Currently using one friction sway bar. On our last trip I experienced sway on our 30’ trailer due to gusty crosswinds. Adding additional bar to correct issue. ETRAILER had what I needed as they usually do, with expert advice also.

Using the second sway bar is working well. Perfect solution to eliminate excessive sway.

by:

Have waited until after a couple of trips to evaluate this Sway control product. VERY pleased at the additional control over the Sway caused when tractor-trailers pass by. Virtually eliminated. Installation instructions were OK, but drilling the holes did require some work. Most would probably have a trailer place do it for them.

by:

Sway controller fit perfectly on our vintage Airstream. Easy to install

by:

I bought the pro series anti sway kit for our 5000lb horse trailer because the trailer would begin oscillating sometimes when speeds were higher than about 50mph. The damper kit solved the problem I drove it up to 75mph after installing the kit and adjusting the drag according to the instructions. Installation was easy and the instructions were great. The quality was excellent. All the pieces we're included.

by:

I haven't installed the items on my RV yet, however removed them from the package and they look great. I received the products in only 2 days, and they were packaged perfectly. This is my 2nd order from etrailer and I am 100% satisfied and would recommend them to anyone.

by:

This sway control kit was easy to install and worked extremely well with our 22FB Airstream. Now when big trucks pass the rig is rock solid. Great customer service and shipping.

by:

Just came in, everything looks good and I don’t see any installation issues. Shipping was great as always etrailer is the only place to get you towing stuff.

by:

can't live without this and a small trailer necessary item... is also weight distribution!

A fabulous alternative to the large trailer swaydistribution bar. Keeps tongue weight down and works FABULOUSLY! Dandy item and what eTrailer is ALL about. Safe, easy to install and worth it.

by:

Works great

by:

Product just as expected.

by:

Towed my travel trailer without an anti-sway device and when tractor trailers passed me the sway made me nervous. Installed this and towed my travel trailer, sway reduced immediately. Awesome product from Reese.

by:

Works GREAT to reduce sway which is important as I’m pulling a trailer that’s a bit long for my SUV. First time I towed it home without the sway bar and felt every little breeze and got sway anytime I went over 60mph. This bar has totally changed that and made me MUCH more comfortable towing - thank you!

by:

I’m so glad we purchased this and installed the day before our trip! What an amazing difference it made. Towing my trailer was tighter and no “wobbles” going over bumps! The sway bar was super easy to install and made for a much better ride for my recent road trip!!

by:

Seems pretty solid & a direct fit for the 1 I replaced. Last 1 busted as the threads on the adjustment lever stripped. Shipping was lightning fast!

by:

Thank you, packing was the best

by:

Easy unit to install on our 16' Scamp. On the first trip I noticed the difference immediately at higher speeds. Easy to take off when you get to camp and are about to back into the space.

by:

Recieved the stabilizer & I can’t wait for my next road trip. Bought it to eliminate sway when our Scamp is loaded & bike rack on the rear of the trailer.

by:

I think the Reese Friction Control Bar is quite effective in reducing the sway. The only criticism that I have is the grinding/groaning noise it makes when making turns. I haven't been successful adjusting the tension, as recommended in instructions, to eliminate this prtoblem despite repeated attempts. Also, earlier during the installation process I had contacted customer service with a couple of questions, but did not receives a response.

by:

I am yet to install the unit, but it arrived as described, and e-trailers was fantastic to work with.

by:

Fast, personalized service - I had questions about a specific piece, that was on back order, and they tried to figure out an alternate method of getting me the part.

by:

It has worked well for every trip including interstate and roads through the mountains

Still completely happy with the performance. Trailer very stable towing under all conditions Great product

Purchased from etrailer super fast delivery and great price. Easy install. Excellent customer service, communication, and follow-up. Will use etrailer for my source of other needed products in the future.

If you already have a Pro Series weight distributing hitch (WDH) this is the stablilizer that goes with it and I am sure that it is acceptible for use with other manufacturers of WDHs. Installation is very easy following the single page of instructions; mark where you need to mount the plate on the trailer frame, drill six pilot holes, bolt the plate down and install the ball on the hitch and you are good to go. My Pro Series WDH came with one stabilizer, but after one long trip with high cross winds and heavily rutted roads I decided that I needed two stablilzers for my 32' long travel trailer as is reccomended here for any trailer over 26' length. These stabilizers, while simple in design, get the job done.

After one year of use and thousands of miles two stabilizers on a long trailer is the only way to go. Finding the correct amount of friction is still somewhat of a guessing game, but the units are still working great and making the task of towing such a long travel trailer much more manageable.

I can't say enough good things about this product! We have a large Coleman pop-up camper (3000lbs) that is miserable to tow. It's like putting a leash on a cat and walking it into the ocean. You could not tow it over 60 mph due to the horrible sway. I mounted this sway control kit on (not really expecting any miracles but hoping) and was blown away. Absolutely night and day difference! My pop-up tracks perfectly straight behind the vehicle and has Zero sway! I highly recommend this system for anyone with a pop-up camper or any smaller trailer that's having sway issues. For the price and ease of use, this thing can't be beat!

1 year later and it still works like a dream. This was by far the best money spent on a product. I never could have imagined what a major improvement it would make.

by:

Towing my 19’ Jayco trailer with my Jeep Grand Cherokee without sway control was a bit of a challenge on the highway alongside tractor trailers. With a tongue weight of less than 300 lbs I didn’t need any load leveling assist so I opted for this economical solution. Mounting was straightforward and after a bit of adjustment to the tension, I was able to hit a happy point where the sway was virtually eliminated but the squeaking or groaning of the friction device at low speed was minimal. Highly recommend for trailers 3000 lbs and less.

  • Can an Adapter be Used to Drop Height of Weight Distribution to Tow a Trailer Level
It sounds like you want to use an adapter with the weight distribution shank to drop the ball 6 inches so you can tow the trailer level. The problem with that is an adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent and because of the forces associated with weight distribution this could lead to damage to the hitch, vehicle, and trailer. The adapters that do have a drop are for flat towing vehicles and not for trailers so its a double-whammy. An alternative shank...

  • Sway Control for Ford F-150 Towing 2018 KZ Escape 181
A weight distribution system would not be a total requirement for your setup but it would be highly recommended as it will reduce sag, improve handling, and braking as well as do a great job stopping/preventing sway. The Reese Strait Line kit part # RP66083 would be your best option as it has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs and features only sway control that works to fight sway before it starts.

Since your trailer's frame is not easily accessible due to paneling on the bottom of the RV you'd want to go with a bumper hitch like the part # E-100 and move the spare wheel off-center on the bumper so the hitch hitch fit. A friction sway control unit like part # 83660 would be a great option to reduce sway as well.

Then if you don't have the wiring and brake controller, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118304, the # ETBC7L and Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180. • Can Reese Friction Sway Control be Used on Larger and Smaller Trailers
The Reese friction sway control part # 83660 is adjustable in terms of how much friction you want to use. You can tighten down the system for more friction or you can loose it to have less so you can use it on larger and smaller trailers. If the trailer is longer than 26 feet it is recommended that you use two of these.

  • How to Select Proper Weight Distribution/Sway Control System for 2009 Silverado
The weight distribution systems that use a friction bar for sway control, like # PS49583 with # 83660 from Pro Series, do not allow you to back up your trailer without first disconnecting the bar. If left in place when reversing the trailer this mechanism would suffer damage. The systems like the Equal-i-zer 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37140ET and the Reese Steadi-Flex # RP66560, which use an integrated anti-sway system that does not rely on a separate friction bar, do not have this limitation...

I believe you are talking about a friction sway control, and not all necessarily use the same size ball, no. We do have the friction sway control kit you are asking about which you can use as a replacement, though just the arm by itself isn't available as a replacement part so you'd need the whole kit, which is the following: - Reese Friction Sway Control Kit - Economy - by Draw-Tite, Reese and Hidden Hitch # 83660 I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well.

  • Are Weight Distribution Systems Supposed to be Noisy
Weight distribution systems do typically create some noise whether it is creaking, scraping, or even clunking. This is normal and is a result from the metal on metal contact. If you are using the Pro Series system # 49570 or a similar system with a friction sway bar like # 83660 it could be that it is not adjusted properly (too loose or too tight) and that might be the noise you are hearing. • Can Dual-Cam Sway Control be Used with Reese Weight Distribution
I spoke with my contact at Reese and systems such as # RP67509 can only be used with their specific spring bars. There are no spring bars currently available that will allow you to use dual-cam sway control. You have 2 options. First, you can go ahead and give a friction bar sway control system a try, # 83660. You could even use 2 of these if needed, one on each side of the trailer. And second, you can replace the system you have with a Reese Strait-Line system, # RP66083, which is rated...

  • Will a Sway-Control Bracket Work with the MaxxTow Adjustable-Height Ball Mount MT70067
Yes, the Reese Sway-Control Bracket part # RP26003 will work with the MaxxTow Adjustable-Height Ball Mount MT70067. The only thing I suggest is using a hitch ball with an extended shank like part # 40038 for 2" or part # C40007 for 2-5/16". If you are also looking for the friction sway bar to attach to this bracket then I recommend the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit part # 83660. We don't carry EAZ-Lift products, but if you're talking about a friction sway control unit, you can use a Reese Friction Sway Control unit, part # 83660 which isn't hitch-specific. As long as the weight distribution head of your EAZ-Lift W/D system has the spot for the small sway control ball on the driver's side, the 83660 would work great for you.

You cannot use the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 on class I hitches such as the factory hitch on your 2018 Subaru Outback because it adds a degree of tension to the hitch which lightweight hitches are not designed to accept.
