Advantage of Replacing Trailer Tires with a Different Load Capacity
Question:
Is there an advantage to changing a tire from a load C rating to a load D or vice versa . I realize it wont decrease or increase load capacity which is rated on axles but is there advantage to one over the other?

Expert Reply:
The advantage of changing from a Load Range C tire like # TTWTRTM1758013C to a Load Range D tire like # AM1ST77 is the weight capacity. It won't increase the capacity of your trailer, like you mentioned but you also don't want to decrease your capacity because your tires aren't rated high enough.
Your trailer's capacity will be limited by its lowest rated component.
