Lifting your truck camper on and off of your pickup truck is challenging if you don't have the right equipment. This pair of reliable cable jacks helps you load and unload your camper with ease. No permanent installation is required, so you won't have unsightly and expensive electric jacks hanging off of your camper. And because these jacks break down into 3 portable, easy-to-assemble pieces, you can take them everywhere the road takes you.

Ideal for Rental or Commercial Use

The high weight capacity and increased reach of these jacks give you the versatility you need at your rental or commercial lot. The jacks have a 4,000-lb combined weight capacity that allows you to easily lift the heaviest or the lightest campers on the lot. And the uppermost poles on these jacks are elongated so you can lift a camper up to 67" off the ground, which should be more than enough to clear the bed rails of even the loftiest pickup truck.

Premium winches and wheeled tripods also make these heavy-duty jacks excellent for tackling frequent use at a rental or commercial lot. Each hand winch has a built-in automatic friction brake that prevents the cable from free-spooling when you need to let go of the handle. Plus the 10:1 winch gear ratio means that it takes less effort to crank the handle 1 full revolution, so you won't easily tire out, even if you're raising and lowering campers all day long. Finally each jack has 2 wheels on its tripod that make it easy to maneuver the fully assembled jacks around the lot.

Simple Operation

Using these jacks is simple. Place 1 jack on each side of your camper and position the L-shaped lift brackets underneath the body of the camper. Then crank the hand winches to lift or lower each side of the camper evenly until the proper height for loading or unloading is achieved.

It is recommended that 2 people operate the jacks simultaneously to make it easier to raise each side of the camper evenly. However, 1 person can do the job by alternately lifting or lowering each jack in small increments.

These jacks work really well. I deliberately bought the tallest, heaviest rated so that I'd maximize capability. They had no problem raising the camper much higher than needed. They provided good stability and ease of lift. The only complaints are that the poles were completely wrapped with cellophane tape (instead of cling wrap) creating a sticky mess. Also one of the top screws that keep the cable from going off the pulley was not included. The jacks had some surface (paint) damage. I'm not sure if that was due to being previously purchased and returned, or damage during shipment. But these are very strong and stable.

They bent while using them on something that was rated for it. Not impressed.

I can understand your disappointment with the jacks and I wanted to ask you a few questions. Can you explain more on the weight of the camper. Would you be able to send a picture of the bend?

This system works for the heavy 1980s truck camper I have. My camper once had the 4 jacks on each corner but the ones in front broke off twice and it didn't seem worth rebuilding the wood inside to remount them. The tradeoff is its not easy to pack these jacks around and take the camper on and off while camping. But at least I can use my camper again. I kept the back 2 corner jacks on even though the information on the new ones suggests that they are enough but for more safety and ease I use the old back jacks and these new Brophys. So I would recommend them for such a situation.

  • Comparison of Truck Camper Jacks that Use Two Jacks or Four Jacks
The Brophy truck camper jacks like the Heavy Duty Cable Jacks # CX74 only require two jacks to be used. The advantage is that you only need two jacks and the cost is less than purchasing four jacks.

  • Can I Use Blocks Under the Feet Of Brophy Heavy Duty Cable Camper Jacks
I contacted Brophy and the Brophy Heavy Duty Cable Camper Jacks part # CX74 are designed to be used on a solid flat surface preferably concrete. Your concerns are valid that the camper may slide off if the ground is unstable. They do not recommend using blocks or supports under the feet that will raise the jacks up because that could cause instabilities as well. You are best to use the jacks on solid ground.

The Brophy Heavy Duty Cable Camper Jacks # CX74 may be able to work for you depending on the configuration of your camper. They do not have the same design in terms of fitting into the corners of your '73 Ford camper; the Brophy # CX74 uses L-shaped lift brackets so you will need to have a flat spot in the middle of your camper that can sit on the brackets (the brackets are 21-1/2" long x 2" wide x 2" tall).

Congratulations on the new to you truck bed camper. I recommend to use the Brophy Heavy Duty Cable Camper Jacks part # CX74 which will allow you to load and unload your truck camper. We don't currently have any customer submitted photos for the Brophy Heavy Duty Cable Camper Jacks # CX74, but we do for the lower capacity # CJ74, which uses the same lift brackets. From the edge of the tube to the lift bracket is approximately 3" so you don't have a lot of extra clearance. If the body sits past the fenders or just less that 3" before the fenders then you should be good to go.

  • Recommended Truck Bed Camper Jack System For A 2013 Ram 2500 Dually
Hello Christy. I do have a potential option for you, but the Brophy Heavy Duty Cable Camper Jacks # CX74 are generally not recommended for dually trucks. Fitment can depend on the width of the truck compared to the width of the camper. In most cases, they will not clear the fenders on a dually.
