Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, I'm gonna take a look at the anti-rattle hitch lock for the Malone Cargo Carriers or bike racks. Now this anti-rattle hitch lock will work on your Malone cargo carriers or the Malone bike racks that have a one and a quarter inch or two inch shank. It does include everything shown here on the table. It'll include the threaded bolt with the washer. The lock housing on this end.
The two keys and this bolt is threaded, and that's to provide anti-wobble to the carrier. And then on this end has a lock housing, which will give you a locking capacity at the hitch. Basically, when you install this, this will thread into the shank of the cargo carrier, the bike rack, and it gives you the anti-wobble feature, and the lock. You can use it or you can use it without the lock, whichever you prefer. The lock will just give you added security, but just to show you how to remove it, you'll see on this end where the lock is, you'll slide up that little door, take your key, insert it right in there.
Just like that. Twist it and it comes right off just like that, and now you're ready to insert this. And as we said, you can put this in, tighten it down, and just use it as an anti-wobble. And then if you want the extra security, just take this and install it. Now, the key won't come out once this slack housing is off the bolt, and that's to keep you from losing your keys.
It'll stay in there. But to install it, all you have to do is once this is installed, slide this on. Push it. Slide your key out and just like that, it's locked. It does have a nice corrosion-resistant coating on it.
The metal key housing is all a nice reinforced metal housing. Now the bolt diameter is a half inch. The bolt length, we're gonna go ahead, and take the housing off so we can measure the bolt length but the bolt length will be measured from under the head of the bolt to the very end. So you should be able to see if we put a ruler on that, right at four inches long. Towing capacity for this lock is 10,000 pounds. But again, just to install it, slide it right on. Slide your key out, push that down and you're all ready to go. (throat coughs) But that should do it for the review on the anti-rattle hitch lock for the Malone Cargo Carriers or bike racks.

It was hard to find the right replace lock but fortunately the lock fit the old pin so Im happy!!
I use it all the time, or most times it is on the care with my bike rack.
Secure, easy to use, peace of mind when combined with cable lock that is part of bike rack as well.
The only problem I have with this is the key doesn't seem to want to unlock and it spins in the barrel complete 360. I think it might even be broken as the last time I used it was in Aug 2019 and I haven't been riding my bike so I don't use the rack to use this lock. But these folks asked me to do a review one year later and here I am and sorry it's not the best rating, but it is an honest review.
Garbage.do not buy. The lock is very stiff, and I broke the key off in it trying to unlock it

Tucker, was this when it was fairly new or did it sit outside and possibly have any corrosion or debris in it? Did you use any graphite lube or WD40 as preventive maintenance?

It works great. I have had other people with Nissan Altimas wanting to know where I got mine. I actually used mine Sunday and Monday for my bike rides. My son is wanting to order one for his 2015 Audi All road.
