one we're replacing was under extreme stress due to a broken leaf spring while traveling down a freeway at 65mph but, while the tread was chewed up a bit, continued on with no problem.

by:

Over priced but a match for the RV trailer. Great service as always!

by:

They’re a good off road all purpose tire fo

by:

These are exactly the tires I need for my trailer. They arrived quickly, and the purchase process was easy.

by:

Matches my other trailer tires. Arrived quickly.

by:

I leave in Canada (Montréal) and this tire is not avalable OEM or tire shop. Order to etrailer and i receved my tire 4day later.Easy transaction and thé traking tool work very well.

by:

Aggressive tread perfect for off-pavement and work great on-pavement as well. Purchased to replace the same original tires that came equipped on a 2020 R-Pod RP189 after one blew out on the freeway. The original tires were manufactured in 2018 and already 1.5 years old when the trailer was originally purchased new in 2020. These new tires from e-trailer were manufactured in June 2023 and are only 3 months old and will be good for 3 years. Check the date codes on your trailer tires.

by:

Purchased these to replace existing Westlake tires on a 2021 No Boundaries travel trailer. The original tires performed well, so I found the same tires on eTrailer and ordered what I needed.

by:

Replacement for the originals. etrailer also gets 5 stars for having the tires and the lightning fast shipping.

by:

I was looking for this specific tire to replace the pair I had. The price was good, and I got free shipping that made the price a bargain. Delivery wasn't expected until Tuesday, but they arrived three days early.

by:

I been on several off road adventures since I purchased these tire and I'm happy with the performance.

by:

Although I have not had time to test the product, I am very happy with the customer service and prompt delivery of the items.

by:

Great looking tire. Tire delivered much quicker that expected. Customer service following up during the delivery process even offered to ship alternate tire to assure the tire got here quickly.

Thank you George J.

by:

After doing research I could have bought these tires so much cheaper somewhere else. The mark up on these was huge through etrailer which means probably everything else too so my business is done with them

by:

A little expensive, but when your puling a single axel you need something you can trust, The treed life of this tire is unreal. Will buy again when needed .I liked the service of the reps at etrailer.

by:

Tires are great, second set on my 2016 RPOD. These were the only ST off-road trailer tires I could find. Good quality, no issues

by:

Excellent tires and service. They have been durable and reliable over the year we've had them.

by:

Perfect replacement with a higher load range.

by:

Excellent service and tracking ability for delivery

Great off-road trailer tire at a great price!

by:

It will work for me just what I needed

Good tire, good service from retailer. This to replace a road damaged one. If it had been a regular road tire, I'm sure it would have caused a blow out.

  • Flow-Through TPMS Sensors For Westlake ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tires
There isn't a guide to tell us what valve stem was installed on your wheels but you likely have rubber valve stems since the Westlake # WST54FR has a 65psi rating. Flow-through sensors a bit heavier and can end up waving back and forth on a rubber valve stem since they're a bit flexible. This can cause the stem to deteriorate and leak, which is why TPMS systems will note that they need to be used on metal valve stems. If you want to replace your valve stems you'll need to remove one and...

  • Recommended Off-Road Trailer Tire For A 15 Aluminum Wheel
I do indeed have something for you to check out. The Westlake ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire # WST54FR seems to be exactly what you are looking for. This is a rugged radial tire with a D weight rating (2,910 pounds at 65 psi) and an L speed rating (75 mph). We are pretty limited on the wheels we have for this tire, but if you wanted to check out the Aluminum Sendel Series T02 Machined Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 # AM22653 it would make a nice-looking combo with...

  • Is the Westlake ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire Good For Long Highway Trips?
You are safe staying with your Westlake ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire # WST54FR as long as it is not damaged or showing signs of dry rot due to sun damage. As this tire has a radial construction it will perform well on the highways. It is very smart having a TPMS # TM89FR to monitor the tire pressure and temperature during your trip. This will help you in the event of a flat before the tire has a blowout and damages your trailer. I do recommend bringing a spare Wheel # AM20551...

  • Westlake st235/75r15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire Weight Capacity
The Westlake ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire item # WST54FR is a load range D tire and has a weight capacity of 2,910 lbs each at 65 ps. These tires can also go up to 75 miles per hour. If you're currently using these tires with your 2017 RPOD 178 HR travel trailer you should have no problem continuing to use them. So long as the tires are properly inflated and you are keeping your trailer below 5,800 lbs you will no problems with these tires.

  • Troubleshooting One Trailer Tire Heating Up Internally Faster Than The Other
With the temperature of the Westlake ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire # WST54FR rising so much higher than the other tire it worries me that there is something off with one of the tires. Trailer tires will typically rise the same temperatures unless there is something causing more friction on one tire than the other. This could be caused from the spindle being bent, hub bearings not set correctly, or even a case of one trailer brake dragging or not engaging properly. I recommend...

  • Checking For Larger 15" Tires When Lifting a Torsion Axle With 205/75-15 Tires
Currently our tallest 15" tires are going to be the Westlake ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire # WST54FR. These tires are 1.8" taller and 1.2" wider than your current 205/75-15" tires. With you adding a lift like the Torflex Lift Kit # K71-707-01 you should have plenty of vertical clearance but you should still still check the fender clearance as well as side wall clearance since the tires will be wider. The sidewalls I like to have at least 1" of clearance and 3" of vertical clearance...

I have a solution for you, but we won't have a tire that is ST235/75r15 that isn't an off-road type tire like the # WST54FR. With that said, you could go down to an ST225/75r15 tire like the # LHWL304 and only lose about .2" of total ground clearance. These tires have a Load Range E with a maximum capacity of 2,830 lbs at 80 psi and a speed rating of L- which means they're safe up to 75mph. This would be the best solution available and would be a good alternative to your current off-road...

Running the Westlake ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire - Load Range D # WST54FR at a lower psi may help soften the ride a little or perhaps help with traction when you're off-road. However, doing so can and will cause the tire to wear unevenly, so it is not recommended. Also, running the tires at a lower psi will result in an unknown weight capacity for the tire. • Is a Tire Running at 130 Degrees Fahrenheit Normal

This can obviously vary depending on the weight of the trailer, how fast you're traveling, driving habits. While 130 is probably "normal", it isn't really a standard to try to stay at. I would say that you want to avoid hitting the 167 degree mark, that is usually when problems...

You are correct the Westlake ST235/75R15 Radial Tire w 15" Phoenix Aluminum Wheel # LH52FR has a higher capacity tire than the wheel. This is often the case as many prefer to step up the weight capacity of the tire as they feel it helps the tire last longer. Also understand you typically will not see a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern on an axle with a capacity over 4,000lbs so the wheels are still going to have a higher capacity then the axle they are mounted too.
