Can Dual-Cam Sway Control be Used with Reese Weight Distribution

Question:

Hi There, We have a Reese RP67509 system and really need help reducing sway! Our trailer is 30 ft. We want to stay away from the friction type, are there any compatible cam-types that we can add onto our existing unit? without having to replace the head Thanks

I spoke with my contact at Reese and systems such as # RP67509 can only be used with their specific spring bars. There are no spring bars currently available that will allow you to use dual-cam sway control. You have 2 options.

First, you can go ahead and give a friction bar sway control system a try, # 83660. You could even use 2 of these if needed, one on each side of the trailer.

And second, you can replace the system you have with a Reese Strait-Line system, # RP66083, which is rated for 400 to 800 pounds tongue weight like the Reese system. I have included links to videos showing installation of the friction bar sway control and the Strait-Line system for you.

The dual-cam sway control is much better at preventing sway and is the system that I would go with if given the choice.
