Westlake Radials

This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Westlake Standard Tread Close-Up

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Tire arrived in perfect condition. The year of the tire was made was the year purchased. Will purchase another set in two years since I replace every three years. Price was good.
Thanks you,

I am a great fan of etrailer, but these tires are very poor. I am very diligent about tire pressures and lug nut torque and check both before every trip or after an overnight stop. Tires are inflated per the manufacturers specification. The trailer had these as OEM equipment, and this tire was a replacement for one of them. The trailer is 24' and was carrying my Mini track car. Speed was around 70mph as a maximum. We weighed it and it was certainly no where near the weight limit for the trailer or the tires. Despite all of that, three of these tires delaminated and exploded on my ATC trailer in the space of two trips over about 6 months. They were costly to replace and did significant damage to my wheel wells and steps, which added to the expense. I would not recommend buying these tires.

by:

Very good tires, second set I've owned.. Will use them again.. We have an account with etrailer. Always have treated up well.

by:

These tires are exactly what I ordered they are a very good tire. Had some exactly like these on another trailer and they did fantastic no problems and tread wear was good.

The tires I purchased have been working fantastic. I especially like them that they dont have little sipes in the tires which allows them to get rid of the rocks and dont get stuck in the tread. Wear is also perfect. Would recommend this tire to anyone that needs them.

by:

I give a 5 star rating to etrailer as they never disappoint. I'm hoping these 4 tires that go on my camper will do the same. I was pleased them as the original camper tire.

In the past year we have traveled from Virginia to Nova Scotia and back. And also from Virginia to Florida and back. The tires still look brand new. Thus, very pleased!

Absolutely great packaging and shipping. Quick turn around from order to receipt. Now there is one more item that I can add to my list to purchase from your company. Thank you so much.

Still a wonderful set of tires. I will definitely reorder when these get to that worn out period.

When a nail punctured the sidewall of my trailer tire I found myself in need of a quick replacement. With no local business able to provide an exact replacement, a web search quickly yielded information about etrailer and their quality of service. After ordering, I had the tire in a very short time and I’m back on the road! Great support, and always kept informed that my order had been placed, shipped, and delivered. Can’t ask for much more than that.

by:

I checked with the “Big Tire Companies such as Les Schwab, and Americas Tires and I had no luck. They said that they couldn’t get the same tire that I needed. I called e trailer and they knew exactly what I needed. I paid for it and a couple of days later I received exactly what I needed. Super People,Super Store,
Super Service. I have will be back for more items.

Very good service.

by:

Showed up fast! Days earlier than expected. Definitely the turn-to company for trailer tires

by:

I give one star because I can't give 0!
I've
had nothing but trouble. Two of four of these tires have delaminated causing over five thousand dollars in damages to my 2019 Grand Design 21g. I have used a tire pressure monitoring system since day one. Always running the recommended 80 psi cold. I removed all of these tires "China Bombs " and threw them away. I replaced them with Goodyear Endurance. I'm just one of many victims of these tires. Do your homework! You will find many people with the same problems. My tires had less than 9000 miles when they just exploded. I am a very careful driver and there is nothing I could have done to contribute to the tire failures. Note the two failures were more than a month apart. On opposite sides of the camper.

by:

In stock, exact match for my Aluma trailer and terrific customer service

by:

Made in China has a connotation of poor quality at best, most of the time junk.
These Westlake tires are made in China however to the contrary they are top-quality.
Don’t hesitate in using these as replacement!
Plus buy them from etrailer.com, for first class service, call and asked for Chris W!!

Westlake trailer tires have always given me good service and etrailer was fast and received the right tire in good shape

by:

Fast delivery and the exact part I orde red.

by:

Unfortunately we had 2 blowouts with these Westlake tires in August 2021. 1 of them was less that a year old with maybe 1,000 miles on it. After the 2nd blowout which caused significant damage to the travel trailer, we replace all Westlakes with another brand.

by:

I caught a nail in one of my tires close to the outside tread making it necessary to replace the tire. I replaced the bad tire with factory supplied Westlake tire. The original tires have about 3,500 miles on them and are wearing well.

by:

purchased with white rims to match....has been a good purchase and received some valued input from e-trailer. (needed better load range tires but needed rims to match my bolt pattern). Tires seem to be of high quality.

Fast shipping and an exact replacement for my travel trailer. I've had these Westlake ST 225/75R15s on my GD2970RL (8,500lbs) for just under a year and have had no problems at all, and we've towed a solid 5,000 miles or more so far. Yes, they are Chinese made, but they have to meet DOT standards and I know plenty of folks that run these on various types of trailers with no problems at all. We were returning from a camping trip recently and got a sharp piece of metal stuck in the side of one of the tires. We're pretty sure it was from an area of road construction we went through. Would've been the exact same outcome even if I had a super high-end tire. The tire held up perfectly other than the small leak. Luckily, we have roadside assistance, so they helped get us swapped over to the spare pretty quick. Had a real hard time finding one locally, but etrailer had me a new one in 2 days! Not even gonna miss our trip this weekend! Thanks etrailer!

We do have Load Range E tires in the size ST225/75R15 like the Westlake part # LHWL304 which would work great. These have a weight capacity of 2,830 lbs at 80 psi and have a higher speed rating of 75 mph. We do not have a Load Range G in this size. If you do not need the additional weight capacity from the tire it would not be required.

  • ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire Recommendation for a 2019 Jayco Baja Travel Trailer
You most certainly can upgrade your 215/75R15 tires to the 225/75R15 size since either tire size is designed to fit on a 15" wheel. So you can keep your wheels and then I recommend upgrading to the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # LHWL304. This has a load range of E (2,830 lbs at 80 psi), a speed rating of L (75 mph) and comes with a 5-year warranty which is pretty much when you'll want to swap out tires for newer ones anyway. The best part is this tire is backed by the complimentary...

  • What Is the Mileage Rating for the Westlake Radial Trailer Tires
The Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire part # LHWL304 does not have a tread life mileage rating as the manufacturer does not test for this. That said, none of the other trailer tire manufactures test for this either because trailer tires wear much differently than passenger tires. However, there is still a gauge to estimate life expectancy and that is by the age. Generally speaking, trailer tires can last up to six years if cared for properly which means always inflating to the maxi...

  • Should the Same Two 4.80-12 Tires Have the Same Outer Diameter.
Assuming you have the same two 4.80-12 tires, they should have the same outer diameter. It sounds like the reason for the difference was the different psi in each tire. Once you have filled both to the max psi, the diameter should be identical. The only other reason they might vary is if it is two different tires. For example, the Kenda # AM10062 has an outer diameter of 20.5" when inflated and the Taskmaster # TT48012C has an outer diameter of 20.63" even though both are 4.80-12 tires.

You are doing the right thing whether you fully realize it by removing P rated tires and installing ST tires. P tires should only be used on passenger vehicles and ST for trailers. The tire will be a bit smaller in diameter but aside from that it won't really make any noticeable differences. Yes, the Aluminum HWT 07 Series 6 Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" - 6 on 5-1/2 # AM20458 has a weight capacity of 2,830 lbs. That is per wheel, so when you use it on a single axle, you would double that capacity giving you a max capacity for your trailer of 5660 lbs.
