Provider Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Provider Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Provider radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Provider tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Arrived quick and well packed. So far so good. They mounted, their round, they hold air. The big test to come- a 1500 mile run home. Only down side is that the tires I originally ordered were out of stock and weren't expected in any time soon. These unheard of brand to me were 15.00 more each. Christina J was very helpful.

by:

Tires look great. I have to get them spin balanced and mounted so I can't speak of their performance just yet.

by:

This is the good stuff. I had "cheapies" on my trailer and kept having to fix flats, which can put a huge damper on a trip, especially if you have to put on a spare in the rain. Since buying these I have had no issues and they are truly, "the good stuff". Hi speed, Hi temp durable tires that last a long time.

by:

Received extremely fast, had local tire shop mount and balance, the rims are mine, I just bought tires.... quality so far

by:

So far so good, went right on the wheels I ordered to go with it. Came quickly and are very obviously brand new as advertised.

Going on a 1000 mile road trip with them towing my boat this weekend, will report back if I have issues, otherwise assume I'm happy!

by:

I am impressed with how quickly I got the tires, No hassles! I am glad to have found speed rated trailer tires. I have not had them long enough to determine if they will last or how well they will perform I have towed approximately 500 miles (22' center console boat with dual axle trailer) with no issues. If they last and wear will I will upgrade the rating if they perform poorly I will down grade the rating.

Well I have had these tires on for a year now. Have had no issues. They didnt even lose air over the short Florida winter storage. I have recommended these to several people who were looking for trailer tires. I think the biggest thing that people arent aware of is the heat that builds up in these smaller trailer tires on the highway. I have not noted any deterioration or tread separation so far. we have pulled several 100 mile trips though no 1,000 mile trips yet. I will update as they allow me to!

by:

eTrailer has been amazing. Their website walks you through what you need. My new bearing kit and dust caps were exact based on the recommendations from the experts at eTrailer. The new tires are amazing, and I am excited to try them on my pop up.

Thanks eTrailer!

I am still absoluetly happy with the product. Though we have had a long winter in Colorado so we have not used the trailer in about 6 months. I will know more how the tires are when I get the trailer out of storage in the coming weeks. Thanks for the follow up. Your company is amazing!!!

by:

Shipped quickly, installed on my wheels this morning myself. Made in China (4 Stars) .To early to rate the tires themselves. Ordering from Etrailer.com is easy and quick.

Installed on 16.6 boat trailer. Tires tracked fine. No unexpected issues.

Ordered these Wednesday afternoon and they were delivered On Friday. Shipping and packaging are top notch. Had the tires mounted and balanced over the weekend but am yet to road test the trailer.
Definitely plan on using again for my trailer supplies.

I didnt really think changing from bias to a radial tire would make a lot of difference but boy was I ever wrong! I wish I had changed years ago. A higher speed rating was a big plus plus the trailer seems to pull much easier now. Will definitely purchase again when the time comes and will be ordering again from Etrailer. 100 impressed with not only the product but shipping etc is top notch.

by:

Arrived quickly. Quality tire!

by:

Upgraded to a better tire for our teardrop camper. Best decision ever. The previous 12 inch tires were always having issues (from a tractor place). These tires perform well, and have not had any problems (no separation, goose egg's, improper wearing, etc). When these get worn, I will be replacing with the same from etrailer. (Axle, wheels, and tires were all purchased from etrailer.com)

by:

This is my third set. I typically run 70-75 mph out here in the southwest in temperatures as high as 115*. I put 8 to 10k miles on each year and have been changing tires every 2 1/2 years. I’m pulling a snall A-frame camper. I’ve had excellent experiences with this tirem

by:

I have about 5k miles on these tires on my 3-Rail Motorcycle trailer. I've dragged it over some pretty rough dirt roads loaded with three motorcycles, and down to Baja Mexico from San Francisco and back without a problem. Many roads in Baja were in poor condition due to construction, and weather - the tires have held up perfectly.

by:

I decided to order tires from etrailer hoping to get ones that were newly manufactured. When I bought my Aliner Sport in 2012 the tires were already two years old. I didn't know then that the life expectancy of a ST tire was more based on age than mileage. Less than 5K miles but almost 6 years, my original tire blew out at the start of a weekend trip. Bummer. Back home, after reading up on trailer tires I realized I had been lucky to run the original tires more than four years. Looking at my options I guessed etrailer would move more tires and would likely have newer tires in stock. I was right! The tires were manufactured in late May and I bought them in July. They look great, had good reviews, and will likely not be an issue for several years. ;>)

by:

Great looking tires for my 1982 Scamp camper. Got a set mounted and balanced on new etrailer rims. I like the tread design and high speed rating. Very happy with them.

by:

These tires are GREAT! I kept blowing tires because I didn't know the speed rating was so low on most tires (60). These tires are rated much higher (80) I think and have been performing awesome. I have towed the trailer about 10,000 miles and not one issue. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone and everyone.

by:

Great customer service! They were always in contact with me. I didn't need to check tracking because they were sending me updates as things were happening. And I received my tires sooooo fast I couldn't believe it.

by:

We have several trailers, which means, we end up buying trailer tires relatively frequently. These tires are by far the best trailer tire I have used. Have yet to have a blowout or belt seperation with these.
Very impressed.

by:

Most trailer-rated tires are too harsh for my <1500lb trailer. I was looking for a smooth-riding, quiet tire that would eject water and slush. I like the look of this tire tread.

by:

Tire and wheel worked great as a spare. We since sold the TT and the tire went with it.

by:

Tires were for a teardrop camper. Just returned from a vacation and tires were perfect. Thanks for fast delivery and a fair price.

by:

My order from etrailer.com arrived yesterday .It was very well packages and in perfect condition!!! The shipping was extremely fast, more so than I would have ever expected!!! The ordering process was very simple and straight forward!!! Price was also excellent. This company has superior customer service and I would not hesitate to order form them again. You guys rock!!!

by:

I've had these tires on my boat trailer for over 2 months and I've been very happy with them. I'm glad I purchased them a couple months ago, I saved about $40.00 compared to the current price.

by:

Have not put them on pop up trailer yet had medical issues in family last year. Hope to put them on this year and use it to go to Sturgis bike week in August.

by:

I bought two radial tires for replacement of ten year old camper tires. These new tires have restored my confidence in camping without break down worries and allow me to travel at highway speeds. A great price for the outstanding quality of product that arrived within a few days of ordering.

  • Higher Speed Rated Trailer Tire in Size 175/80R13
Most trailer tires are only rated for 65 miles per hour, but we do offer one tire in the size of 175/80R13 that does have a 81 mph speed rating. For that you would want the Taskmaster part # TTWTRTM1758013C. This is a Load Range C radial tire with a 1,360-lb max load at 50 psi capacity. I attached a review video for the tire for you to check out as well.

  • Can Radial Spare Trailer Tire be Used with Bias Tires
A radial tire will run cooler on highway use so there isn't any harm using one with the rest being bias if you have to use your spare. For your use I think you're best changing them all to radials eventually. Even though you travel on unpaved roads it sounds like the majority is highway travel. I recommend using the Taskmaster Provider # TTWTRTM1758013C. It has a max load capacity of 1,360 pounds at 50 psi. It also has an 81 mph speed rating which is higher than a lot of trailer tires.

  • Which Trailer Tire Size Replaces a G78-13 Tire
The 78-13 tire size could be a 175/80-13 or a 185/80-13 size. The difference in size is going to be mostly in the section width. A 175 is 7 inches wide and a 185 is 7.2 inches. The difference is height between the two sizes is only 0.3 inches. Both sizes fit 4-1/2 to 5-1/2 inch wide wheels. For a 175/80-13 you could use load range C tire # TTWTRTM1758013C rated for 1,360 pounds at 50 psi. For a load range D use # AM10210 rated for 1,610 pounds at 65 psi. I have a great solution for you. The Taskmaster ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire, part # TTWTRTM1758013C is rated for up to 87 mph as it has an M speed rating. Most trailer tires are only rated for 65 mph so this is a great option for you. Be sure to keep the tire inflated to it's 50 psi max so that you don't cause heat to build up which is a common cause for tire failure.

  • Can ST175/80R13 Trailer Tire Replace ST175/80D13
You listed two trailer tire sizes with the only difference being the letter R in the first size and D in the second. Those letters indicate the tire's construction. R means radial and D means bias ply. Radial is the preferred styled and is perfectly compatible to replace a bias ply of same size without issue. For a tire and wheel with the size you mentioned we have the part # TA43RR or for just a tire part # TTWTRTM1758013C.

I recommend using the Taskmaster ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TTWTRTM1758013C for your 1997 Starcraft Starmaster trailer. This tire has the same ST175/80-13 size as the existing tires on your trailer, but the Taskmaster # TTWTRTM1758013C is a radial tire instead of a bias ply tire, like the existing tires on your trailer. • Advantage of Replacing Trailer Tires with a Different Load Capacity
The advantage of changing from a Load Range C tire like # TTWTRTM1758013C to a Load Range D tire like # AM1ST77 is the weight capacity. It won't increase the capacity of your trailer, like you mentioned but you also don't want to decrease your capacity because your tires aren't rated high enough. Your trailer's capacity will be limited by its lowest rated component.

Yes, the two tire sizes are the same with the only difference being the R13 is a radial instead of a bias ply. Radial being the preferred style. Radial tires are preferred over bias ply tires so I would recommend you go that route. A radial tire flexes more than a bias tire, giving it better ground contact, traction, stability, and tread wear. A radial tire will normally run cooler than a bias ply tire, especially when the tire is under a load. A tire that runs cooler will last longer. The...

We do have a few options for a tire rated for at least 80 mph that fits on a 13" wheel for you to choose from. You may be able to use a 5.30x12 tire size on the boat trailer that is currently using the 175/80-13 tires but you will have to also replace the wheels. The other problem is capacity. The 5.30x12 at most is rated for 1,250 pounds whereas the 175/80-13 go up to as much as 1,610 pounds. The 5.30x12 are also 2 inches shorter and more narrow. When replacing the tires on your boat trailer, I do recommend going with radial ply units.
