Trailer Wheel Lug Nut

Today we're going to be taking a look at the 5/8" by 18 90-Degree Cone Steel Acorn Trailer Wheel Lug Nut. This lug nut is designed to fit 5/8" diameter wheel studs. It uses right hand normal thread, and it's 18 threads per inch. This is made of a heat treated steel, which is very sturdy and durable. Now, this lug nut is a 90-degree cone, and it's designed to fit 90-degree cone of the lug hole on your wheel. Now, this design lug nut, the 5/8" by 18 90-degree cone is mainly use in a lot of your large truck applications like inaudible dually wheels.
The reason they're 90-degree cone, it's confuse in their different than your standard lug nuts that are 60-degree taper lug nuts. Here's an example of a 60-degree taper. Basically when you measure the taper on a lug nut, you're measuring both tapers as they meet. This would be 60 degrees, this one is called the 90 degree cone which gets a little confusing because when you think of 90-degrees, you're thinking of a right angel. That's actually what this is, because this taper right here is a 45, and this one on this side is a 45.
When they go together, they make a 90 degree cone. Basically when you're measuring the taper on a lug nut, it's from taper to taper, not from the taper to the center line of the lug nut itself. Now, this head size on this or outer diameter is 1 1/16" or 27 millimeters. Just to show you, we happened to have here a 27 millimeter deep well socket, and as you can see it fits perfectly on to the head of the nut. This is for quantity of one lug nut, and just to give you the length from the top to the bottom of this lug nut is going to be right at 11/16". That should do it for the review of the 5/8" by 18 90-Degree Cone Steel Acorn Trailer Wheel Lug Nut..
