Video Transcript for Heininger Holdings Hitch Locks - Rack Specific Anti-Rattle Lock - HE6001 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number HE6001. This is the HitchMate threaded trailer hitch receiver lock for 2 inch hitches. The threaded hitch lock works as an anti-rattle lock for the Advantage Sportsrack glide away bike rack, part number 2200 and 2250 and also the HitchMate RotoHitch hitch extender, part number HE5990. The key cover here on the lock is going to help keep out dirt and moisture from the internal elements of the lock. Two keys are included. This is designed to fit a 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. Our pin diameter is 5/8 inch.

To go over some of the measurements we have an overall length of 5 7 /8 inch. The distance between the lock and the head of our bolt measures 3 1/4 inches. The threaded portion measures about 2 inches. We'll go ahead and remove the lock from our bolt. The unthreaded portion also measures about 2 inches. Once you have your accessory, your bike rack or hitch extender, into the receiver tube of your hitch, you can insert the anti-rattle bolt, thread it into position and place the lock on the other side.

It's just going to snap on and lock itself. Then you can remove the key, close the lock cover and you're ready to go. With this you have the anti-rattle bolt, the lock, two keys and a lock washer. That's going to complete today's review of part number HE6001. That's the HitchMate threaded trailer hitch receiver lock for 2 inch hitches. .

Emily, was great to deal with. She took an interested in my need , did some research and solved my problem. Great job!!

by:

Works perfectly on my old sportworks rack. Thank to the other reviewer for mentioning it worked on his. There was a gap between the lock and the hitch. I bought ten fender washers to fill the gap. For the price, it was an excellent purchase from eTrailer.

by:

Unfortunately, the lock was not compatible to the Curt Bike Rack. Half of the lock is threaded & the lock wouldn't feed all the way through to properly lock the rack securely.

This lock is meant to be used with the Advantage SportsRack glideAWAY bike racks model numbers 2200 and 2250. And the HitchMate RotoHitch hitch extender part # HE5990. If you have the Curt bike rack model # C18085 then you can use part # SR0901 as a lock.

I bought a Yakima two-bike hitch-mount rack second hand and needed to find a threaded, locking pin. etrailer filled the bill, as they had done with a previous purchase a while ago. I'm very happy with the fit and finish of the product, and with the informative, customer-focused service etrailer provides.

The pin has proved serviceable and durable.

by:

Perfect! I bought a new trailer hitch cover and this will keep anyone from removing it.

by:

Bought to replace a 5/8" diameter threaded hitch pin and lock for a 2" hitch. Lock seemed solid, but the bolt shaft narrows to 1/2" immediately after the threads, making it weaker compared to similar products. The use-able distance from bottom of the bolt head to the barrel of the lock barely clears my 2" Toyota hitch. I am returning it to try the Swagman instead. If you need the pin to narrow down to 1/2" quickly, this product may be exactly what you are looking for.

Thanks for the follow up. I just wanted to let you know that this hitch pin is intended to be used for the Advantage SportsRack glideAWAY bike rack 2200, 2250 and HitchMate RotoHitch hitch extender HE5990.

by:

Got this hitch to replace the one that I ordered wrong the first time James A at etrailer was very helpful. The lock fit good to the hitch but still got a little free play even after I tighten down perhaps my trailer hitch is old. I have not try to carry my bikes on it yet so I cannot comment on that. Shipping was pretty good although the package box was little flimsy and not much of package padding inside but I did received the item without any damage to it. I deducted a star because of high cost of return shipping charge using the return label the cost is more than half of the amount that I pay for the item that I ordered the first time.

by:

Needed just a few more inches so my bike rack would clear the spare tire on my Jeep JKU and this does the trick perfectly. Bought the locking bolt/pin as an attempt to slow down theft of the rack. Thinking a thief would have to come equipped to not only break the lock off (wouldn’t be too difficult) but also with the right sized metric socket wrench to remove the bolt. I’m very pleased with how firmly the bolt/pin holds the extension as does the bolt pin on my Yakima rack making the whole system very solid. I’ll still run some straps to my roof rack from the bike rack to reduced the inevitable lateral motion as I’ve done with other bike racks.

still working great

by:

I have a 2” Yakima rack and the thread on the bolt was worn. Purchased this replacement bolt and is works however the diameter where there is no thread is much smaller than original. This causes rack to wobble because the hole in the hitch is larger and the smaller diameter bolt doesn’t fit close. Added a U bolt that fits over the 2” rack to tighten rack to hitch.

by:

Wonderful!
Appreciate being able to
leave my tow ball on the truck while removing a trailer to go off-roading in the woods

by:

The 4 bike rack I received from etrailer is solid . It is I’m not to mechanical, but this rack was easy and fast to put together. The rack is easy to place and secure bikes. The tilt for hatchback access was perfect. Tanith recommended the Reese explore 4 hitch bike rack #63124 and bought lock for rack also. A good recommendation , that is working well. Thanks tanith and etrailer.

by:

Called wanting a trailer hitch locking pin for my new bike rack Ashley called manufacture of bike rack making certain the part was correct, I call that great service

by:

Exactly as advertised and a fraction of the cost of the bicycle rack manufacturers same style locking pin! Second time I have ordered from etrailer and the products are exactly as advertised. Fast shipping and excellent support if needed. Check out their YouTube channel for step by step instructions if needed.

by:

I purchased this accessory to compliment the 2" anti-wobble hitch extension. I needed a way to lock my Kuat bike rack to my Jeep while moving it back away from the vehicle more than 4 inches. Both products work perfectly in every way to accomplish what I needed.

by:

Product was a perfect fit for a lock hitch bolt threaded needed for my ReeseBike Rack. Which Reese supplied a lock bolt. But, this was a great match, hopefully it lasts a long time..

by:

Lock and pin appear solid and well made. The dust cap on the keyway is snug and should hold up well. This was an economical choice for the replacement of a Thule pin lock that fell off due to user error (mine.)

by:

A handsome and durable lock that fit perfectly on my rattle proof cargo rack. Would recommend.

by:

It seems that the lock doesn’t fit my bike rake. I never used it.

Based off you order information, it looks like you got this lock to go with model # RRRBC045. Manufacturers use specific locks for specific products and we do not carry a compatible, same brand lock at this time. A good option to get instead would be part # e98891 and wrap it around the bike rack and the safety chain loops on the hitch.

by:

Works great! Easy to a hook up and it totally secures the hitch to the carrier so there’s no vibration.

by:

I like the locking pin, it is strong, and easy to use.

by:

Shipped same day! Heavy duty hitch and bike rack and installed in one hour!

by:

It doesn't fit my bike rack coz my bike rack use smaller pin but I will keep it

by:

E trailer customer service was excellent from initial discussion to delivery and then follow up. Helen's assistance with this process was excellent. The product works perfect. I was happy with the whole experience. Many thanks.

by:

I purchased this for my old Sportworks rack. The threads are 5/8-11 and the lock works perfectly.

The correct locking hitch in for the DISCONTINUED Reese Explorer 4 Bike rack 63124 is the HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches part # HE6001. This will take all of the play out of the rack and allow you to lock it to your vehicle.

  • Solution for Threaded Hitch Pin that Won't Thread into Bike Rack
The anti-rattle device part # HE6001 that you referenced has been confirmed as a fit for your Advantage SportsRack glideAWAY Bike Rack. Most likely what is happening is that the threads of your bike rack are dirty or rusty and need to be cleaned out so that the bolt will thread into it. I attached a help article that details how to do this in a similar situation for you to check out. If the rack's original anti-rattle bolt still will thread into the rack then you will want to compare...

  • What Locking Hitch Pin Fits a Rola Cargo Carrier # 59502?
Since the Rola Cargo Carrier 59502 includes a 5/8"-11 hitch pin, I confirmed with my tech at Rola that the only confirmed locking hitch pin that is compatible is the HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # HE6001. Since Rola does not make a hitch pin for the carrier, the HitchMate is the lock they recommend.

  • Hitch Extender for Use With a Pop-Up Trailer With a 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
Since it sounds like you don't need too much of an extension I recommend that you go with the shortest extension that we currently offer which is 11 inches long # HE6000. There is already a lot of play at the rear of a trailer due to the axle location. Adding an extender to the mix will only increase the amount of play that you will experience, so you will need to make sure that whatever you have on that rack can take a beating. You will also want to make sure that whatever accessory that...

We have just what you are looking for! • Hitch Lock Recommendation for Hollywood Racks Bike Rack
We have an anti-rattle hitch lock designed specifically as a fit for Hollywood Rack bike racks. For that you'd want the Hollywood Racks Threaded Hitch Lock # HRLHPT. The HitchMate hitch lock part # HE6001 that you referenced is designed for a different brand of bike rack and would not fit.
