Where Is Reverse Light Typically Found for Activating Reverse Light Circuit on 7-Way

Question:

Im about to install a ETBC7 harness for my brake controller on a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. Both the instructions and the video mention that the purple wire is for the trailer backup lights. The video notes that since its not going to be used with a travel trailer they arent connecting the purple wire. Well, I AM hooking up for a travel trailer and Im hoping you can suggest a good place to find the Santa Fe backup wire and connect the purple wire to it. Otherwise Ill have to start taking off panels and you guys have probably already done that!

To find the reverse circuit to use for the purple wire will require you to test the wiring to your reverse lights and then tap into it. We don't have specific instructions for your vehicle but if you check out the install video I attached for a 5-way adapter you can see how we found it on a similar vehicle.

For a quick splice you would want the part # SWC501746-1.
