Video Transcript for Hopkins Wiring - Wiring Adapters - 47435 Review

Today we're going to review part number 47435. This is the Hopkins 6-pole round to 7-pole blade trailer wiring connector. Now this adapter here will convert your 6-pole round wire connector that's on your tow vehicle to a 7-way blade connectors for trailers. Basically, the thing you need to be aware of that on a 6-pole round, it can be wired in 2 different ways, the center pin can be wired as either a brake output or a 12-volt power. Now this adapter is wired, comes to your wire with the center pin as the 12-volt power. If you do need to reverse it, to use that as the brake output for the center pin you can easily re-pin this adapter. Basically, what you would do is there's a screw here and a screw here, just loosen those screws and then you can slide the wire and pop it out and then just re-pin the blue and the black wires, that's all you'd have to do and that would change it over.

That should do it for the review on part number 47435, the Hopkins 6-Pole Round to 7-Pole Blade Trailer Wiring Adapter. .

I was needing a trailer wiring adapter for my 2001 Dodge 1 ton with DewEze bale bed which has a 6 pin round electrical plug and my PJ trailer has a 6 pin flat plugin connector. I could not find one locally and nobody had any knowledge about these. I found etailer website but needed help figuring out what adapter I needed, Jameson C replied to my email with information I needed. Placed my order and received adapter in 3 days. Plugged it into truck and trailer and it works great. Thanks Jameson C and etrailer. Very good customer service. Good price and received quickly. Will definitely be a repeat customer.

Excellent solution to transition without having to install new connection. Huge Savings. Bookmarked etrailer.com for all my trailer shopping needs. Super fast delivery. 5 Stars

This adapter really made my trailer light project easy. Thanks for selling these.

by:

I got this to hook to back my RV. Plugged six way into RV plug and its still there. The other end hooks to trailer. I have owned this plug before. The place where little screw is in six way will crack just like those 6 way plugs always do. The RV is inside so that should help. I don't plan on unplugging it from RV unless I sell the RV. Left outside the place little screw is will crack. Might put electric tape around the end but it likely will not fit into female end then. Watch how hard you pull on the six way. That screw is very weak spot. The little screws inside do rust and then you need new plug and rewired to work. Oh this plug works good but it has that weak end.

still connected I hardly use RV its for sell

As advertised. I have one truck with a rv plug and one with a six way so the adaptor allows me to hook either trailer to either truck.

working as advertised, great purchase

The wiring adapter that I bought for my new camper worked perfectly with my pickup wiring. Didn't have to do anything but plug it in and go.

Working perfectly!

I t seemed like this was the perfect solution for connecting the 6 pole on our 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee to our two horse trailer (7 blade); but when we hooked it up the left turn signal did nothing and the right turn signal set off the flashers.
Turning the flashers on in the Jeep also turned on the flashers; the running lights and brake lights worked ok.
I switched some of the wires but nothing seemed to change.
I'd like to put a 7 blade connector on the Jeep but can't get the existing 6 pole connector off, and even if I'm able I don't know how to tell which wire is for which function. I'm guessing the Jeep wiring is not standard?
I think it's time to turn to a local shop in hopes they can get us working.

Looked extensively for this rather special combination 6-pole on truck to 7-blade on trailer connector. Contacted a dozen RV dealers and trailer rental places. Parts people went thru their catalogs. No luck. I spent 4 minutes online with etrailer and had identified and ordered the item. It arrived in my PO Box 5 days later. Works perfectly!

by:

Works as it should, I purchased for my dad who's truck is set up with a 6 prong plug for his older gooseneck horse trailer. An now he can use my new gooseneck flat deck trailer, without us rewiring everything.

by:

This worked perfectly. I've owned for about a year and it makes it handy when pulling a trailer equipped with a 7 pin harness and I'm plugging into my 6 pin in my bed. Great product! Handy!

by:

Good quality and works great. I've only used it a couple times but have had no problem with it. I don't have it mounted and I do wish it didn't have a mounting bracket so it would take up less room in my tool box.

by:

I received this 6 pole to 7 pole adapter as a quick fix to a new vehicle we had wired to tow behind our motorhome. Thinking the new vehicle would be set up as our previous vehicle, I learned after the install a 7 pole electrical cord was provided which obviously didn't match our 6 pole setup on the motorhome. A quick search led me to e-trailer.com for what I needed and the quick turn around on shipping allowed us to leave for Florida on time.

by:

The cable could be a little longer. Had difficulty when I tried to mount along side existing outlet. Had to leave it loose and use only when towing trailer that required the different receptacle.

by:

Convenient adapter

by:

Got right adapter on first try, thanks to your find the right adapter feature on your site.

Great, no problemsee at all

by:

Very pleased. After being told by a local auto parts store that there was "no such" adapter...... I was excited to find this adapter on etrailer. Due to time constraints, I needed an immediate fix...no time to take my truck into the shop and have them wire a 7 pole hook-up.

by:

It works perfectly. I also ordered the mounting bracket for the frame and the mounting bracket for the unit. it all was very easy to assemble. I think the wireing could have been a couple inches longer to compensate for the orginal mounting bracket being wider than the acutal plug in. over all it is a good investment. It save a lot of headaches.

I bought this 99 F-250 for a ranch ride. It only had an old style 6 round plug in. After researching how much it takes to rewire for the 7 flat ( time and money), I decided against it. After a few weeks of trying to find an adapter, I came across etrailer and for less than a tenth of rewiring cost I'm ready to go!!

by:

It's just what I need! The small boat trailer I have had a 7 blade female connector, but the truck I have to tow it has a 6 pin male plug. The adapter will work beautifully!

by:

quality made. works fine. my application was a bit complicated as I have separate turn / brake lites. had to modify the 7 pin making the reverse lights the brake lites. You guys are fabulous. Keep up the great work. web site extremely helpful.

by:

Thank you very much, exactly what I need ed

Great

by:

This is just the item I was looking for to convert the 6-wire on my older pickup to accommodate the 7-wire hookup on a dump trailer I recently acquired. Save me a lot of trouble and suits my needs . . .

by:

This adapter worked like a charm! Just plug it in and you should be good to go! The customer service at etrailer was very helpful in making sure I purchased the right product.

by:

I am pleased with the two items that I ordered. Instead of having to change out my outdated plug, I was able to find adapters for my various trailers instead.

by:

Excellent product, simply plug-in and go with no swapping of wires or chasing connections. All trailer functions worked straight out of the box.
