Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

The rating is for etrailer, not the product. The Dexter hub and drum assembly was fine, etrailers way of doing business is not. The estimated ship date kept changing due to a "location in warehouse" issue. It took 2 weeks before they shipped it out. Bottom line, if you need something in a timely fashion, look elsewhere.

Everything arrived in a timely manner. However one of the bearings was damaged half of the Lugnuts were missing because the box that was shipped in was destroyed by the time it got to me. • Easiest Way to Find the Correct Replacement Hub and Drums for a Gooseneck Trailer
The best way to find what hubs you need for your gooseneck trailer would be to get underneath it and look for an axle tag. On this tag would be a weight rating which would lead you to the correct hubs. For example, since you have a 40' gooseneck trailer, you probably have at least 9-10K axles which would mean that you could use the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 9K to 10K Axles # K08-288-90. These'll work with axles made before July of 2009, so if you yours were made after,...

  • Difference Between Dexter 008-430-05 and 8-430-5UC3
The Dexter # 8-430-5UC3 and 008-430-05 are the same hub and drum assembly. They use the same bearings and seals, the same oil cap kit, have the same capacity, and fit axles manufactured after 2009. The only difference between the part numbers is that the # 8-430-5UC3 is the full kit that comes with everything. The bearings, races, oil seal, and oil cap kit are all included. The 008-430-05 does not include these, or in some cases comes with only the bearings and races.

  • Replacement Hub and Drum Assembly for a Dexter 10K General Duty Axle 387A Inner and 25580 Outer
We have exactly what you are looking for. If your axles were made before 07-01-2009, then you have the old style 2-piece hub and drums, so you will want the Complete Hub Assembly, # 8-288-3UC1. Keep in mind, this does not include the drum. If you also need the drum, then you will want part # 9-44-1 for a non-ABS drum or part # 9-44-3 for a drum with the ABS exciter ring installed and 8 drum mounting bolts, # 7-245. The hub assembly comes with the races already installed and it includes...

  • Can Dexter 10k Disc Brake Setup be Converted to Electric Drum Brake
Yes, you can replace the hub and brake components of a Dexter 10k axle with drum components to convert it to electric drum brakes. For that you'd need the hub/drums part # 8-430-5UC3 and then for the brake assemblies # 23-450-451 and you'd be set in that regard. You'd need to run 10 gauge or thicker wire to each assembly which we offer with the part # 10-1-1.

  • Converting Hydraulic Brakes To Electric On Tri-Axle Livestock Trailer
Most hubs are compatible with electric and hydraulic brakes. The 10,000 lb axle 12-1/4 inch diameter Dexter hub and drum assembly part # 8-430-5UC3 that we carry is hydraulic and electric brake compatible which may be what you have. If you can tell me the part number of the Dexter hubs and drums you have specifically I can find out if they are compatible. If your hubs are compatible, I recommend Dexter Electric Brake Kit part # 23-434-435. These Dexter brakes measure 12-1/4" diameter...

  • Availability of Spindle and Hubs for 10,000 lb Trailer Axle
As you may have noticed, the highest capacity spindle we carry is for a 7,000 lb axle, # TRU37FR. Your best bet is to source the spindles for a 10,000 lb axle through a local trailer shop or dealer. If are able to source the spindles, we do have hubs for 10,000 lb axles. I'll list them below: # 8-430-5UC3 - Dexter Hub Drum for 9K to 10K axles manufactured after July 2009 (for non ABS brakes) - uses inner bearing # 387A, outer bearing # 25580 and oil seal # 10-51 # K08-288-90 - Dexter...

  • Replacement Hub Drum for Dexter 10k Axle
You could take the drum to a machine shop that can turn drums to see if it's good or bad, but typically if you can tell yours is warped it's probably time to replace it. For a 10k Dexter brake drum we have the part # 8-430-5UC3 which is an exact replacement.

Just use the filters on the page to see if we have one that will work for you. I do recommend replacing your hub/drum assembly as well because not all hub/drum assemblies will work with both hydraulic and electric brake assemblies. • Determining the Weight Capacity of Axles and If Hubs Are Available
Unfortunately we don't carry hubs above 10K. The largest hubs we carry are 9K-10K Dexter Hub and Drum Assemblies # 8-430-5UC3. I have no way of knowing what hubs may work on your trailer unless you measure the spindles using a digital caliper like # PTW80157. I've attached a photo to assist with the locations. These measurements will possibly help to determine the capacity of your axle, but any hubs that may fit will limit your axle capacity to the max capacity of the hubs.
