by:

Worked great!

by:

easy way to tie in new break-a-way brake controller

by:

I use these for repairing and installing new trailer wires. Waterproof sealant works great keeping moisture out of connection and preventing corrosion.

by:

The product was exactly as it was described and worked exactly as expected

by:

Nothing special. It works as expected.

It
does not however match the OEM style on my trailers where both of the lighting wires are "inside" the connector but only one is spliced to the lamp wire.

by:

Nice idea for waterproof connector, check your wire size/gage on the trailer side before ordering mine was too large to fit this connector.

by:

Fast shipping and great product. Easy to install on my boat trailer. Really helps with making connections. Will test the longevity of this product over the next several years. But overall very pleased, and etrailer is a wonderful company.

  • Left Turn Signal Circuit Causes Power to Bleed Over to Brake Circuit on 2006 Ford F-350
First, the center high mount stop lamp or CHMSL powers a third brake light. There is one under the truck for a camper shell that has a third brake light on it. To me it sounds like there is a short somewhere, wires exposed and touching other wires, which is causing the back feeding. It is likely a problem somewhere that is difficult to access or I imagine you would have found it by now since you have done so much already. What I recommend is to bypass the trouble circuits since they...

  • Alpena Trailblaze Tailgate LED Light Bar Does Not Show Passenger Side Lights
For starters, I recommend that you check the ground for the 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle as this could very well be causing your issue. If the ground checks out then this leads me to believe there is an issue with the trailer connector on your 2004 Chevrolet Silverado or the trailer connector on the Alpena Trailblaze Tailgate LED Lights part # ALP77229. I see you said that you replaced the 4-way but I didn't catch if it was the 4-way on the vehicle or the 4-way on the light...

  • Adding Extra LED Reverse Lights to a 2015 Subaru Forester
I recommend using LED back up light # BUL10CB which is actually DOT approved as a backup light. With it I recommend grommet # a70gb, mounting bracket # BK70BB, and wiring harness # A49PB. On the wiring harness the white wire is the ground and will attach to a clean, bare metal surface. The red wire is for power and would need to be spliced into a reverse light wire behind a tail light on your 2015 Subaru Forester. You will need to attach the new light red wire to a longer strand of wire...

  • Hardwiring a Trailer Brake Controller on a 1997 Chevy Astro Van with Factory Tow Package
A harness or a plug and play application is not available for the 1997 Chevy Astro for a brake controller. You will need to do a little hardwiring. Since you already have the blue wire taken care of, I will cover the other wires. The white wire is the ground. The ground will need to be attached to a length of wire like # 10-1-1, long enough to reach the vehicle battery. You will route the wire through the firewall and over to the battery and connect it to the negative battery terminal....

  • Parts Needed to Install 7-Way 1997 Jeep Wrangler for Towing Surge Brake Trailer with 7-Way
First you need to start with a 4-way connector if you do not have one already on your 1997 Jeep Wrangler. For that you would want the part # 118356. Then to convert this to a 7-way to match your trailer you need the part # 37185. The purple wire of this kit needs to be connected to your reverse light circuit and you will be set. You would want to use a quick splice like part # SWC501746-1 to tap into the reverse light circuit.

  • Where Is Reverse Light Typically Found for Activating Reverse Light Circuit on 7-Way
To find the reverse circuit to use for the purple wire will require you to test the wiring to your reverse lights and then tap into it. We don't have specific instructions for your vehicle but if you check out the install video I attached for a 5-way adapter you can see how we found it on a similar vehicle. For a quick splice you would want the part # SWC501746-1.

  • Parts Needed To Connect Lights From A Removable Trailer Extension To A 5th Wheel
Hi Rick, I am aware of the Swivelwheel extenders, though not the Blue Ox ones, so I do have an idea of what you are attempting to achieve. It sounds like what you are looking to do should pose no problems at all and shouldn't be too difficult either, especially if you are familiar with wiring. You will, of course, need some butt connectors, wiring, and both trailer and vehicle side 7 Way connectors. I have a list of everything you would need listed out below, but I included two different...

  • Tips for Powering Third Brake Light on 2005 Toyota Tacoma Camper Shell
From the research I did on your truck it has separate turn signals from stoplights at the rear taillight housing. What that means is you can tap into the stoplights at the assemblies to get just the stoplight power for the third brake light of the camper shell. Easiest way would be to test the wires that run to the assemblies and then once you find the one that carries the stoplight circuit with a tester like part # PTW2993 use a quick splice like # SWC501746-1 to tap into it. If the shell...

  • Converting 4-Way of 2001 Toyota Tundra to 5-Way to Tow Boat Trailer with Surge Brakes
We have a solution to convert your 4-way to a 5-way so that your reverse lockout solenoid can activate but we don't have a plug and play style of adapter. Instead your best option is a 4-way to 5-way adapter part # 20036 which plugs into your current 4-way and then gives you an additional wire you'd run to the reverse light circuit of your truck. You can use a quick splice connector part # SWC501746-1 to tap into the circuit easily.

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for a Boat Trailer
The Optronics 25 foot 4 Way Wire Harness # A25W2GWB will be a good option. This will generally have enough length to cover most trailers. I will also recommend adding in a few of the Spectro Self-Stripping Connector with Waterproof Sealant # SWC501746-1. These will make splicing into the # A25W2GWB significantly easier. Especially for your side marker lights.

Yes, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK35VR is confirmed to fit on your 2022 Tesla Model 3. While we do not have a separate connector like the one included with Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit # 391TES317T you found on Youtube. You can use a Self-Stripping Connector # SWC501746-1 to tie into the wiring behind the connector as long as you do have the connector on your Tesla. • Can I Use the Quick Splice Connectors to Install a New Wishbone 4-Flat Trailer Harness
Yes. There's no reason you can't use something like the Quick Splices - Self-Stripping Connector - Closed Port - 14-16-18 Gauge - Blue - Qty 1 # SWC502905-1 to install the # W002230 on your trailer. The # W002230 uses 18 gauge wiring, so the # SWC502905-1 would be the recommended quick splices assuming that your trailer also uses 14, 16 or 18 gauge wiring. I've also linked all of our quick splice connectors to this answer in case you find that you need something sized differently.

  • No Reverse Light Circuit When Towing with a 2017 BMW X5
I looked up your order and saw that you have purchased both the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT and the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7. The ZCI kit as you mentioned will not require any cutting or splicing. However, the 4-way included in this kit does not have a circuit for the reverse lights. The reverse light circuit is obtained through the 7-way trailer connector with the purple wire. The purple wire from the 7-way on...

  • How to Install the Rampage LED Tailgate Light Bar Part # RA960137 On a 2017 Toyota Tundra
The Rampage SuperBrite LED Tailgate Light Bar part # RA960137 is very simple to install and will only require one hardwire connection. I have attached the installation instructions for you below but to summarize, you will first want to plug the 4-way trailer connector on the light bar into the 4-way trailer connector on the vehicle. If you don't already have a 4-way trailer connector you can use part # HM11141835. I also highly recommend using a bit of part # 11755 before mating the two...

To answer your first question, you will use a quick splice connector, like # SWC501746-1, and attach the purple wire to one of the reverse light wires. If the reverse light wire is contained within a loom, you may have to carefully cut away enough of the loom to get to the wire. Since it is different on every vehicle, specific instructions are not available. It is also possible to find the reverse light wire further up the vehicle at a place that is easier to access. • How to Install a Trailer Brake Controller in a 2003 Jeep Liberty and 2006 Mercedes ML500
First, I will say that the Tekonsha P3, # 90195, is an excellent brake controller and would work well on both the 2003 Jeep Liberty and the 2006 Mercedes ML500. This brake controller is compatible with electric brake systems and electric over hydraulic brake systems. It also includes a multi-color display and can run diagnostics. The only thing is that you will need to hardwire the controller in both vehicles because a quick plug-in adapter is not available for either vehicle. But installation...

You can then use Butt Connectors # DW05744-10 and Quick Splice Wire Connectors # SWC501746-1 to connect the wiring to appropriate functions. • Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes that Lock Up in Reverse with One Truck but Not Others
Sounds like your trailer has surge brakes and the 7-way of your truck does not have the reverse light circuit complete which is preventing the reverse lockout from functioning properly. Once you do that the reverse lockout solenoid will function properly. You'd want to use a quick splice like the part # SWC501746-1...

  • Trailer Left Turn Signal Does Not Work After Installing Hopkins Backup Camera on 2015 Ford F-150
It sounds to me like something is not wired correctly inside of the connectors on backup camera # HM50002. Make sure that on both halves of the connectors the wires are attached to the pins and that there are no broken wires or bent pins in the connectors. The connectors are basically a pass-through device. The camera only needs the reverse light circuit to turn on (and the ground). So the only thing it could be is a broken connection from a wire or wires or bent/broken pins on the inside. Worse...

Start with Wiring Kit # 5506, which has 25' of wire, 20-, 30- and 40-amp circuit breakers, butt connectors and ring terminals. • Hopkins Reliance Trailer Brake Controller Does Not Work When Brake Pedal is Pressed
There could be a couple of issues that are causing the problem with the Reliance brake controller on your 2008 Dodge Ram. First, determine how the brake controller is wired to the truck. If it is using a harness that plugs into the vehicle, # HM47755, or something similar, then you can check the stop light fuse to see if it is blown.
