Can Radial Spare Trailer Tire be Used with Bias Tires

Question:

I have a trailer with ST175/80D13 tires on it. Should I stick with bias ply for a spare tire/wheel or can a radial be used as a spare? I.E. can each tire be changed to radial at different times? We do a lot of highway travel with the utility trailer, but also travel several miles of unpaved dirt roads as well, so Im wondering which is best for our application?

A radial tire will run cooler on highway use so there isn't any harm using one with the rest being bias if you have to use your spare. For your use I think you're best changing them all to radials eventually. Even though you travel on unpaved roads it sounds like the majority is highway travel.

I recommend using the Taskmaster Provider # TTWTRTM1758013C. It has a max load capacity of 1,360 pounds at 50 psi. It also has an 81 mph speed rating which is higher than a lot of trailer tires.
